Alright, so I've been a lurker for quite a while now but I am breaking my silence because I just need some thoughts on this. I found crib bedding that I really like and while I have read about the dangers of crib bumpers, I've thought of getting one purely for decorative purposes because it completes the bedding set I want and just looks so pretty.
The problem is that my conscience is giving me a hard time about spending so much money on something purely decorative that I'll have to remove once my baby girl moves to her crib. Any thoughts on whether it's worth the money? or would my dollars be better spent on a decorative quilt that could actually be functional later?
Re: Crib bumpers for decorative purposes. Worth the $$?
IMO, it's not worth the money. The set was/is really cute without bumpers.
If that's what you want to do so be it. But, to me that is the biggest waste of money. There are so many other things that you may have to purchase or save the money for a rainy day. Also, bumpers are not the most compact things to store away.
I wouldn't waste the money on bumpers. So many better things to spend that money on.

Are you going to be giving public tours of your nursery?
Secondly, there are some beautiful quilts/blankets that can be draped or "thrown" beautifully over the edge to give you that "complete" bedding look. A little monogrammed/decorative pillow sitting in the corner can also be a great way to fill the space while you wait for baby and both can be used once your LO transitions into a toddler bed! I'm actually seeing more of this in the baby design world and Pinterest as people continue to opt out of dangerous pads.
The bottom option used a bumper/rail cover but it would only be in contact with the baby when they are standing... I have less of an issue with this so long as it is secure. Cute sheets/skirt and a quilt and pillow would be my choice.

I really appreciate the condescension. next time, I'll come in expecting it. there's really no need to be so rude.
Qfp if not already done.
ETA: Lots of women gave you some great advice. They weren't being judge-y, just snarky. It's kind of how we roll.
thanks. that's good to know for future reference.

@HailsMom I like the idea of using them to make a reading corner.
I got my girls quilt personalized and will keep it for them as a keepsake.
I also made sure I went with a crib set that was not babyish or themed, so they will be using it once I convert the crib to a toddler bed. I don't feel like my purchase was a waste. To each their own!
Please excuse the 2.5 year old on the dresser,

Please excuse the 2.5 year old on the dresser, she decided she wanted to change herself that day. I heard a weird noise and checked the camera to see what was going on, this is what I found. (Another reason I am pro video monitors)
