Hi all. My husband and I like to follow the traditional gifts for anniversaries (Year 1 is paper, etc.). This year will be year 3 - leather. He told me he wants to get me a leather/designer diaper bag. I have no idea where to begin my search. I don't want to crush him by saying I'd prefer something practical; I'm assuming I can find a practical leather one. Any info?
Additionally, I know nothing about this topic. How much room does one need? What is the realistic expectation of things to carry in it on a daily basis??
I just got a new Kate Spade diaper bag. It's not leather, but I really like it and it's spacious enough for me to tote around the junk of two kids. Not sure how much DH is wanting to pay for said diaper bag, but a genuine leather bag, the size of a diaper bag can be fairly costly. If he's really willing to splurge big time, Louis Vuitton has a really beautiful leather diaper bag....

Which kate spade bag did you get? I have been promised one by my DH if I agree not to find out the sex. I really like the black and white stripe one.
This little cutie just arrived in the mail last weekend. I really love the size and style of it. I know a lot of women feel like what their diaper bag looks like isn't as important as practicality, however, if you're lugging that thing around with you everywhere, it should be just as cute as it is practical.

I love my Kate spade diaper bag although it is not my every day bag. I got it during my first pregnancy on cyber Monday so I got quite a bit of money off.
I haven't been on April much, I'm 2u2, so I'm still in my first bmb a lot. I promise I don't have stock in PB, wish I did though for all I spend there. I have a PB diaper bag and love it. It has a leather bottom.
I mention this because my diaper bag is heavy with all the stuff I haul around daily, if it was all leather it would be seriously heavy. Are you sure you want a leather bag just to start? Maybe you can redirect your DH towards a pair of nice leather boots? And get a lighter material diaper bag. Just an idea from a btdt mom.
I didn't take the time to read through all the the comments so someone may have already mentioned this, but look up "fawn designs" on Instagram. I am planning on getting one of their leather diaper bags I LOOOVE the way they look and can convert into back pack style. They are super trendy yet practical.
@RHoPA1109 my friend has a coach baby bag and loves it.
Do you know which one? The ones I'm seeing on their website are leather and don't look super practical to me. There are some nylon ones on Amazon that look promising.
Ladies that are interested in Kate spade diaper bags, get on their mailing list! They offer secret sales every few months, I got my bag, originally 398, for 106, and did the same when my sisters baby shower rolled around!
I really like the petunia pickle bottom ones but kinda expensive so probably going to look for an alternative. Can't convince myself that $185 is worth it.

They go on sale on Zulilly about every 3 months. Last pg I got mine for just over $100 with shipping.
I have my eye (and heart set) on this kate spade holland bag. Unfortunately it is $348. I did see it on Amazon for $250, but feel I could do better then that. Hoping I will get lucky and catch a good Black Friday deal!
@NaughtyNiner so what you're saying is.... Totally worth $185?
Maybe not worth $185, but if you can find one on sale it is worth paying a little more than a $20 diaper bag. I don't like paying full price for any baby item since you can almost always find a coupon or sale somewhere. I got mine for $65 through Costco's website a few years ago, so I was okay to pay that since they hold up so well and it was like an investment for me since I was planning to have more kids at the time. If I was only going to have one kid, I would have bought a cheaper one though just to last the one baby.
@NaughtyNiner thanks! I'm keeping a lookout. I really like the compartments and it's biggish and doesn't look like a diaper bag. And it seems to have good reviews and what not. I do plan on having more than one kid. And I like that it turns into a backpack. Which husband seems pretty intent on.

Yes! I was going to say the backpack is awesome, because once you get two kids, you have no hands to carry things and the backpack is a life saver. A lot of people where I am sell them on my city FB yard sale page for pretty cheap in good condition too, so check there.
Check out betterlifebags.com. You can pick your own colors/fabrics/leather. The Emily bag is the traditional diaper bag. Super cute stuff plus it's a company that employs women who have a hard run of life and gives them a second chance by teaching them how to sew

This is what mine looks like, it's super easy to wipe down and not over the top.
