I'm starting to get anxiety about what to feed P. I have about 3 weeks until she is 6m (holy smokes, how did this happen?!?!) But with her current intolerances, the ped is strongly pushing the 1 food every 5 days. That puts a lot of pressure on what her first food should be! Obviously something relatively hypoallergenic. And not dairy, soy, or nut. But we also want to be as BLW as possible, so not oatmeal or purees or anything like that. Sweet potato? Avocado? Banana?

SAK are you suggesting I ignore the 5 day rule? I think the ped is concerned about her having other allergies we don't know about. And yes, I'll obv remain dairy, soy, nut, and gluten free.

Also, the blood test will be able to give you a better idea of if it's just G.I. related issues, or if you have a serious anaphylactic allergy to worry about. Like the nuts might be. But my guess is the dairy and soy are more just G.I. issues so if she gets some on accident you don't need to freak out as much. Shed just have an upset belly and not die.
The ped said not to do this until after we started trying foods, and see if she has reactions to other foods. I like your advice better. Could you run get an M.D. real quick so you can be our ped? K, thanks.

I think I might have finally made a decision regarding a new carrier.
I'm leaning toward a Tula. I tried one on this weekend with a back carrier and I was able to adjust it down so that the fit was good and comfy (unlike my Ergo).
Does anyone have a good recommendation for a newborn carrier? I didn't like my Ergo with the insert and I want to get something for my sister.
She"s really interested in baby wearing for her second child and I want to help her out by getting her a really good carrier for newborns. I want it to be easy, so that she doesn't get too frustrated with it. So I'm thinking a Moby is out of the question. It's going to be my gift to her, so I don't mind spending a good chunk on it, but I want to stay under $150.
@theultimatesak She hasn't had hives, but she does get like a full-torso red bumpy rash when I mess up. It doesn't last long, but it does happen. I have my fingers crossed big time for just intolerances. The soy definitely does make her forcefully throw up everything she ate. It will shoot across the room, and out her nose, and all kinds of drama.

J and I are currently in a standoff. He won't install the car seats until I pack my hospital bag, and I won't pack my hospital bag because I'm a stubborn asshole. Decisions.
Suddenly my life doesn't seem such a waste,
It all revolves around you.

I was interested in the k'tan but didn't get one because DH and I are such different sizes. What about the Beco Gemini or Soleil? It's super easy and fits newborns without an added insert. Love mine!
@sarenu1 ring slings are great for newborns. Very easy in and out, and they can be used for a long time since they don't stretch there is a higher weight limit.
I have 6 different types of carriers and if I had to pick just one, it would be the ring sling for nb hands down.
Random diaper question: do you all actually stick your fingers in diapers to see if they're wet? I just always assume it's wet and change the dang thing. It's cloth. if I changed a not soaked diaper it's not like throwing away a dry disposable.
Depends on where we are and the effort it would take to change her. I usually just change it, but I have put my finger in there a few times.

Nope. I just change it. I can still pretty much guarantee a wet diaper every time I change anyway so no sense feeling around!

I usually check weight. At home if he's in a pocket and I lift it up and it feels really light, I check the wetness. If it's completely dry I put it back on. This has only happened once.
If it's a prefold I can tell by looking at it when I open the diaper.
If we are out, I don't bother checking. I just change him.
@sarenu1 I LOVED and still love my Beco Gemini! We have a Toddler Tula for when P is bigger and #2 is in the Beco.
I will need to check out the different Beco carriers. I was leaning toward a Soft Structure or Mei Tai. I plan to take my ring sling and Ergo to see if she likes them.

I did at first, when I was just figuring things out. Then once we got into the swing of things I didn't need to for a while. Around the time DS started to eat significant amounts of solids, he also started to be dry longer between wet diapers, so I checked for a while until I figured out his new pattern.
I loved my K'tan with G1, but G2 has been in the tula from the beginning (rolled up blanket at first). I had a Beco Gemini with G1, and I liked it a lot, but it doesn't compare to the Tula in terms of comfort (in my opinion).
@sarenu1 I don't prefer my mei tei with P. She just never seems comfy in it. I do like it for back carries with E though.
@rugbymama How could you even forget that! Haha. Although sometimes on my Fridays that I work, I only pump twice. It's like my special treat to myself.

I stopped pumping on my birthday as a gift to myself. Greatest self-given present ever.
In other (non) news.... there's no baby bat in my cave. I'm annoyed, but I have unreasonable expectations. I just know some of you are probably wondering but haven't asked. But ya know, I had beer last night and have a second big thermos of coffee here, so that's good.
I'm sorry, Stringy. I'm glad the beer and coffee are making you feel a little better, though. Beer is always my reward to myself when AF shows up while TTC.

Yeah, I was driving this morning during mine
