People like to post when their babies do something precocious, like roll-over at 2 months or crawl at 5 1/2 months. I'd do the same, probably. BUT since nobody ever brags about what their baby ISN'T doing yet, it makes it seem like all these Sept '11 babies are super-achievers. It's what we in academia call a publication bias. I don't know about you guys, but I get a little relieved when I hear about other babies who aren't crawling yet-- I know that all babies develop differently, but it's still good to hear that there are others out there who haven't hit all their milestones early.
So what's your baby NOT doing yet?
Mine has yet to: crawl in a traditional, forwards motion, pull up into standing on her own, grow any teeth, say mama or dada, or get herself into a sitting position without help.
Re: Let's talk about what our babies AREN'T doing yet!
Mine isn't doing any of these either!
ETA: He is pulling himself into a sitting position now. Silly monkey!
Mostly the same as yours: crawl in a traditional, forwards motion, pull up into standing on his own, say mama or dada (we'll get dada in a string of babbles, but definitely not directed to DH) or get himself into a sitting position without help.
Tis the problem with the Internet. Rationally, we all know babies develop at their own pace, but you can't help but worry when it seems like EVERY other baby is doing it. Thanks for reminding me of publication bias. It's very similar to how most people only fill out comment cards when there's a problem.
I know this is a "what your child IS NOT doing yet" post, but you ladies are making me cry, because Maddie is literally doing everything. It's actually really depressing! I just lowered the crib mattress today because she's standing up. She has 4 teeth, she says dada, and says bye-bye and waves..
The only thing she hasn't done is said MAMA. And that is the most important!!! (to me!)

O doesn't say mama or dada yet, she hasn't crawled forward or sprouted any teeth.
AND if this jinxes me while we are in TX, I'm going to be so mad. And so will H! Lol

Oh, or clap and point. She kind of waves but it's more of a stop because she doesn't actually wave her hand lol.
No standing either!

No teeth. No mama. No consistent sttn, although we may be getting there.
I'm proud of all she can do, but do wish she had stayed a baby a little longer before taking off.
"What did my fingers do before they held you? What did my heart do with it's love?"
Bo is not all that crazy about solids. I would be lying if I said I was not worried, especially when some random calls him a peanut and exclaims how tiny he is!
He has not clapped, pointed (consistently. sometimes he does at the light), or when I hide my face he doesn't go to pull the blanket off.
The only one of those that Elli can do is say dada but I think she's just making the sound, not making the correlation. Not only is she not crawling, she doesn't make any forward or backward motion at all other than what she can achieve by rolling around.
I know, it does seem like some of these September babies are overachievers. :-)
ETA: She also has only had puree's... No finger foods or puffs. I really need to get on the ball since she will be 9 months in two weeks. :-/
B doesn't crawl, wave, clap, point, pull to stand, get into a seated position, or eat solids on any bit of consistency. No other consonants besides the m sound either. Oh and she used to roll both ways, but really hasn't rolled any direction in about 2 months now.
Wow seeing that all listed out is no fun.
Do not worry mama!! She will do all of these in her own time! Looks like Bo and B are on a solid strike together!!! maybe they should have a dinner date?

We'er right there with all of you, no crawling, no teeth, no mama or dada (just GAGAGAGAGAGA), no pulling up of any kind. In fact when I try to hold his hands to help him sit or stand he usually pulls them away. Independent like his mama I guess
He's only just now sitting fairly well on his own, I still worry he'll fall over backwards and conk his head.
Maybe we should make this a weekly thread
Thanks everyone, and keep them coming! It's comforting to know that everyone's at different places. It reminds me that it doesn't mean anything. Obviously, our babies are still all geniuses.
I thought of a few more. Munchkin has no pincer grip. As a result, she is hopeless at puffs. Also, we are just baaarely switching her over to size 6-9 (she still wears 3-6 a lot), and she's just a few weeks away from being 9 months old and supposedly being ready for the next size up.
Oh, and I checked my own baby book, and I didn't walk from the middle of the room until I was 15 or 16 months old. And I still got a whole mess of advanced degrees.
No sitting up on his own from laying down
Only pulls up when he can hold onto our hands, doesn't try on anything else
Still hates tummy time
No clapping
No pointing
No waving
No cruising
