Infertility

You know you're an infertility patient when...

I was thinking about all the things we do when dealing with IF that the outside world totally doesn't get.  I thought this could be a fun thread where we share our "odd" habits.  I'll start:

You know you're an IF patient when you've replaced tampons in every purse and work bag with progesterone vaginal suppositories.  Just in case you're not home when you need one.

  • lol  I found middle ground. no maternity pants, but my real clothes did not fit either. I lived in yoga pants and leggings for a good month lol
  • @buninthelab that is soo true ...does anyone 'just' have twins anymore lol
  • You know you're an IF patient because when most people get an expensive package in the mail, they get excited, but you know it's just a box full of needles and meds to make you feel like crap for the forseeable future.

  • NariaDreaming, that's my favorite so far. I think mine actually got to a dozen after all the monitoring then the doctor, a fellow, and med student in addition to the nurses at ER.

When you're walking around your office in a billowy shirt with your pants not only unbuttoned but unzipped, and it's not because you're pregnant, gained weight, or even just ate a big meal. It's because you're so freakin' constipated from ER.
Hahaha YES! Literally Mon and Tues this week I had to find long, billowy shirts because I had to keep my pants unbuttoned AND unzipped because I was so damn bloated from too many follies (had to cancel the cycle bc I'm doing IUI, not IVF). I seriously considered going to the store to buy new pants. UGH!
  • @NariaDreaming‌ hmm ... I should be starting stims soon, and I have 2 or 3 pairs of maternity pants... wonder if I should take them out of the "one day baby" box in the spare bedroom/hopefully future nursery ??

It's things like this that make me immensely happy that I wear scrubs to work. Sometimes its like wearing my pajamas all day. Heaven when you are already ridiculously uncomfortable and in pain from ER.

If people come over you have to run around and hide bags if needles, what looks like an entire pharmacy of medication vials and a few biohazard containers. God forbid you forget to hide about the Gonal in the back of the fridge and the slew of pills on the counter. If they looked under the bathroom sink they will find the obsessive pregnancy test stash!

I was doing this just yesterday. when my mom came, and I had to take my first injection. I have my Meds on the bottom shelf of the fridge door, and would hate for her to ask me  questions about my stash of boxes.

Oh yeah I forgot about my scrubs lol Plus I can wear a larger lab coat and unbutton my pants and no one will be the wiser! :)

  • CRMhoney so right about sex. Who would have thought that when trying to get pregnant you would have less sex. I have been way too uncomfortable since day 9 of stims and sick after ER to even think about it and now we are into our TWW so you know the rules about that.

  • @CRMhoney‌ lol I love the comment about practically being an unlicensed GYN! I'll get going on IF talk and realize I have to back up an explain everything IRL! I feel like we should get some kind of honorary degree for all this education/personal hands on experience we've received. Lol
