Postpartum problems

Is anyone still having physical problems from pregnancy or labor?
I am still having pain when we DTD. My doctor recommended a perineoplasty to break up scar tissue that I have from labor. She said there is a high success rate with this procedure so I am having it next week. Anyone else had this?
Also I guess my hemmeroid is here to stay. I never knew those things were basically permanent.
What issues are you ladies still having?

Re: Postpartum problems

  • I was just thinking we needed a thread like this. I know this sounds gross but I can't go a few minutes without a thick panty liner for fluid leakage from both pee and discharge. Also I take acidophilus and still I always feel smelly down there no matter how clean I am! It's so frustrating feeling like you've lost control over simple bodily functions!

  • Does anyone ever feel like when they sit on the toilet for any bathroom reason that everything is weighing down on your V? I feel a lot of pressure down there, sort of like when baby dropped, but this feels more like my insides are about to fall out.
  • hair loss. I might be going bald.
  • I already had wide hips but they got E-V-E-N---- W-I-D-E-R I didn't think that would be a problem since I didn't push a baby out.  I had to have a C-section due to failure to dilate.  Also, the hairloss is un-freaking-believable.  I used to only be able to wrap a ponytail holder around my hair 2x and it was tight.  Now I do 3 sometimes 4!!!!

@MrsRahl‌ I have the same problem. I have to wear a panty liner all the time and I always feel gross and wet. It is so frustrating!

  • Since my c section I definitely have a shelf bump thing. I lost some of my weight pp but put it on again by eating crap. My feet are huge and still can't fit into my regular shoes. I'm in the horrible hair loss group too. I also feel like my boobs are more saggy because of BF. Oh and the stretch marks have not faded and can suck it!

  • I second the post c section stomach pooch. I have lost all the weight but my body still feels so soft and flabby.

My feet HURT. I can't walk around barefoot at all. My heels feel like I am walking straight on the bone.

My boobs feel super stretched out, espeically when they are empty. It is so weird. Will they ever feel norma again?

  • My back is worse now than it was pregnant. My chiropractor loves my money ;)

I also am pretty sure that I am going bald and despite losing weight at first need to get back on the "bandwagon" and start eating better :(

  • Major hair loss. Major hemorrhoids. As you can imagine, I'm feeling super sexy.
  • Oh and also permanently erect nipples :|
  • Hair loss is unbelievable ! Also my back and my knees feel so stiff all the time. Saggy boobs and butt. Acne. Also I had 2nd degree tearing and the scar is healed but feels weird, hard and just like a fake object. Ugh.
  • Hair loss for sure! Also, still pain when did... I just went in to get it checked out (since I am over 5 months pp now) and my obgyn said that with my stitches from my tear, a little bit of my skin down there is stretched really thin causing pain (yay fun) so she gave me estrogen cream (which Dr. Google says not to use while breastfeeding)... I have a call in to her nurse to ask about it.  I was kind of pissy when I left the appt. because she rushed me through so fast and didn't even ask about the baby... I mean come on!  I just spent the last year dragging my pregnant butt to appointments, you think she would ask...

they were going to prescribe me the estrogen cream too but i was BFing at the time. The doctor says now that I am far enough out and it hasn't gotten better so the cream won't do me any good.

@lest12 i asked about having surgery on them but the doctor said she doesn't usually recommend it because recovery is painful and people don't always have good results.

  • I have unattractive saggy BF boobs...nothing like they used to be and I think they even have stretchmarks. I still have a stingy feeling when DTD. A little bit of linea negra but thats about it.Actually, now that I think about it, my malasma has maybe gone away! Or maybe i've just gotten used to it. I barely look in the mirror anymore I will have to check later.

  • Foot and pelvic pain. I had really hoped it would all go away after I delivered but no such luck.
  • @whoberry - Good to know. That sucks. I was going to ask my doctor at an appt next week.

