Aaaagh!
So I stopped taking the progesterone Friday morning after beta of 158 confirmed cp, and miscarried on Saturday. I was actually able to see the sac and everything, which was not what I was expecting and was rather upsetting, but did put my fears of an ectopic to rest.
I had bloodwork and an ultrasound today. The tech said that she expected my HCG to have dropped significantly, because there was (obviously) nothing there, and the lining had thinned from 13 to 7. So, great, I was on schedule to start BCPs for IVF in December. I just got the call--my HCG has dropped to...150. How? Why? Where is it still coming from? They say as long as it's negative by ~November 15, I can still cycle. It better be!
So annoyed right now (which actually makes a nice change from being sad, so maybe I shouldn't complain...) Has anyone here experienced anything similar?

Ugh, I'm sorry. I had a MMC and I had pretty high betas (86k) until the D&C (which is probably why I didn't know and continued having symptoms - the betas may have continues rising slowly for a while and/or were very slow to come down). Maybe it is just the hormones having to reverse themselves. They are headed in the right direction and it only took me 30 days to drop 86000 to <5 (so 150 shouldn't take that long - unless there is retained tissue).

The waiting sucks and I am sorry you are going through it. It took a bit of time for mine to drop and they never really got that high, definitely not as high as meridithcarole. I do remember that it seemed to take longer to drop the lower the numbers got. With my first MC I had to get blood work every other day for over a week and sometimes the number had only dropped 10.
It was very frustrating and I can understand. It's is good they are going in the right direction though. Hang in there! *hug*
I am not sure how to say this without getting a "solicitation" warning so I guess I just say that I am not longer active on THIS site.
It is pretty variable how fast HCG drops. Mine were about 18,000 and 3 weeks after my D&C I had a squinter on an HPT. FX that it drops fast so you can start your cycle. I'm sorry you are going through this.

Mine were at 34,000 when they did the first beta and 33,000 about 36 hrs later. They were not decreasing very quickly, but still decreasing. They went faster after the D&C. You may just have a small bit of tissue remaining and hopefully you will get to 0 fairly quickly once it passes. When we tried to do it with the pill, I passed several clots and tissue, but not everything. Sorry again.
First things first, I'm so sorry you had to see what you saw, that's not easy to see in any situation. As for the HCG levels, like others have said, sometimes it takes a bit to kick start. When I miscarried, we didn't do bloodwork, but it took a full week after the bleeding stopped (I bled for a couple more days after the actual miscarriage) for my levels to sufficiently drop below what a hpt could detect. With it being only Monday, and only two days after, I'd be wiling to bet you'll see your levels continue to drop here on out, and I'm very hopeful that you'll be good to go for Dec
Aww so sorry. Sorry I don't have any suggestions or advise. When I suffered my mm/c we was nttc so I bever had my betas checked. My sac never emerged, I had to have a d&c. Hoping ur levels drop so u can move forward with the ivf
So sorry @Davie813. I'm pretty sure if you passed a sac it isn't considered a cp anymore. A cp is only if there is no visible signs of pregnancy. My cp happened two days after a squinter HPT. I never tracked betas for that loss because by the time I saw the dr the next week everything was over. I will say for my 7 week loss I had a sac that I passed but the sac only measured 5w4d. My betas weren't checked until the loss had started and they were 400. Then two days later they were 200 ish. Can't remember exactly. The next two weeks I had one beta a week and they lowered much slower. About three weeks after loss started I was about 15 or so and they stopped testing. They did to tv sono to make sure there was no retained tissue. I hope your numbers drop quick so you can stay on track for IVF. Please take care of yourself and if you need us to vent we are here.
