January 2015 Moms

Officially counting down!

My c-section has been scheduled and I'm so excited to have a date! Little guy will be coming on December 31, unless he decides to make an appearance sooner. (Which I don't think he will.) Two months to go!!!

Congrats! Just curious, what was your original due date? I am having a RCS, but with DD, I remember my doctor scheduling my c-section during the last weeks of my pregnancy. But I've seen a lot of posts here where they have already been scheduled. I guess I can ask my doctor at my next appt in 2 weeks....

  • @TRexsMum‌ I think every place is different with regards to age cut off and schooling. Around here (SW OH), you have to turn 5 before September 5th to enter kindergarten. (It used to be Sept 30th but they moved the date about 10 years ago).

@Beckyboo71‌ my OB said that they couldn't schedule a c/s (without medical necessity) prior to 39 weeks exactly because of insurance purposes. Not sure of the intricacies involved, but it makes sense to me.

    BFP #1: 4/2/12 -- DD born 12/15/12. BFP #2: 4/1/14 -- CP. BFP #3: 4/28/14 -- EDD 1/10/15

    Jan 15  NOV siggy challenge:

  • I'm in Canada as well. January 1 is my goal for this exact reason. My husband and I are both December babies but I want this one to be a January baby.
  • I work for one of the school boards in Ontario. And I know the one that I work in you can send your child to school at the age of 3 if they will be turning 4 by the end of December of that first school year. But that is totally up to the parents. You can keep them home and send them when they are 4 if you feel that would be best for them.

I see some very young 3 year olds in school. But on the flip side you get some 3 year olds that are completely ready and do great!

My baby is due at the end of January so unless it comes early it will miss that end of the year cut off. I'm fine with that.

I'm sure you mamas will know the best time to send your kiddies to school :)
  • Here, the cutoff is September something (can't remember), so it wouldn't matter what year they are born.  DD turned 7 on 10/24 and is advanced for her class.

12/31 is great, though!  I hope to have mine by then!  I'm a little jealous you get a concrete date.

  • @moonfaerie‌ congratulations on getting a date!!!! That must be super exciting!
  • What provinces are you guys in? I'm in BC and parents have a choice to keep them in the year they were born or hold them back a year. I went to school with a few dec 1988 babies in my 89 birth year. If our baby comes early we will likely hold them back so they are one of the oldest kids in their grade. It seems super common here.
  • Thanks everyone!

@Beckyboo71‌ My actual due date is January 7. C-sections aren't scheduled before 39 weeks without medical necessity here, so the earliest they can do mine is 12/31. My hospital will schedule a c/s once the mom hits 28 weeks, to get them on the books in their 39th week.

@TRexsMum‌  I didn't choose 12/31, my OB and the hospital coordinated it. It doesn't make any difference for school though, as our cut-offs are September 1.
