Is this a boy or a girl? KIDDING!
I go in for an ultrasound on Friday, at 15 weeks and some days, to check for a possible ovarian cyst (joy). I've been having some dull to holyshitouch cramping, and I have a history of cysts, one of which caused a unilateral oopherectomy to remove, so the doctors like to keep an eye on my only ovary to avoid that again. So, that sucks.
But, would it be totally uncool to ask the ultrasound tech, after she checks for a possible cyst, to take a gander at the baby's sex? I have my anatomy scan scheduled, and in all honesty I *could* exhibit patience and wait the 5 weeks. But I wouldn't be sad to know sooner, either.
So, acceptable to ask? Sorry if this is annoying, don't kill me. Thanks!
Re: Semi-random ultrasound question
They may ask if you want to know if they can tell what it is. I had an ultrasound done in the ER at 15 weeks, I didn't ask about the sex but the tech said "I don't know if you wanted to know but I can't tell if its a boy or a girl yet". I already knew it's boy thanks to the Harmony testing. I don't see the harm in telling you if they know.
I hope you can find out!
Side note: How do couples have one person know and the other not? I feel like I would slip and say "he" or "she" or pick out something for the baby and give away the secret. I've heard of other people doing this and I just don't know how no one gives it away by accident!

Bahahaha! I can just picture that "aha!" moment where he realizes his name is just perfect.
Our first son is Jackson (Jack), and my husband is Jake. His only input was that we should spell it Jakson, because it would look like Jake... -_- if looks could kill, he'd be dead.
