Mini Baby Moon...

So my 'step' MIL booked a B&B for me and DH this weekend up in the mountains. We live in MA and we'll be heading north about 2.5 hrs into NH. I'll be 34 weeks and when she told me she wanted to book us a weekend getaway I kept insisting not to--then woke up one morning with a confirmation email. It also happens to be my birthday this weekend. She said she wanted to do it cause 'things get crazy once baby comes' etc. Wellll.. do I sound like an ungrateful brat for saying part of me really does NOT want to go?!

I'm just so uncomfortable and sore and have always had a super hard time sleeping out, never mind being this pregnant. And it's the mountains--there isn't much for me to do there! I'm certainly not going hiking, can't enjoy any bars/nightlife..there's some outlets but even that sounds exhausting. I work 12 hour shifts on my feet, I like relaxing on my weekend off, not being go-go-go!

The B&B does have a heated pool and Jacuzzi (gotta run that by my OB Fri) but other than that...

Anyone have any tips or ideas on how to enjoy and make the best of this weekend?
Anyone from this area and have any ideas on activities in N.Conway NH??

Let's hear it ladies!

  • Ditto @RayRay007‌ and Jacuzzi is a no no while pregnant. Heated pool will be fine.

  • Guess I should've mentioned that MH is a go-go'er.. he can't sit still. So just hanging out and relaxing at the B&B won't really be an option...

Dude nothing says you have to be go go go or go hiking or shopping or anything. Relax. Sleep in, sit on the porch with a cup of coffee and a good book, enjoy the pool, have a nice dinner out.
This.  I'd just try to relax and enjoy the weekend away.  Eat good food, spend some time with your H, read a book, check and see if there is a spa that offers prenatal massages.  Ask the hotel for extra pillows if you need them.

Can't he go do the go getter stuff by himself while you relax?
Right, you don't have to be together the entire time.  Go get a pedicure or a massage or whatever while he does what he wants to do.

I know you didn't plan on going and I get that, but if this is your first baby and you aren't having to think about entertaining another kid on this trip, embrace that and just do whatever the hell you want.  We took a family trip to the mountains a few weeks ago and I would've loved some alone time to just relax.

Love North Conway - not sure how many people will chime in about the location - I haven't seen anyone pipe in as being from NH or VT, and only a couple of us from ME.   We usually just do outlets (other activities are as you mentioned more outdoorsy, not appropriate for this time of year/being uber pregnant (zip lining, hiking, biking, etc).

I'd go and enjoy a weekend away.  At this point I'm doing anything to pass the time until my EDD faster and a weekend away would be something to look forward to throughout the week and enjoy while you're there!
I love it up there as well.. in the summer or full blown winter and NOT pregnant! There is lots to do and it's beautiful. But being pregnant really limits what I can do up there. I've been asking H to have her cancel it but he really wants to go. It's too late to cancel now anyways or she would lose her money so I'm just looking for ideas on how make the best of it.

I second all this. We go all the time. I actually was just there a few weeks ago. I went with my mom and sister who were planning on shopping at the outlets am day. I would go to a few, go back and relax in the hotel for a bit, and then meet them at another store after a while. I hope you can enjoy and relax!
  • It sounds like you don't want to go, so just don't go. Say thank you, write a heartfelt note and move on.

riansmommie , it's your birthday and you're pregnant, so your husband should be volunteering, let alone willing, to do whatever you want.

  • I'd go in a heartbeat. Who knows you might be more relaxed there than you are at home. Go shopping, eat dinner and just relax. Can't go wrong. Enjoy.

Yes! Just what @Heidig14 (yay Mainers) said!  Do some outlets, go back and relax, do a few more.

And here's how to guarantee that as a pregnant woman you enjoyed North Conway.... listen up @stefdolly ...
White Mountain Cupcakery... go there.  Eat all the cupcakes.  They are fantastic and worth the trip by themselves (without all of the tax-free awesome outlet shopping)

Oh YOU are just amazing!! I will def be checking them out! The website is making me drool!! See, I knew there had to be some semi local ladies with recommendations!  :x
  • Bring a good book, find a nice comfy spot, tell your DH that you will see him at dinner. Relax.
  • I love North Conway. There are some really nice restaurants there located inside inns. There is still some foliage so it will be a pretty drive up. Evenings are chilly and cozy...you can drink apple cider, have great food, book a massage and relax. Your step MIL is brilliant!
  • I love North Conway!  We are going for Thanksgiving like we do every year.  We rent a house/condo so I am planning on watching movies, reading books, and going to the outlets for Black Friday shopping when we are up there (well, when I'm not chasing after DD.)  Downtown is a great place to walk around, and I believe you could take a train ride from there if you want (MH and DD did one last year.)

  • I live in NH (seacoast) and I absolutely love it up in North Conway!!! Its so relaxing!!!! Enjoy the peace and quiet with your hubs ;-)
  • I wish someone would schedule a trip and pay for it for me! Enjoy it! Relax and take it easy!
  • You ladies have motivated me! I talked to DH last night and have changed my attitude. It will be nice for the 2 of us to get away for a couple days. Work totally exhausts me these days and we are always non stop on the weekends but he agrees we need a relaxing weekend so that makes me feel better!  :x
