What are you doing while waiting for the baby?!

I left work with just under 2 weeks to go before my due date after being told that I should enjoy some time before my life changes! I left everything in place so that my replacements can function and run our events/activities with the youth program I run, but I am still involved in an email checking/social media sort of way. A far cry from my 40-60 hour work week!
I have never been very good at just sitting and being still. I've washed clothes, cleaned my house, taken a walk and done loads of Christmas shopping!
I can't be the only one going stir crazy! and i have 11 days till my due date! :)

  • @moroccojade You're not lazy. That sounds so nice.

I'm still training my sub, and plan to be here till my due date. Or until baby comes. I'm already to the point where I just point her in the right direction, and she's off. Not sure what I'll be good for in a week or so.

If I were off, I'd probably be polishing every corner of the house, and seeing friends I won't have time for pretty soon. :P

  • My other kids keep me busy, and I still have organizing and cleaning to do during these next couple weeks. That and work for school that I procrastinate on. We also binge watch shows on Netflix and Amazon.

  • I ended up not working Friday and did laundry and today is more laundry and cleaning.  I'm trying to get our bedroom cleaned up and not look like a horrific case of closet flu.  I've also started to pack up the maternity clothes that I've borrowed.  With being induced tomorrow, I'm wanting to go back to my minimal owned items and get rid of everything else.

I've also worked on some craft projects and organizing craft supplies.  I'm trying to stay busy around the house.  With any luck, my amazon order will arrive and I'll be able to get LO's baptism invites done and stuffed since they need to go out at the end of the week.  I still can't believe I scheduled it 4 weeks after she is born but its worth it so my grandma can be here for it and we can get a 4 generation photo taken.
  • Still working! Due date is next Wednesday. I took last week off and couldn't keep myself busy enough, so I'm back at work this week. Trying to stay distracted! It's hard being soooo anxious and excited. Hard waiting! I cleaned the house non-stop... Stuffed my face a lot... Watched a lot of tv when I felt at peace with how the house was looking... Drove myself insane though! But, I have to say... I'm at work... But here I am on Bump mobile! Can't keep busy or distracted anywhere! :)
  • So far today I've gone grocery shopping, done laundry, bought half a dozen cupcakes then came home and just ate two--oops, baked pumpkin and pecan pies, called our church about baptism, ordered a birthday gift for my sister, and paid some medical bills.

Now I'm going to install a rod in baby's closet, do some Rosetta Stone German, pick things up from the dry cleaner, and research 529 plans and wills. Then I might take a bath and read the news before making dinner in time for hubby to come home. It's a pretty good life =).

If you haven't done them yet, I'd highly suggest doing your Christmas / holiday cards. I feel so much better now that they are all written and addressed! Just need to sign them with baby's name, pop in baby announcements, and drop them in the mail.
    It's a girl! Due November 22, 2014
  • Im trying to do one thing a day to organize for baby. Some days it happens, other days not so much.
I've gone out for lunch, coffee, and dinner with friends and family, and of course doctor's appointments. The next two days I'm pretty much eating and reading. And bumping. Hoping I get some nesting energy back in the next few days.
  • I contemplated making fri my last day (due date is sun) but my fmla will start the first day gone which will leave me with sjorter time at the end. Is this the same with those of you that already took off?

  • I'm not off until the 22nd (due on the 27th), but since I was paranoid about getting everything ready early on, there won't be much left for me to do once I'm done with work. On my days off, I try to do maintenance cleaning, read, watch movies and spend quality time with DH and friends.

If I'm still waiting for baby once I'm officially off work, maybe I'll try to get some holiday baking done and frozen, do some Christmas shopping and probably more reading.

Even if you have a ton of energy, try not to overdo it! I have days where I feel like I MUST DO ALL THE THINGS and then the next day I'm in so much pain from not taking the time to slow down and rest.

I'm still working, but other than that I feel lazy and useless. I used to never get home before 8pm due to after-work meetings and appointments. Now I'm home by 5ish, usually nap since I sleep like crap, and eat all night. I'm such a sloth these days.
  • I'm actually starting maternity leave a week earlier than I planned but am looking forward to (hopefully) catching up on some sleep and just relaxing as much as I can.

I've already cleaned till I can't possibly clean anymore (although I'm sure I could find something else to clearn) and starting my Netflix binge sessions. Going to squeeze in one last massage, mani/pedi while I'm at it!
  • I am currently still working but hopefully ending by Friday if my baby girl doesn't come before then! I am due Wednesday but doing my job is becoming far to challenging (physical therapist for 3-5 year olds).

