She had a gush if blood last night and rushed to hospital. They did do sono right away and baby was doing ok but she is 4cm dilated. They started steroids and magnesium sulfate. No more dilation yet today so she will be In Hospital for a few days and if no change then home on strict bed rest. Any good vibes you can send her way would be appreciated.
Oh and by the way her shower was supposed to be Sunday. That is postponed.
Hope Baby stays put! So sorry and praying it all comes out ok.

Off Mirena Nov 2013, On Nuvaring end of Jan, Back off Sept 2014. Never ending cycle starting end of Sept...
11/14 Provera failed... cycle continues
12/14 High FSH (57 "midcycle") OBGYN had no clue... about anything
01/15 More lab results coming back from RE. U/S showed small (1")cyst on left ovary, thin lining, and couldn't locate right ovary so possibly straight to DE and IVF
Occassionally mess with the chart below to see "what if" and learn (not to make it pretty but because FF stays drunk with me).
It's just so scary because none if us has ever had preterm labor. My BFF is a nurse at the hospital she is in and checked on her. She is doing well, going to have another steroid shot tonight and is still on the mag. It must be doing it's job because she hasn't dilated anymore.
Thank you all so much for keeping her in your thoughts.
Hang in there @hooligans4! The best thing for the baby is those steroid shots! Besides staying in mama for 9 more weeks, of course. At 31 weeks, with two steroid shots and at least another day after the steroids, baby should do okay if it's born now. Your sister is in a hospital with a level III NICU, right? I hope they can stop it and she can go home on bedrest, but if not, I want to reassure you that the vast majority of 31 weekers do well. Sending dilation stopping thoughts your sister's way.
(Sorry, I'm a NP in the NICU and can't help but go into work mode ... I really do hope she cooks that baby for a couple more months).

I am so sorry to hear this. I hope the mag does the trick...it did for me when I went into PTL at 25 weeks with the trio, they tried 2 or 3 other meds and gave me the steroids when they didn't work. They told me the mag was their last option..it made me sicker than a dog but worked.
The trio were born at 31 weeks (due to one of them breaking their water) they did really well...3 1/2 lbs each and the first one came home 26 days later. So either way I have good thoughts that all will be well. HUGS.

I spoke to her this am and they are keeping her there for three weeks. When she gets to 34 weeks they will let her go home on bed rest.
@Heath&Jas she got her second steroid shot last night and they are lowering the mag tonight as long as no more contractions. She is in a great hospital. She actually did her clinical time there and worked on the antipartum floor for a few years, she is an RN.
I love that you wonderful woman have all this first hand knowledge. This all puts me at ease knowing some of you have gone through this same thing. Thanks for keeping me grounded.
No change so far. She has sono this morning and baby is doing well. They don't want to do any more internals because they don't want to irritate anything. So she has to just pay attention to any signs of contractions when she isn't hooked up to the monitors. It's going to be a looong 3 weeks
I was on hospital bed rest for 6 weeks. Bring her in a DVD player or Wii or Playstation...so they can watch movies, we marathoned TV shows season by season. Bring in some "outside" food that she likes...hospital food gets old quick. I had boxes of cereal, the nurses would get me bowls and spoons and milk, other snack type food...of course I was supposed to be gaining as much weight as I could so I had a free pass

@TripMomma she has a few things lined up to do. Redoing her phone book and addressing her Christmas cards. She is laughing because she is doing all the things that she used to tell her patients to do when she worked on that floor. Her husband had been bringing her food but he goes back to work tomorrow so she will have to eat the hospital food. But it's pretty good, they do it more like room service from the cafeteria. I give her a week before she gets stir crazy. She is very focused on growing her baby right now so I hope she can hold that focus for the whole time.
