Ok. As for the last name shite. Guess what. My sister and I killed it.
We have a surname that will not be used in our area again after my father, uncle, and cousin passes, my cousin will probably never have kids, ( accidents do happen though) and therefore my generation has killed the family surname And you know what my dad said about this " I don't care, I have a healthy family and two beautiful girls , what's in a name" .... Pathetic excuse to want a boy really. It's all about penises and vaginas. At least you won't get pee in your mouth when they start to pee when you change the nappy .... Be happy. You'll get over the disappointment, as soon as you see a healthy baby

I heard this relentlessly when DH and I first got married, from his 5 aunts. Five. They all thought it was so much fun to pressure us about having a boy bc he's the last with the family name.. Right, like I have ANY kind of control over that. So I secretly kind of sort of loved the fact that we're having 2 girls, for that reason haha.

I have so much love for this thread. Here my bit:

1. I have a 33 yr old older brother, my mom has a 66 yr old older brother. BOTH of them spent significant periods of their lives either ignoring, torturing, or completely abandoning their younger sisters. Shitty excuses for family members, regardless of sex and birth order.

2. The strong personality characteristics of my dad's side of the family do not die when women are married/change name and grandaughters are born with different last names. MH will tell you that being a woman in my family MEANS something...regardless of our last name. We are quite a force to behold.

My cousins and I (24 female cousin) created a slogan recently "[Last Name] Women get Shit Done"...and YES we do!

I'm the oldest and I protect this kid like he's my own child! We are almost 5 years apart and I practically had to help raise him without my dad being around a lot. He's one of my very best friends in this entire world.
