Comfort nursing at 11 days old???

Baby is refusing to sleep in bassinet.  Wants to feed, feeds for just a few mins, passes out, I put him in bassinet and he keeps waking up and wanting to repeat.  Bought a pacifier, but it doesn't stay in his mouth.  He also sleeps better laying on us, if we are watching a movie or something.  Never experienced this with other kids, they were all formula fed, not sure if that has anything to do with it.  Just seems like it is a comfort thing with him.

Re: Comfort nursing at 11 days old???

  • I agree with PP that this sounds very normal. When my daughter was a newborn she wanted to sleep snuggled close to me, and it took me two weeks of sleep deprivation before I finally gave in and after that life was so much easier. Once she was a month old she started sleeping in a cosleeper next to us which worked well. It could just be that your new baby has a different temperament than your other children and might crave that closeness more. The constant nursing is definitely normal. Sometimes it can seem like all you are doing is feeding them, but you are doing great and that is exactly what they need.
