Trying to Get Pregnant

NTTGP---What are you getting hubby for Christmas??

Okay ladies.. I am completely clueless on what to get the hubby for Christmas. We are the type of people that just buy what we want throughout the year so there is nothing major sitting on the list. I hate being lame and buying just the standard stuff he needs (new work boots & shirts etc). Looking for some other fun ideas to throw in the mix. What's on your hubby's list?

Re: NTTGP---What are you getting hubby for Christmas??

  • I told DH around his bday in August that I was going to get him some new steel toed boots for Christmas since I couldn't get them for his bday. Those are definitely within budget for Christmas gifts and plus something else.

There is something very special that he wants on his Christmas list and they aren't very cheap. He wants a deep freezer for his venison. I looked at home depot and they run the range of $700-$1000. I'm thinking for this to happen, I might split this as a combined gift from my side of the family to him. We will see.

  • I bought DH an Xbox one and some casual button-ups/shirts. I also found one of those digital picture keychains on clearance at BBB so I thought that would be a nice stocking stuffer.

I'll probably also buy some more of the A Song of Fire and Ice books (that's the name of the series right? Not GoT? I don't wanna look like an idiot mixing up the books/TV series lol) that he needs to complete the series and some candy for his stocking.

He told me he wants NHL '15. Other than that, probably a few tshirts. We don't really do a lot for each other. We get a lot for the kids.

  • I bought H cobalt wrenches that he had been eyeing and a football sweatshirt of his favorite team. I might also get him some sneakers because our dog chewed his running sneakers when he was a puppy and they are starting to fall apart.
  • We are broke so I am making everyone their gifts. Crochet. So DH is getting an Auburn beanie hat and perhaps a scarf. He isn't a big gifter so no matter what I do his reaction is the same...."Oh! Thanks!"

If I can save up enough I'll get him a gift card to best buy. He has a love affair with that place. Ever heard of the geek squad? Well---he IS the geek squad. :)

We got a big green egg as a wedding present and we are beyond obsessed with it!!

I'm getting DH an xbox 1 and hopefully tickets to whatever bowl game Auburn ends up at as long as it's somewhere in the southeast

  • I feel like we almost need a weekly craft check in with all the yarnia I've seen recently.

DH wants to learn guitar so I'm getting him a beginner set. I'm also making a calendar for his work with pictures of our cats. I will probably buy him a few new shirts and maybe protein bars for his stocking

DH is IMPOSSIBLE to shop for! He buys everything he needs, so he never really wants anything. But he does want an electric smoker, and I noticed it was circled in the Cabela's Christmas catalog, so I guess that's what he's getting.

I told him that if I get him the smoker, and he gets me a carpet chameleon, then that should be it. Those are two expensive gifts as it is, and DH tends to go overboard on gifts for me.

I got my FI a pair of steel-toed boots at Dicks for a little under $100 for his bday. He absolutely loves them and said they are way comfy. Clicky for linky.

He wants too much. His list includes a PS4, bolt-on power tools, and a Carhartt jacket. Well, its not too a lot, just costs a lot of money.

@cateyes543 If you're ordering from thinkgeek, you need to order waaaaaaay out. Last year their shipping was a clusterfuck even if you ordered in the first week of December. It took forever for H's stuff to get here. They have so much great stuff on the site, but the way their shipping works is a total nightmare.

@NachoBelley I want a Big Green Egg so bad! Am jealous.

@AprilH81 I got H The Simpsons house for our anniversary. Last year I did the Millennium Falcon for Christmas. If he really likes Legos, they also do Advent Calendars that are really fun. H has a dedicated set of shelves for his.

ETA: What I am getting H, duh. There's a semi-nice power tool set on sale at Home Depot this week, so I'm going to sneak out today or tomorrow and hopefully get one. He's wanted one for a couple of years. Probably another Lego set. Maybe some clothes. I love buying presents sooooo much, it's hard for me to make decisions.

  • @hydrangea1019 I like that idea! We just moved and I've been wanting a desktop computer so maybe we will do some kind of house gift for the both of us.
We usually just do stocking stuffers. His bday is Dec 17th so if I cheat on the stocking stuffers I usually just give it to him as a bday gift. This year is the big 3-0 though and so I'm throwing him a party and therefore won't be getting him gifts. His gifts are normally just clothes and boxers though since I swear he doesn't buy any throughout the year. I think I'll fill his stocking with boxers and beer.

A Song of Ice and Fire by George RR Martin is what you want for buying the books.

I have been buying a few things here and there for DH.  He always outdoes me on presents.  So far, off of the top of my head, I have bought a few little items for him: a Firefly hat, a Star Wars Tie Clip, A Shaun of the Dead Winchester Pub Pint Glass, a bottle of Scorpion Pepper Sauce and a Doctor Who Tardis Tie. We are big nerds!
  • We haven't exchanged gifts since 2007. W3 have to buy a ridiculous amount of gifts for family, so there's never anything left over to spend.
I asked to draw names between his sisters and their husbands this year, but my youngest SIL pitched a Bitch fit because she likes opening presents. She's 25 and married!! I'm trying to slim down my spending so we can put more money into our "buying a new house fund"

For stocking stuffers I always get him a pair of fun socks and a meaningful Christmas ornament. On top of that I also did one of those page a day calendars for his desk, some candy, a new pair of iPhone headphones (he goes thru those like crazy) and some new winter gloves.

  • The Book of Mormon is playing here around Christmas/New Year's so I sprung for the tickets back in late September or October. They were expensive tickets! We have both wanted to see this musical for years but never thought it would actually come to OKC. When H first learned of it, he downloaded the entire thing on iTunes.

He'll spring for the fancy dinner after. ;)

In the past I have bought him a new watch (my personal favorite, it's beautiful and he wears it every single day), a nice bathrobe (he's wearing that right now), a PS3 (we use it mostly for blu-rays, which is often). I like practical gifts most of the time.
We got Book of Mormon tickets last year for Christmas and it was awesome! You will love it :)

AFM, I have to get double the presents because DH's birthday is Christmas Day. I am thinking about getting him a nice new duffle bag for his soccer equipment (he coaches) since he has been carrying around an old nasty one. After that I'm out of ideas...

Are we married to the same person? That's what DH is like down. He's my own personal geek squad.

We're actually debating forgoing individual gifts and getting ourselves an Xbox one. We're both big gamers and have been dying to get one. If we don't do that, I'll probably get him some more seasons of the The Walking Dead (that's the next show he's working on collecting). I finished his Breaking Bad collection for his birthday.

  • H and I fill each others stockings every year. It's little stuff that we need and some that we want. We get eachother silly stuff and practical stuff, ie. Small nerf guns, new toothbrush, chopsticks, deodorant. It works for us, we get stuff from both our families so we dont need to go all out for each other. Plus my favorite part is just opening all the small stuff from the stockings.

Ps. Every time I typed stocking I tried to spell it stalking... dumb.