If I were home I would love to relax and try to get as much rest as possible and get the house clean before the baby comes. I don't have enough energy to get the whole house clean in one weekend, even with my husband's help.
  • I was planning to work until this baby arrived, but the sudden onset of pre eclampsia has changed my plans, now I'm home on bedrest until they induce me or do a c section. I'm due on the 27th..so potentially 2 more weeks of bedrest! I'm very thankful for Netflix, On Demand, my ipad and naps! I wish I could be up and cleaning, organizing and otherwise prepping for the baby. I did get all the baby clothes washed and put away, so i feel a bit more prepared.

I'm so jealous of you ladies who can go for walks around town or at the mall - I'd be so happy to get out of the house for something other than a non stress test or a doctor's appointment.
  • I'm still working until the 17th (due on the 28th), but once I'm off I plan on making sure the house is clean and organized for when he little guy gets here. I am so in the nesting mode, but work drains me every day ):
  • I've been off for a couple weeks now (due on the 27th). We moved 2 weeks ago, so I've been puttering around unpacking and spent the whole first week making a slew of freezer meals and washing/organizing baby clothes.

I've had zero energy since Friday and have been cramping with severe pressure for about a week now, so I'm finding it hard to be productive. I would love to do some reading this week and finish unpacking the last few boxes that are kicking around but I'll see how I feel.

Yes! I was just telling my husband that I really wish nesting had set in before 36 weeks when I didn't have problems with edema. Now if I ever go on a cleaning rampage/stay on my feet for longer than an hour I am pretty much useless the next day as I wait for the swelling to go back down :-(
  • Due tomorrow and still working. Planning to stay here until I pop being as I'm only taking 8 weeks maternity. Want to have all the time I can with Mr. Niko.

Given up on the endless cleaning, figured it's good enough and once I'm recovered, I'll have some "time" to do it then. Am still working on an art project/decoration for the nursery which isn't going so smoothly...

  • DH and I decided to hyper charge our regular friday date nights (to twice a week) until Butternut comes. We are eating at our favorite restaurants! I highly recommend this because not only do I get to eat all the foods but I get to connect with DH in a really great way.

Aside from that: cleaning (but my back pain has put a major damper on that), some cooking, organizing…lots of feelings (today i burst into tears because we don't have enough baby socks, then DH found a box of six socks that we hadn't opened) and lots of prenatal yoga.

  • I'm still working, and I'm swamped. I'm trying to get as much done as possible before I go into labor. I'm due 11/26, and I'm trying to make it as long as I can. I've found that I'm more productive and less miserable on workdays than weekends. I was really weepy and unfocused this last weekend, and I didn't accomplish much. We'll see how I feel as my due date gets closer.
  • I started knitting DS's Christmas stocking, but since I've been I leave for 1.5 weeks and still no baby yet I am half way through knitting DH's as well!
  • I am still working, so that's the main thing helping time pass! Although I'm struggling to still be working this week & it is SO hard, at least it's helping time pass! I am SO ready!! This weekend, I plan on spending some time with DS since it's his last couple days to be an only child, & we also have a very small checklist to complete: house cleaning, packing, & installing car seat!!! I can't believe it's almost here! :)

Sitting at work, with nothing to do. Googling, worrying, waiting, analyzing. Seriously I'm going to go crazy!! I am no good at this waiting thing and evidently 9 months of pregnancy is my breaking point! I can't pull myself back into reality, just keep thinking this is NEVER going to happen (despite the obvious that soon something will!) Words of encouragent for this crazy pregnant lady!? Lol I'm clearly having a meltdown.

I am crazy too. I have had my past 3 pregnancies late and everytime 37-41 weeks I'm psycho about baby not coming.

It really does feel like baby won't come ever.
  • I am now sufficiently bored that I'm doing Alumni Virtual Trainings from my old company, and going through email to read all the articles people have sent me over the last yearw. I never thought I'd actually have time to do that.
    It's a girl! Due November 22, 2014
  • Count me in as bored at work too, when I don't have to deal with crazies and/or difficult people (YAY public library). I've finished all of my projects up, so the only substantial things I have left to do are two programs this week (already planned and set to go): a baby storytime and booktalks and a tour for an elementary school for kids with autism. Next week is my last week and I'm planning on spending a lot of time just reading at the desk (which I usually never have the luxury to do). I'll be reading kids/YA lit though, mind you, so totally relevant to the job! :)

  • My last day of work is tomorrow..I'm due the 25th. I am planning on going and getting a mani/pedi, writing thank you notes for my showers I had last month and enjoying the last few weeks of P&Q before LO arrives. I foresee lots of naps, walks and couch time in my near future.
