all this fitbit talk is starting to make me want to take it back out and charge it up. Not sure what happened, either it stopped working or I just stopped wearing it. Maybe I'll start again and rejoin the fit bit faction. :-?
@casey78 how was your presentation? did you have a good turnout?
@econmama I'm sorry your mom is in the hospital. hopefully it;s a very short stay
Yeah but knowing my husband it wouldn't stay in the dryer. Plus my uncle uses our washer and dryer for his clothes and who knows what he would do with it. It would never stay in there. Maybe when we aren't living with him anymore and I do the bulk of the laundry because ideally I'll be staying home with the kiddos.
I use the "bounce" brand one. You can buy it at target, supermarket, or amazon. Just type in "dryer bar".
That's amazing!
I bought one of those once and it fell off the first time I used it and wouldn't re-stick

I also use a dryer bar and LOVE it!! I've been using them for years and haven't bought dryer sheets in forever. I just change it whenever it runs low and it's so super easy.
Fantastic (mustacheless!) meeting with advisor over a brown sugar rosemary latte. Talking with him always makes me feeling incredibly intelligent and competent - not in comparison, he's brilliant, just somehow he brings me up a notch.
He is on board with my proposed schedule to graduate in May. Which means I will be attempting to finish my dissertation in the next 4 months, at which point we will reevaluate (must submit mid-March); if we feel I need substantial revisions (or if we have hospital time, etc. that makes it impossible), we will push my defense back to August. It will be a break-neck schedule, but DH and my mom and MIL are all committed to giving me work time and I am kind of excited about the challenge.
Either way, next month I will be filing an intent to graduate. That is both exhilarating and terrifying.

This kid may not have a lot of bowel, but he has plenty of guts! DS born at 34 weeks with (surprise!) gastroschisis turned short bowel syndrome. 131 days in the NICU, 7 trips to the OR, G-button, daily TPN....
We are impatiently awaiting the day we can say goodbye to his girlfriend Ivy for good.
Oh, and also could I just send him my revised precis and also my intro and first two chapters in their current state by tomorrow for him to skim before he writes this recommendation letter for me?
No problem, advisor, I definitely didn't exaggerate how far along I was with them. :^o
Back to the dungeons with me. Hello there, midnight oil....

Soooo what would be in chocolate Oreos that isn't in regular Oreos? DH just ate two and the same stuff that happened overnight (swollen tongue, itchy throat) started again. And we had eaten a few before bed. It's so strange!
@sparkymcgeee the dryer bar sticks to the inside of the dryer and isn't super easy to remove. Your husband would have to intentionally pry it off. I buy a refill every six months or so. I think it's easier and cheaper than dryer sheets. Anyway it's an option.
@everyone with dryer bars or sheets... I have never used any of those magical gadgets you talk about :-? we do separate LOs clothes from ours because DH is gross and he washes his jeans every month or something like that :-&

Thank you UPS man for ringing my doorbell and waking my baby. I know they need to do that but it's always at naptime.
Put a sign up! I have a sign on our door that says "Baby is sleeping, please do not ring door bell." It was on our door semi permanently before the elections, too.
@kaylakim I don't have a doorbell but my dog goes crazy when they pull into my driveway. I need a sign at the end of the driveway that says "please just quietly throw the box into the yard, thanks" lol.
We finally took out our winter coats for the season. I have 10 coats. I need to make room, but can't seem to part with any of them. I'm finding excuses like, "Oh this coat is for formal wear." (I have 3 total that can be for formal wear.) Or "This is for when I go to the gym." (I never go to the gym.) Or "This is perfect for skiing." (I've only gone once in my life.) FWP.

DH just went through the closet too. I had four. My raincoat, my Carhartt for the super awful cold, a peacoat that is waaaay to big for me and a weird lightweight jacket from Yellowstone I can't part with. I need a new nice winter jacket. Carhartt is nice for the polar votex but not date night.

I have a permanent note on my door that says "baby sleeping don't knock or ring bell" since my dog goes ape shit if she hears it and that is guaranteed to wake up LO.

DD had her 16 month checkup. She is 29.5 inches tall and weight 22 lbs, with a tiny head at 17 inches. She got 3 shots that afterwards she cried halfway home until she passed out.
Best part about the appt was that the Dr said that she can drink formula until 2 yes old. I was really stressed out that I had to wean her before she was ready for real food. I just had to use the toddler formula. This makes me happy.
Just in case anyone was under the impression I have things together over here: The toddler did not nap at all today, the baby did not sleep for more than 10 minutes at a time until almost FOUR PM. I am still wearing the clothes I wore yesterday, and my shirt has spit-up, blood, chocolate, and milk on it. I smell BAD. At one point this afternoon the three of us were having a contest to see who could cry the hardest, and I am afraid that at one point I was winning. I have had a headache since about midnight last night.
Toddler is currently in bed early but just started wailing. I can't do anything about it until baby finishes nursing because DH isn't home.
