Re: ***IUI Check-In 11/9***

  • 6dpiui here.  I'm feeling all the side effects of progesterone that I missed last time - nausea, bloating, peeing every 5 minutes, boobs hurt... Obviously it would be too early for any real symptoms, but it's still messing with me a little!

QOTW: When I was in 5th grade I got a horse for Christmas.  Not just any horse, but the horse I rode in my weekly lessons and was totally in love with.  I still get all emotional when I think about it - I was in shock for like a month!  Best surprise ever.

Nothing really stands out as the worst... I guess I am surrounded by good gift-givers.

  • Thanks @AnnaClaire256‌ for keeping this update (and changing my user name. I finally figured out how to change mine, thanks to @Rumbera28‌ , stupid TK).

Anyhoo, I am currently 10dpiui and in 2WW, which has been much easier this time around. To be honest having had the disappointment last time, makes my brain more settled this time around. Also we have spoken with our local children's aid society and have paperwork being sent to start the long adoption process, so that is exciting! Plus it's our 4 year wedding anniversary this Thursday. Lots to be excited about.

GL @mbrookeRN‌ for this cycle. To be honest I have never felt any of these 'typical' progesterone symptoms others talk about. Not sure what that's about.

FX for everyone in process this month. Hugs to those benched.

  • Shoot, I always forget the QOTW. Best Xmas present was my amazing engagement ring. Even though cliche, DH proposed on Xmas morning, but was so funny, as he had 2 bail outs set in case he chickened out (he was so nervous). He first had the gift hidden behind the couch. Then when he gave it to me, he had it wrapped with season 4 of Weeds (long story but we were into that series at the time) and then the ring was in a decoy box I had thrown out a few nights before :).

Worst gift was probably the Toronto Maple Leafs t-shirt I got for Xmas from my grandparents when I was 19. I seriously despise hockey, and it wasn't a gag gift. Lol.

    Love these questions :).

  • Good Morning and Good Luck to everyone this cycle!

This time around I was greeted with a nice little cyst to start my cycle! Luckily not big enough to bench me on my last round before our consult, but still I was not amused.  It seems every little thing that goes wrong at my RE sends me in a horrific bout of tears, but I'm in a much better place today.  Ultrasound Friday and IUI #6 most likely on Saturday or Monday.

QOTW: My DH just bought me diamond earings for my 30th birthday this summer!  It was cute becasue I told him that would be my treat to myself (I'm not big on the whole push present idea) when I find out that we're finally having a baby, and when he gave them to me, he simply said "why wait!?"

     Me: 30 ~ DH: 30

  • Currently 6DPO and could care less - just thinking ahead to the next step now. So excited for an RE consult on Wednesday. Not even interested in testing this TWW...the one lonely Wondfo left in the drawer can just hang tight until next month. :)

QOTW: Best gift: I was obsessed with The Boxcar Children in first grade. For my birthday (or Christams?), my dad gave me #1 in the series. There was a slip inside with a rhyming clue of how to find #2 hidden in the house (it's a mystery series). I spent the day chasing all over the house trying to solve the clues with my dad until I found all 38 or however many were published at that time!

Worst gift: In 6th grade, I was so dorky and the clothes my mom always bought for me didn't help. I snuck in her closet to look at birthday presents early and thought I saw a bag of 3 awesome pairs of colored flare jeans (all the rage). Finally! Then on my birthday, they turned out to be 3 pairs of awkward, large denim walking shorts in purple, pink, and teal. Never wore the suckers. Thankfully I started babysitting regularly in 7th and 8th grade and started doing my own clothes shopping!

@bluefairy5 I like to blame things on 3T. Like, "Many of my IF friends have IUIs schedule 36 hours post trigger. Do you think that's something we could try changing up since we've tried it this way a few times?

  • Thanks for including me in the check-in @AnnaClaire256‌! I'm not in the 2ww just yet though. I went in for a follicle scan yesterday and had a 23mm and an 18mm on my open tube side! I did my first trigger last night (I was so nervous but like many of you said, it was NO big deal), and have my IUI scheduled for 7am tomorrow morning. I'm having lots of pain on my left side and am nervous that I'm going to ovulate today which would be too soon from everything I've read... Hopefully those follies hang on until at least midnight tonight.

QOTW: Best gift... Either my favorite handbag or an amazing pair of pumps my husband picked out (he has excellent taste and is actually brave enough to pick out shoes for me lol). Worst gift is hard, I'm pretty easy to buy for so I haven't had many gifts that I've hated. I was slightly miffed when my husband (boyfriend at the time) gave me acne face wash as one of my Christmas gifts. Sure, it was nice stuff from Sephora, but we had only been dating a year and it was kinda embarrassing to have my bad skin be the focus of his Christmas shopping!

