I say no. DH says yes. What does the BN board say?
Also, is it frowned upon here to ask about names if you are not currently pregnant or planning to get pregnant any time soon? I didn't see anything about that in the blog Cause of so, I'll stop.
Currently not PG and still a few months before TTC again, just love names.
As far as Bennett I'm sorry but I hate it. It's so surnamey to me and it's trendy.
Oh don't apologize, I hate it too. DH is the one that likes it and I wanted to know if I was wrong in thinking it's really a surname.
My stepdad and brother have a VERY unique name (I think it is British, but I have literally never heard of another person with the name) that sounds like a surname. They spend their lives having people ask their name and then following it up with, "No, I meant your first name." I would never do that to a kid!
I am certain this was originally only a last name. But I taught one last year in 9th grade. Actually, it was this particular kid's mn, but he always went by Bennett, not by his fn.
I wouldn't side eye a little boy named Bennett, especially if it was clear that this was his first name from hearing his last name. I think the longer the last name, the better this would work. I'm thinking of a long Polish last name that ends in -ski, or a long Italian one.
Lately Bennett as a first name has been growing on me and is moving up the short list. All the naming sites list it as a variation on Benedict, which is good enough for me.
(In case it's not blatantly obvious, I support its use for a BOY. On a girl, errrrrrrrgh.)
I don't mind LNs as FNs if they have some meaning. Generally I don't care for random surnames as FNs, but Bennett is better than a lot of other trendy surname-y FNs.
