Trouble TTC

FIRST RE LAB RESULTS!!!

Just got a call from the RE on my first lab results:
I'll tell you my numbers FSH level is high at 15.9 normal is 10. This can cause ovarian reserve issues I guess. Follicle count is normally 10-20 and I'm at an 8. They said this doesn't mean I can't get pregnant but we'll need to have aggressive treatment meaning skipping IUI and going straight to IVF. my thyroid is little bit low and might need to start taking Synthroid. We're waiting on the AMH results to see what I have left on my ovaries. This would be a concern if I were 35-40 but because I'm considered "young" we can get pregnant.

Re: FIRST RE LAB RESULTS!!!

  • I actually feel horrible about it @BunnyBerry‌. I'm reading online that even IVF chances are low success rate because of the high FSH and women use a donor egg and that fertility drugs may not even work for it. @rainbowbridge14‌ still waiting to hear back about the AFC count.
  • Thanks @BlueFairy5‌!! I'll check those boards out.
  • Hey @BlueFairy5‌ . What do those boards stand for in full context? Sorry to have you type it all out but I can't seem to find it. Thanks!!!
  • I'll jump in here for @BlueFairy5‌. They stand for Pregnant After Infertility and Success After Infertility. I agree with checking those boards for advice. Google can be very tricksy.*

That is a lot to swallow in one go, but don't get discouraged. If your doc thinks IVF might work, trust that he/she knows what they are talking about. IF can seem like a life sentence sometimes, but there are too many variables to lose hope. Good luck!

*right back at ya Blue :)

  • Thank you @mshandlebar‌ !! Yes, this RE has been doing this longer then both DH and I were born and went into this because he had infertility issues. He came highly recommended by many people. I'm looking for any positive success stories from this. It totally feels like a life sentence. I felt horrible giving the news today to DH. It's his birthday. He just wants to plug away at the IVF quickly because I'm losing eggs as I get older. He said today it's a good thing I took a part time nanny position to do all of this.
  • I'm late here, but I just wanted to poke in and say hello and I'm sorry for your struggles. Getting bits and pieces of test results at a time can sometimes raise more questions and worry than relief. Do you have a follow up appointment scheduled with the RE? I know it is so difficult, but its usually best to wait until that follow up to try to figure out your predicted success rate because you'll have the whole picture. IVF is used for so many women with such varying diagnoses and test results so it can be difficult to generalize those success rates to your exact situation.

Hugs to you! It sucks to finally get the IF "stamp", but we're all here for you.

    Me: 28  MH:35

    Cycle 3 (Jan 2015): 5mg Letrozole/Ovidrel/TI - BFN

  • Sorry that your results were disappointing. Moving to IVF sounds like a good plan. Hugs and GL

Official diagnosis: Unexplained IF. I am 32. I have low ovarian reserve (low AMH), and poor egg quality. I've also been diagnosed with mild glandular developmental arrest (lining problems, detected with EFT).

We are using open ID donor sperm. IUIs #1-7=BFN. IVF September 2014 antagonist protocol, 8R,5M,3F, 5 day transfer of 1 morula = BFN. IVF#2 planned for January 2015 (antagonist protocol + HGH).

  • As someone who also has ovarian reserve issues, I just wanted to say that I'm so sorry for the difficult news. IF sucks. Consider introing on Infertility if you do move straight to ivf. That board is mostly IVF cyclers and a wealth of information.

  • @murrt‌ is TSH the follicle level? If not then I haven't received those results yet. @LindseyM2012‌ we have an RE follow up after my saline U/S and DH's lab work have been completed. Both of those will be done next week. We're hoping by December to do the follow up with him. I also can email him anytime I want and he said he's usually quick to respond. I'm going to start Synthroid tomorrow. I'll be asking him percentage of success for our fertility issues. I'll keep everyone posted on the AMH results. I guess that will be the final determination of my ovarian reserves. The nurse called tonight telling me she called in the Synthroid and I asked her what we can do to get my LSH up. She told me to take coq-10 which DH takes for his low sperm count. She skso said to take pregnitude. Has anyone take pregnitude and if they had success with it?
  • They said I'm at 2.5 TSH. Even though it's a slight difference they still want me on Synthroid.
  • @murrt‌ I guess that makes sense. @sammae‌ I've been lurking in those same boards too. Good luck with your AMH results! @LDubHawksFan‌ thank you for the support!