  • @bandm Good luck at IUI! Those sound like great numbers. When I was freaking out about feeling O pains the early afternoon before the next morning's IUI, everyone here let me know that they commonly get their strongest O pains the day before O - and according to ultrasound the next morning, that is exactly what had happened to me, too! So don't worry about those O pains. :)

  • Thanks @BunnyBerry! That makes me feel a lot better :). The pain is pretty bad (I feel it almost every time I move) but hopefully that's because the follies are nice and big and means I will O tomorrow! Thank God for this site or I would go crazy over so much of this... reading about all of your IUI experiences has really put me at ease for my first one. I'm not even nervous about the procedure itself, just praying it works!

@BlueFairy5 I hope that works out with the insurance company so that you don't have to change practices!! GL! I like Bunny's idea about addressing the IUI timing with your RE. Mine does it 36 hrs after trigger, I might be a little worried if it was 26 since 36 is average to O (like you said).

    @AnnaClaire256

Hi ladies! Can I join you? I hate that any of us are going through this, but have already found so much comfort in this board.

    1. Where are you at in the IUI process? (2WW, meds, break, etc.)

I just finished Letrozole Saturday and am getting ready to start my monitoring.
    2. Which IUI are you on?

#1 I am driving myself crazy with timing sex and wondering what is going on with my body.
    3. Test/Beta day?

I don't know yet. I am starting Progesterone shortly after IUI and will have bloodwork at 7DPO, so I will probably hold out as long as possible. I have never been one to test early, so probably 14DPO if needed.

EDIT: QOTW- The best gift I have ever recevied was a puppy. My parents got her for me when I was 10 and having surgery. She was great for snuggles, entertainment, and company throughout my childhood. The worst gift I ever received is LifeSaver Bubble Bath-great if you are 8, but not so great at 25!

  • Hi everyone! On 7dpiui, nothing new going on...just the waiting game.

QOTW - Best gift was my engagement ring (which was a week before Christmas) DH insisted it wasn't my Christmas gift but still was my favorite.
Worst gift - a porcelain doll when I was 16 years old, it was from my half sister, who I have never been close with and this just proved it. I probably would have appreciated it more when I was younger but at 16 I just wasn't into that.

  • Hi everyone! Thanks for including me. I had my ultrasound today on CD 11 and had one lonely measurable follicle at 20. I had 4 others but they were <10. My official dx is DOR so this is not a surprise. My lining looks good at 9c and where I am at in my cycle with a mature follicle looks good so I will do the trigger shot tonight and IUI #1 on Wed!

I am doing acupuncture before and after the IUI. It has become so relaxing for me that I really look forward to it now.

I guess I am just happy that I responded to the meds and that my cycle wasn't cancelled.

MH and I are praying every day and have met with our priest who is praying for us too.

FX for all those in the TWW and thoughts and prayers for everyone who is here dealing with IF because it pretty much blows.  Thanks for listening to my post!!!

  • HI everyone!  Just had my second IUI on Saturday, so now just have to sit around during my 2WW.. I just hate the 2WW...time goes by so slowly!

The best gift I every got was a trip to Bermuda! I had been wanting to go forever and was totally surprised.

The worst gift I ever got was a gold fish. I had been wanted kitten and was begging my parents for months. When the holidays came around I was sure they were getting me the kitten and it turned out to be a fish. I was so disappointed!

  • I'm on day 12 of the tww...but won't test until day 14 or 16. Been disappointed too many times to test early. No reason so far to expect anything exciting, but who knows? Best gift was a cocker spaniel puppy one Easter when I was a kid. Worst gift was a crazy dog broach from my grandmother. I still laugh about it, though, so not sure it qualifies as a true 'worst'. :). Good luck everyone !

  • @BlueFairy5‌ wishing you lots of follie growth over the next few days!

Update for me-- IUI #1 this morning went fairly smoothly. My follicles were still there, which I was happy about, but now I'm stressing that they won't ovulate within the recommended 6 hours of insemination. Guess there's not much I can do about that now! I'm still having pain on my left side whenever I move, and I'm taking that to mean that the follicles are still there (but who knows). DH's counts were great, 46 million motile sperm. This is going to be a longgg TWW! Good luck to everyone else waiting!!!

Mine: Lose the weight I put on from booze and cookies over Christmas.

  • @AnnaClaire256 I would like to be added to this (not really sure how these boards work exactly).  We are in the 2WW portion after our 1st IUI.  I was diagnosed with premature ovarian failure (33 years old at Dx, now 34 years old).  AMH .28, FSH 14.  Before supplements (25 mg DHEA 3x/day and 300mg of CoQ10 2x/day) I only had 1-2 antral follicles show up on Day 3 u/s.  After supplements, had 10 AFs on Day 3.  I took Letrozole days 3 through 7 this cycle and 4 follicles survived/grew per my Day 12 u/s.  Had HCG trigger shot on Day 15, IUI on Day 16.  My HCG blood test is scheduled for 11/17/14.  Would love to hear success stories from IUI.
  • So I go into today to meet with RE to discuss what we're doing next as far as moving onto iui #4 or moving onto something else. But my AF doesn't really seem like AF it's just spotting and not red in color. So I may have blood work done today depending on if everything looks okay. Something is probably wrong...I'm a little nervous.

