This is a little different than the Old Wives' Tale thread - None of these are things I had ever heard of before, but they are things people on my Facebook post about 11/2 being my due date have said/suggested. What odd ball/random things have people told you to do to get labor started?
Mine:
DH's Aunt - "go bowling, I was 25 days late with [my daughter] and went bowling, water broke , was in hospital 15 mins when she was born...... it does work!!
DH's Cousin's wife - "eat water cress salad with balsamic dressing and blue cheese. He will arrive in 24hrs. :-) "
Friend - "Croquet worked for [her sister in law]
N14 January Siggy Challenge - What Sucks About Work
Re: Overdue Moms - What weird things have people told you to try to make the baby come?
No one has really told me anything ....
People say off roading.....I don't really have the best off roading opportunities.....but I quit slowing down for speed bumps and potholes! ha ha ha ha!!!!
Nov. '14 January Siggy : Work Sucks!
Me 32-DH 38
Married July 14, 2007 ----- TTC # 1 October 1, 2013
BFP March 7, 2014 ----- EDD November 17, 2014 ---- Baby boy born November 16, 2014
-I've heard the 'light' one and a varieant, to put a radio or something playing music between your legs. So the baby will move towards it?
-drive on a bumpy road. Well my car's got shocks so....
-castor oil. Didnt' do a thing (last pregnancy) didn't even upset my iron stomach.
-Sex. sigh...never worked and it was so uncomfortable (sorry but you know how it is at 9 mo)
-certain foods and every culture has them it seems
So in my experience, none of the old wives tales ever worked and the only thing that made labor start was time (and in the 42 week pregnancy, pitocin). And I have no idea why this pregnancy was only 39 weeks, I didn't do anything different. Sorry overdue mamas, I know how it is!
Castor oil:
they say it will disturb the stomach, you might need to rush a few times to the washroom. And increased gastric motility is supposed to be linked with increased freq and intensity of contractions too.
Someone said have lots of ginger boiled in milk.. And sip the ginger tea while having walks n warm showers
Don't know how safe these are though.
This thread is going to throw me into labor.
