How do so many people feed their baby while he/she is swaddled?! I'm reading this on the bedtime routine thread and that's crazy to me. DD can barely stand being swaddled so I couldn't imagine feeding her while she's awake and having her swaddled. I think she'd go nuts!

I was wondering about that too. DS doesn't mind being swaddled most of the time, but won't eat that way.
Agreed. DS likes being swaddled, but an article I read (can't find it now) said that infants shouldn't be swaddled while feeding because it confuses them not to use their hands.

We left the baby with MIL and went to the Outback and Sam's Club. I made full eye contact with the nurse that told me I was starving my baby and told my doctor I was unfit to parent. I'm sure she thinks I left my baby in a garbage can somewhere since we didn't have her with us. Fuck that bitch. She looked scared now that I was up and out of fucking bed.

Fucking run, bitch. I can't catch you yet, but if I do, there's nothing wrong with my arms. In other words, I will cut you. Until you bleed. To death.

I also never thought I'd leave my 3 week old with someone to go to dinner. I needed it.

That nurse is terrible. Did you file an official complaint?

We left S with my mother to go to dinner, and run errands a few times. Your LO was well cared for while you took a breather; nothing wrong with that!!!
I wanted to. But my husband's aunt works there with her. It would be really awkward. And her reason for saying I was unfit was technically true if taken out of context. I said something to the effect of "Oh just call CPS, then since I'm starving my baby." Obviously I did not want that but she took it out of context. Her saying I was starving my baby was what started it though. My husband went immediately to the nursery and told them and they agreed with us so she may have already gotten told for that.

I read something recently that said the same. That they would be more frustrated to not have their hands and they won't really hurt themselves. Or something.

Aubrey stays swaddled at night she she eats.. she doesnt even know she HAS hands let alone how to use them.. ;) we do kind of a modified swaddled though- her arms are by her face when I wrap her up.. she likes to hold on to the top of the blanket when shes swaddled :)
  • What's with the kid wildly shaking his head with an open mouth while trying to latch onto a bottle or pacifier?  Does he not know that a straight shot is easier?  (andplusalso, it's cute as hell)

A does this. She also kind of goes "ahhhhhhhhhh" while she does it.

  • By the time I ate, drank, and used the bathroom DD has cried herself basically to sleep? All while being held and rocked by her dad...

RnP has been set up. I wish it was more plush, but I guess it will do. Hopefully she will sleep in it.
  • Also, is anyone else bored?  I love my baby, but I find myself desperate to get out of the house and do things ... but there's only so much going to Starbucks, Babies R Us, and Target I can do.  If the weather's good, I can take him for walks in the park or the neighborhood.  What kinds of things are you guys doing to keep yourselves sane and to get a break from the routine of eat, sleep, poop?

I live in a small town so there's not a lot to do anyway. that's why i get so lonely when DH leaves because i end up spending too much time in front of the TV. It's a little depressing..

    Bump.
We spend an ungodly amount of time at target.. its really kind if embarrassing.. for me its easier cause I have older kids- so we're at pre school functions, we went to an indoor playground today.. we go for walks, go hang out with my parents.. the big kids have choir practice on Wednesdays.. we go to the library.. umm not sure what else.. way too much target though ;)

Us too. I'm like 35 min from a Target, not that I have a shit ton of money to spend anyway. Window shopping is depressing. I want ALL the things at Target.

  • Today has been a really rough day filled with tears. Baby girl has wanted to feed every 30 min to an hour. I have been trying to ween off nipple shields the last few days. Haven't been using them. LO only latches correctly once or twice a day. Needless to say bf has been extremely painful. To top that off I think I had a clogged duct most the day until I painfully massaged it out for a long time. I was in tears and texted DH. I was ready to quit breast feeding as I dread it because of the pain. I decided to return to nipple shields, Our pedi doesn't have a problem with me continuing to use them as LO is gaining weight well. Gonna continue to try but this is really hard. Also I have been cooped up in the house and it's getting really hard. Can't wait for LO to be old enough to go anywhere besides around the block.
Sorry for the length just really had to vent.
  • Do everyone else's babies sleep with their hands like this all the time?  DD1 did this a couple times, but DD2 sleeps like this all the time.  I think it's just the cutest thing.

My dd does this too. It's so cute.

Mine does this to my boob too then gets frustrated.
  • So I'm super bummed. It looks like there will be several runoff so the fucking political ads will not end tonight :(( :-??

Does anyone else's baby get frustrated with the boob during cluster feedings? It's almost like the boob gets too soft after awhile and she can't quite grab the nipple... But she's trying to latch out of the side of her mouth so that's not helping. I don't get it, but it causes cluster feedings to cause lots of fussy baby cries

Almost daily. I switch sides and cuddle her a bit inbetween to calm her down.

    Married 10/06

Baby Girl "C" arrived on 10/07/14 (39 weeks, 6 days)
