Remember that many ladies here have been trying for YEARS to have any baby of any sex, and some of us have experienced many losses along the way. It's natural to have your heart set on one gender or another, but take a look back at your post through the eyes of a woman who has struggled through years of invasive, expensive, painful, and heartbreaking fertility treatments and losses--how do you think you sound?

I don't think you're a horrible person since you are uneasy about your feeling of sadness. Give yourself one or two days to feel sad about the son you will not be having, and then you need to focus on your baby girl. As the mother of a firstborn daughter, I can truly say that nothing has delighted me more or brought more joy to my life. Your daughter is exactly who she is supposed to be - I hope you can see that and enjoy your pregnancy and enjoy her.
Nope. You're getting a BABY! It's not like you need a boy to be next in line for the throne. We tried for so long to get pregnant before finally turning to IVF, I just can't understand people who get pg then turn around and feel sorry for themselves that they aren't getting the sex they wanted. How about adopting a baby boy if you don't get one naturally?
Ask a question, don't get the desired answer, flounce out silently without even so much as a "thank you, I hadn't thought of it that way, I appreciate the new perspective on things." Sheesh.
Nope. We are only supposed to love and support. Now get off her post!
My best friend had an older brother who ignored her 75% of the time and tortured her the other 25% of the time. Older boys are not always there to look out for their siblings and older sisters are not always drama queens.

I'm not sure why you removed the original post, it seemed like you were getting some good responses. Putting my two cents in; I'm the oldest of 3 and my parents were so happy that it happened that way. Because like @scoutfinch13 said, I was more eager to help with my little siblings. And now I help with the cooking and my mom is one of my best friends. Having a boy first doesn't necessarily mean you'll have a daughter next, and that he'll protect her when they get older. My mom has an older brother and he pretty much wanted her to leave him alone and not try and hang out with him all the time as teenagers. And then my mom grew up to be more mature than him. So honestly it doesn't really matter what you have first or second or whatever, it's all what you make it. Like pp have said, just be thankful you're having a healthy baby! That's a blessing in itself.

I just came for the DD.
But being slightly disappointed with sex is understandable and normal. But thinking you have to have a boy first so they can protect the girl, that is just not reality.
I feel the need to defend girls. Wtf is wrong with having a girl? It's like people think they're not as good as boys. Makes me sick. Being female is awesome. Having a girl is awesome. Girls are just as good as boys.
I better not get started. I think this is all so sad.
Speaking of food, I just talked a co-worker into bringing me back a pumpkin pie shake from Freddy's Frozen Custard. If you've never had a pumpkin pie shake, you're missing out on life. That's all.
OP - this is not directed at you or your original post...
And just because I'm starting today off on a tear - @carter604, did you really mean to lovetit that shitty statement from the banned troll? Take another look. It's just sick. your lovetit is essentially an agreement and support of that kind of thing -- which doesn't seem like your style.
Like some earlier posters, I have to add my two cents despite the DD: oldest girl here with two younger brothers! I loved being the big sister, especially to my brother 3 years younger than me, and helping my mom. My middle brother and I were best friends as kids (15 months apart). We all kind of stood up for each other at different points since all 3 of us were close in age. I'm so glad I have the family I do. Now that I'm starting my own family, I'm just excited to meet this LO and any we might have in the future and have zero preferences as to boy/girl or order.
Let me just say just because I DO HAVE an older brother that he did absolutely diddly shit to "protect me". Just because I'm a female doesn't mean I'm a dainty little flower that needs protecting. I too, as many other posts have said, am sick of reading about gender disappointment...I can understand a brief moment (I suppose) of disappointment if you really believe you're having one gender and then it turns out you're not. However to go to an online forum full of women who have had troubles with pregnancy and miscarriages ARG! I just can't feel anything but pissed off. You have a healthy child! Congrats on that.
Btw OP, I am the oldest of 3 and I did a pretty good job of taking care of my younger brother and sister. They are both my best friends now and I wouldn't have had it any other way. Girls rule!
Another firstborn girl checking in. I also have two girls of my own with another on the way. Girls are awesome and being the firstborn girl is the best!
In food related matters, I just scarfed down a Chickfila wrap that was awesome. And in even more exciting news, I just picked up my iPhone 6! Yay!
Ooh, let me know how you like it! The iPhone 6 looks kinda large for me but I'm still curious!
I have it and love it! I had the 5s and it similar to it, but it's nice to have the bigger screen, better camera and thinner body!

@swoon13: I had also thought the iPhone was a beast, but, honestly, I got used to it within a week. (I had the 4s before this, which is pretty small). If nothing else, the battery life has made it totally worth it. I don't even notice the size.
as for chickfila
{I am also the first born, and am fucking awesome}

Enjoy @SharkFarts
I moved up from the 4s, so it's a HUGE change.
Love LOVE my iPhone 6! Upgraded from the 5C which I absolutely hated, I have no complaints about the 6. Although a bunch of the guys at work upgraded to the 6+ and wish that they would've just went with the 6 because the 6+ is too big!
