Baby bath tub?

I know there's a post about things you should/shouldn't have on your baby registry ... but I am at a loss when it comes to choosing a baby bath. I was just going to do it at our sink but I know I'll need one that can eventually transfer to the big tub. Suggestions?

Re: Baby bath tub?

  • I had this one for my first two and just bought it again. The sling is nice for when they are newborns and can't get the cord wet.

  • We have one but it's all a personal preference I have friends who just use the sink, and others that have the sponge for the tub that the baby lays on. It's definitely a bulky item.

  • Third time mom here, baby bath is 190% percent necessary. They are so tiny and squirmy and slippery that bathing them in the sink is much harder than it sounds. I like the above one. I have never used but love the idea of the sink petal one.
  • We had the same one for DS that @sahara6971 posted.  We tossed it after we moved him to the regular tub at 16ish months because the plug had worn out and DH wound up having to glue it in place so it wouldn't leak (so we had to flip it to dump it out, rather than drain it) and I knew we'd just go ahead and spend the $15 on a new one for baby #2.

The sling is really nice for the floppy, slippery newborn stage, and then the angled side is perfect for when they have a bit more control.

I initially had the tub with the sling for #1 mentioned in the initial reply, but got the whale tub mentioned here for #2.  What I found with the sling tub, was that baby could kick and it's bottom could slip off the lip (when you no longer need the tub) and baby would dunk under.  The whale tub seems to be dunk proof :)

  • I'm a FTM so no experience, by my friend's baby LOVED the tummy tub:

She would use it to bath him, but also just to have him hang out when he was crabby.
  • I used a variation of this tub, the sling was the most useful part for me because I could kneel in the big tub with him.

  • That's pretty much a sling @crystalw88. It's just the webbed, stretchy part that you recline baby in. That'll be perfect for bath time and it's cute.

  • I used mine pretty regularly. But as PP said, it's pretty bulky.

  • @crystalw88 -- that may be the winner! With our tiny apartment, we don't have a lot of storage and that one seems like it'll work in both the sink AND tub. Thanks all! :)
  • I had the same one with the sling for DD1 and have another on my registry for these two girls (just one tub though, hopefully they'll never both need baths at the same time). I agree that the sling was definitely helpful when she was smaller.

I jumped into this thread to recommend the same bath lounger. Love it - used it for months w DD. Easy to store, easy to remove the mesh and pop in the wash to clean! Great for newborn and up.
  • We love the Puj.