QOTW : The best gift I ever received was a homemade wooden jewelry box that I received from my now husband. It was super thoughtful and he worked hard on it which makes it even more special.

Worst Gift: don't really have one:)
  • Sorry you weren't ready to trigger today @BlueFairy5. Try to keep your head up. It's great news that your other follie grew 4 mm and that you added two with potential to mature as well! I was just reading an article from a medical journal yesterday that was talking about how much your chances increase with multiple follicles (I think it was something like 9% with one and 20% with two or more!). So, although you have to wait, maybe it will work out by giving you some more mature follies in the end! FX for good news at your scan on Saturday :).

But, don't beat yourself up. They are growing, albeit slowly. By Saturday you may have three of a good size! As long you aren't surging, you should be fine. Until Saturday, grow follies grow!

    BlueFairy5 grow folllies grow!!!

@ everyone in the 2WW I feel for you.  For me that's the worst part of the whole process.

  • Hi all- I am joining you all this month. We just had our first iui on Monday. So I'm 3 days past. Technically in our tww. This month I did letrozole 3-7, and then an us on day 12, with three follicles one been 18mm. My lining was 7.5 which they would have like to see thicker but thought it was ok to proceed with the iui. We got 5m sperm so fx this works.

Best gift was for my 30th, my husbands aunt got me a necklace with my daughters handprints on it.

No real bad gifts but I am known as a perpetual returner so I get a lot of gift cards.

  • Good bye clomid and hello follitsim! I had my day 3 u/s Tuesday and everything looked great. As far as my AF being weird they said it's probably just all my hormones. They ended up giving me a pregnancy test to be sure and then we decided to get a little more aggressive with treatment. We are no longer doing clomid, but are switching to injections. I started that on Tuesday and will continue that through Friday. I go back in on Saturday morning for blood work and another ultrasound. I'm happy to be getting more aggressive and I'm just praying that this will be the change up we need to conceive. Heading into iui #4 I am positive...I just wish it was time to test again....already dreading the 2WW and I'm only on cd5. It's going to be a long month.

Hi guys, working nights so it is harder to find time to post. Our monitoring appointment was on Monday with 4follicles -19, 17, 16, 12. They had me give the trigger there and we did the iui on Tuesday afternoon. The ovidrel went much better than the normal hcg, no allergic reaction at all :) Does anyone happen to know, when they report follicle size do they go by the smallest dimension? Because when my RE was reading off the follicles to the nurse the biggest two were over 20mm in the larger dimension so I was really excited and then disappointed when I read my note afterwards. DH had >10million motile so that is exciting. Hopefully #2will be the lucky cycle for us. How many monitoring appointments do you guys usually have? For the 3 cycles my RE has been monitoring we have done no blood work and just one ultrasound that they moved one day later each cycle. @wannabeamother I'm glad that you are moving forward and feeling good about the more aggressive cycle! My favorite gift was probably the pair of dressy ugg boots my husband got me one year. They fall into the category of I wouldn't have spent that much but they are quite comfy and I wear them almost constantly during the winter when I'm not at work. Worst present was probably when my family did a secret Santa and there was nothing under the tree for me, just an amazon gift card in my email. Sorry for the huge block of text, I am posting mobile and the line breaks I put in aren't showing up.

  • @Bluefairy5 sorry it's going slowly but i'm glad things are looking good!

    @murrt so sorry : (

10piui/11dptrigger today.  I REALLY wanted to test this morning, I haven't at all yet this cycle and I was negative by this time last cycle.  I managed to stop myself because A) I only have one test left, and B) if it's negative I'll just say it's too early to tell, and if it's positive I'll think it could still be from the trigger (which is totally possible).  I'm going to try to hold out until Tuesday which is the day of my beta.  I'm a little scared this time because this is the first cycle I've felt a little hopeful in a long time.  All of my symptoms could just be the progesterone, but they do feel different than last time.  So we'll see.  Luckily I am working the next 3 days so that will help keep me busy.

  • Update for me. BFN today. I wasn't feeling too optimistic his month, so I wasn't surprised or devastated this month, but it always is frustrating. 4 years TTC officially was yesterday. Boo for IF. To top it off I'm sick and don't even feel like wine because I already have a headache. We will take a few days and then decide next steps. Sigh. @mbrookeRN‌ FX for you. I have a feeling it's your cycle! I hope there were some BFP being announced in the next couple of days!

Sorry @murrt and @redandblue‌ for the BFN's. I am in the same boat - welcome, cd 1! I was wondering, pcos ladies, have any of you ever increased your femara dose to try to get more than one follie? I asked my doctor about it, and she basically told me I could try if I wanted, it wouldn't hurt. Um, ok? I was looking for a bit more of a medical opinion from my RE than 'what-ev's". Any thoughts?