I didn't even mention the squishy midsection. I figured that was assumed! LOL

My face skin did a weird thing where around my eyes the skin was very light and everywhere else had a darker tinge. It looked just like a facemask or a raccoon. Attractive!!
  • And I was hoping that my feet will shrink after a while but no. I didn't really care in the summer - flip flops everyday- but now it's not cool
  • Still have that hemi, massive hair loss, extra padding on my hips still, and sometimes after I pee and stand up to pull up my pants a little extra pee I didn't know was still in there comes out. My boobs are still enormous, but I am still bfing so maybe that'll change when I quit.

It may be your bladder. My mom is having surgery this month to basically put it back where it should be because it's looser and moving down. Her friend had the surgery too so apparently it's really a thing from having kids.
Wow, I can't imagine that to be a fun procedure:( I'll have to have it checked!!

This siggy of Ian is PERFECT.  Please don't change...I love looking at it! :)

  • @whoberry Me too, all around.  Please report back after your procedure.  DH is understanding, but DTD hurts so badly that I've lost all motivation to even try to see if it'll someday hurt less with "practice"

  • I'm with @FAWKES81....please DO NOT resize Ian @jenlynne0624!

  • I had horrible sciatic nerve pain while pregnant. And it still hasnt gone away. It gets irritated if I sit Indian style for a while breastfeeding or drive for a while. It hurts so bad deep in my hip bone & down my leg that it wakes me up constantly during the night. Scheduled to have an MRI but not sure what can actually be done to fix it. I will not live on pain meds & I hear surgery doesn't actually fix it. My aunt said she has it also & "U just learn to live with it & soon u don't notice the pain"....Ughhhh she's got to be kidding me!?!!??

Also it's been so long not having sex due to endometriosis then surgery then pregnancy then c section surgery that I swear I feel I'm losing my virginity every time we do have sex. But having 2 kids we can't ever do it enough to....how should I say?....break my vaginia in lol!

From being at home and barefoot all summer my arches collapsed (bilaterally)! Basically, I have a form of plantar fasciitis. Super painful in the AM or MOTN.
  • My knees and hands hurt so bad. I have no core strength and my stomach is disgusting. My feet are still huge, I just want to wear my shoes again!

  • Giant saggy boobs, 'shelf butt' that wasn't there before, started getting fat on my arms that wasn't their before, belly pooch, darker stretch marks then when I was pregnant, permanently sore hip to the point where I walk with a limp. My hips are wider as well.

@bridie926 I had this after delivering DS.  It would be worst when I was on my period (to the point where it wasn't just when I was on the toilet, but standing, walking, etc.  Really, I was only comfortable when I was sitting on something hard while I was on AF.

Turned out I had a lot of damage to my perineal floor (I had a 3rd and a 2nd degree tear with DS) and it didn't heal quite right.  The side with the smaller tear healed a lot stronger than the side with the larger tear.  During my period, the hormones caused the ligaments to loosen and I felt the pressure you are describing.

I found all this out and was able to fix it when my MW referred me to pelvic floor physical therapy.  My physical therapist evaluated my pelvic floor strength and the degree of scar tissue from my tears.  Basically, the exercises were just kegels, but she helped me identify how I should properly do them for the best healing and how often to do them.  I was skeptical about PT working, but it really did a great job.  It was much better within a month and almost completely gone 2 months later.  I'd highly recommend it if you find the problem persists.

  • @DagnyDoo‌ I had my procedure today and the scarring was more extensive than they expected. Doctor also said I had torn both of the muscles in my perineum and they did not heal back together so she repaired one of them. I got the impression they didn't do a good job stitching me up after labor. I should be healed in 6 weeks so we will see if surgery helped!

@catsinawindow‌ That sounds pretty much like me. Worst when I'm on my period too. I've got an appointment this month to see my OBGYN. Last they checked I healed well. Hopefully it just means I will need to work it out too! Crazy the things having a baby does to you lol.
  • Still with the B.O. Not my favorite thing ever.

Also a different odor down south, wasn't expecting that and glad a few others had mentioned this.

Stomach is a blobby mess, and man oh man, the back pain! I am going to the chiropractor and praying they can fix me...
