Get your love tits ready, as I'm sure this one will be wildly popular...

    I watch Fox News.

    It's such a funny show!

Yes, I like watching it for the comedy, like a bunch of idiots arguing about how Santa Claus is white. Hilarious.

    So...Santa's not white? Kidding.
Clearly I don't agree with the uber-liberal politics on this board, but it sure is interesting/somewhat comical to hear your perspectives.
  • As fucking ridiculous as Fox News is, Rush Limbaugh is like stand up comedy. I wish he had a TV show. It's like toddlers throwing a fit, but because they're not yours, it's kind of cute and funny. Like when babies swear. It's like, "Awwww....they don't even know what they're saying, they're just repeating someone else, so adorable but they just don't know any better!"

  • Here's a question- is there a difference between local fox and the national one? Haters gonna hate but I love my fox Boston. Don't always agree with their views, but love the anchor people.

I like Fox Boston too, but more for the morning entertainment than the news.

Wow. You think this board is über-liberal? I know there are a few here, but for the most part I feel like it leans more conservative than anything. Also, you forgot the umlaut.

This board or the bump overall?  I definitely find the bump overall to be pretty liberal.

I think it's a larger, quieter conservative group.

I had no idea I could make an umlaut using my mobile phone...and I did have to google the word "umlaut."

In my experience, liberals are generally more outspoken. So I agree w/ Vinny that there is a quieter, larger conservative group both on the Bump and on a national scale.
  • I disagree that conservatives are quieter on a national scale, though I for one would be happy if they were! :) really, I think both sides are vocal on the national platform.

On the bump, I agree that there is a loud voice from the liberal side, but I welcome more conservative bumpies to chime in more so it's not so boring in discussions. Healthy debate is good for everyone.

Yes, a healthy debate would be wonderful. I get quite a bit of slack for my conservative opinions when I do chime in, so I don't contribute very often.
  • I think a liberal bumpie could easily bring up the abortion issue and get flamed away by a conservative bumpie or two.

    That is definitely true.

I've always felt the board was more liberal myself. I'm moderate but I have noticed that a lot of times when someone that is conservative says something, people disagree a bit more disrespectfully than when someone says something very liberal. Not everyone disagrees disrespectfully, but it seems like it's more accepted to be a jerk if you are being a jerk towards a conservative rather than a liberal. Maybe not, I could totally be wrong. It would be interesting to do a poll and see which direction the board lies more toward.

I think a lot of that has to do w/ the specific issue. The issues I see blowing up tend to be marriage equality, pro choice topics & welfare. I'm trying to think of something I could say, as a liberal, that would incite a rash of convective bumpies to flame me and I'm coming up blank.

Disclaimer, I'm not saying all conservatives feel the same way about the aformentioned topics. :)

I agree, but I think sometimes those issues that have a conservative viewpoint flamed is often misunderstood. I'm going to use marriage equality as an example. I've spent my life in conservative, evangelical churches where homosexuality is regarded as a sin and gay marriage wasn't endorsed because they believe marriage should be between a man and a women. I am very pro marriage equality and although I don't agree that gay marriage should be illegal, I understand their point of view without assuming that they are bigots who hate gays. I've actually been very lucky and have never met a bigot in church, not that there aren't any but I have never met a true Christian who hates gays. (Met some that identify as Christian and hate gays, but they don't really practice any Christianity despite what they say.) I understand that their belief about what marriage is shapes their opinion on the issue. Though I don't agree i don't automatically assume that their bigots, kwim? However if someone came on here and said that I'm pretty sure many would just lay it into them pretty good.

Sorry if that doesn't make sense. Trying to do too many things at once right now lol.

  • @hordol I *kind* of see where you're coming from, but just because someone's religion shapes their view doesn't make my liberal self go 'well that's okay then'...because it's still wrong to deny others basic human rights, no matter WHAT your reason is. Does that make sense? If it were a matter of actual opinion, like saaaaay I don't like pierced ears on little girls, then that's just one person's choice vs another's. But yeah, if someone comes on the board and says gay people shouldn't be able to get married because the bible says so, then yeah, I'm going to flame the shit out of them. Conservative, liberal, tea party, flying spaghetti monster...if you're okay with treating members of the human race differently based on age, gender, race or sexual orientation, then you're pretty much a guaranteed twat. Edit - All that to say I don't flame someone because they're conservative, I flame someone if they're a terrible human being...whatever their political background may be. Lol
Late to the party but I love a good pastafarian reference!
