Hi there--I'm a newbie here and have been looking for reviews online for daycare in Reston to no avail. I would really appreciate any recommendations any Reston mommies have!
My first baby, a little boy we have named Will, is due in early May, and I will be returning to work after maternity leave and so will need a place that will take an infant. My husband will be working from home most days so we will probably only need to drop him off for 4-5 hours a day.
It's such a tough process to decide with whom to leave your baby!! I've read various articles about the right questions to ask, etc. and would love to find a place that has a good ratio of personnel to children as well as low turnover rates. I haven't begun the process of visiting daycares yet, as I would like to have a narrowed down list based on recommendations. The Kindercare on Old Reston Ave is very close to my house and I plan to stop in there as one possibility.
Any help would be so appreciated!!
Re: Reston, VA - Looking for recommendations on daycare
Also - ratios at centers are nearly always the state-mandated 4:1. We didn't encounter any centers that were putting out the extra $ for a lower ratio. You can also look up their state inspection results online. We found that super helpful.

I actually haven't visited the Reston daycare centers but my kids attend Winwood in Gainesville, VA, and I know there is a location in Reston, VA. They have a 3:1 ratio in the infants rooms there. Like some pp stated, there usually is a long wait list but I don't know if that's still the case anymore because they have been promoting referral bonuses for the parents (which they did not do previously). Plus in the summer, lots of kids transition to the next room up so there might be some openings in May.
If you have more specific questions about Winwood in general, please let me know. Good luck!!
My DD is at the Kindercare in Reston and we are very happy with her being there. The teachers in her room are great and take such good care of her! For the first couple weeks of her being there, I would pop in to check on her, since it's close enough to work and she was always smiling and happy.
We also checked out the YMCA in Reston but they didn't have an opening until after I was going back to work.
Good luck with your search!
