NTTGPR: Gas Prices

I want to high five myself right now for paying $2.73 per gallon for gas! I can't remember the last time I got it for that cheap (and how sad is it that this is now considered "cheap"?) but I'll gladly pay the bridge toll to cross over to Jersey for the lower rates, especially when I need to make a Walmart run too. How is gas by all of you?

  • Lowest around here is Kangaroo with $2.69/gal. Though, I use my Winn-Dixie fuel perks at Shell, because it always ends up cheaper afterwards.

I'm actually like this too. I just happen to get gas today and it ended up being cheaper to fill it up than usual so I looked up and kept a mental note of the price.

You have to pay it regardless. Sometimes it's easier not to look!
  • I'm the type that will not go out of my way to save a few cents either but on my way to work there is a gas station on the corner. I always have to look at the price (OCD much?)

  • $2.57 in NJ! We specifically go out of our way to this station as they are the cheapest we've ever come across.

We were driving interstate and had to go to a Sunoco today (before we crossed state line) which was $2.83 but at least had a window wash....

  • Its $2.99 here today but I sweet talked DH into filling me up for $2.79 on Sunday.  Its usually ten cents cheaper over in Kentucky, but not worth the drive unless we are going south for something else.

When I was 16 I worked at a grocery store with the gas savings points on the receipts.  Customers would hand them back to us if they were small, but we could use up to 5 at a time.  I would save them up and fill up for around $8 (which would last months!).  I miss those days.

Luckily I live about 5 miles from work now so its not too bad.  DH just prefers to drive my car on weekends.

Anyone else remember the cheapest gas you've ever bought? When I was 16, I paid $1.06 a gallon for my first fill up.

My junior and senior year in HS it was around $1. I definitely remember paying less than a buck more than once.

Nope nope nope nope nope. That was uk gallons! It won't let me edit so will apologise and correct here. I didn't even know there were uk and us gallons ha. Actually more like 3.78 litres in a gallon so £7.70 ish.

I think the cheapest I paid at 17 was around $0.97/gallon.  It's currently $2.75 here, which I had to look up.  I only fill up about every 2-3 weeks since I live 6 miles from work.  It would be even less, but I have a lead foot.

  • I think were at around $2.99... I really don't pay attention, I just know WaWa has the cheapest so I always try to go there
  • I fill up twice a week because I have quite the commute, so I make sure to fill up when I'm out doing errands near a certain Cumberland Farms (10 cents off with SmartPay).  It is usually close to $0.25 more where I work, and a good $0.10 more where I live, so waiting to fill up when I'm either going to my chiropractor or running to Walmart (both near the Cumberland Farms) is very worth it - saving $6 a week is more than saving pennies and it adds up when I do it 10 months out of the year.

It's $2.95 right now, so I'll pay $2.85 this afternoon when I fill up.

As for the cheapest, I remember paying $0.89 a gallon in 1998.
