  • @GrailSeeker14‌ I'm sorry you had to go through the stress of a scare like that! But, I'm glad everything is going well!

Not too much new for me, still waiting for my 16w appointment next week! Symptoms are still here too :(( I thought my MS was going away, but it hasn't. It has also started coming on in the evenings too, so that's no fun. However, I'm starting to get a little bump so I love that!

No scary moments this week, thankfully. A cute moment this week was when I said to my H that I can't wait to meet the baby and be a mom and he said, "you're already a mommy, a very pretty mom" I started crying, lol!

Question for you all: If you did/or are going to have an elective sex ultrasound are you nervous at all that something would be wrong during it and they won't tell you since it's not a medical place? I really want to go have one done, but I was afraid that they might see something and not tell us about it. Do they check the heartbeat too? Sorry if this is a stupid question. I really want to find out before our AS at 20weeks.

QOTW: My OB has been great so far but seems to be treating me pretty normally. I am not handling the long wait between appointments well! I am trying to relax but it's so hard when I was getting weekly appointments from week 5-10. I think after my 16w appointment and (hopefully) elective ultrasound I can really enjoy everything!

  • @GrailSeeker14 I am glad things are ok!

@catlover790 I feel your pain with the MS.  I swear it gets worse and every time I eat anything I am miserable for hours.  We didn't do an elective U/S since we found out that we were having a girl by doing the MaterniT21 test. My guess would be that you'd see baby's heartbeat on the U/S, we saw ours when we had the NT scan done, along with all the other neat things like the blood flow through her heart.

AFM I will be 17 weeks tomorrow.  The kitten & butterfly wall stickers I found came in last week, I was so excited, they were exactly what I had wanted.  Today we are trying to print out this photo of a kitten with a butterfly on its nose.  I found a version of the drawing, but DH is hesitant to buy it since the shipping costs are pretty high.  I seem to only find things for Hayley's room overseas.

We can finally buy paint and move the furniture we have in the nursery out now since the generator is finally hooked up.  I'm still trying to convince DH to move his office downstairs so the spare bedroom, aka the cat's room can be upstairs.

Next appointment is with our OB in 2 weeks, then end of this month we will be doing our A/S.

QOTW: I wouldn't say our OB does anything different for us, though since I am AMA he did suggest seeing the perinatologist for the genetic testing, which I wanted anyway.  The perinatologist we see likes to do additional tracking and scans, so we will see him at 21, 28, 32, and 36 weeks.

We bought a doppler to handle the long waits in between appointments since I started going a bit stir crazy and worried that something might be wrong.

    All Welcome

  • Glad to hear that everyone seems to be doing well overall... hopefully anyone with some lingering MS will be relieved of that soon.  I'm impressed that folks are already working on nurseries.  I'm still trying to debate a lot of that with DH.  He has an opinion on everything :)  I have colors I'd like to work with, but he hasn't really said yes or no on them yet.  We talked about it a few days ago, but I keep forgetting to ask him about it again now that his brain has had time to noodle on it.  His big request was NO PINK!  I said "um, ok, but our son's bedroom is blue, but whatever".  It was my trick.  I really want to do more of a coral color, so for him thinking I'm disappointed that he said no to pink, maybe he'll see that coral is much more appealing :)

AFM, I had my OB appointment today.  HBs were good, 150-160.  I see the perinatologist for my "big scan" on 11/20, and my next OB appointment is 11/25.  For symptoms, I'm struggling with pregnant rhinitis - STILL, which is completely gross.  I'm hoping I don't get another sinus infection from it.  3yo DS is starting to get sick, and when he's sick he just wants me, so I'm going to try and up my OJ intake to help get some extra vitamin C in me to fight off his germs.

Our family is going on a Disney cruise in a few weeks, OB cleared me for it today, so we're really excited.  Expecting twins, I'm fully in maternity clothes now, my belly has totally popped into a lovely "B" bump, that is rounding out more each day.  That said, I've gone ahead and ordered two swim suits online (weird, I live in FL, you'd think Motherhood would have had maternity suits year around).  The first one came yesterday and is totally cute.  A tankini with a very long top that kinda swings out like a skirt and the bottoms come up over the belly so I won't expose too much skin.  I've just ordered a second from JCP online which was cheaper and I'm excited about that one too... kinda fluttery top with layers.  So we'll see how that all works out.

QOTW: I too am AMA and with expecting twins, it is more appointments of course.  However, far less than the RE.  Honestly, I'm glad to be able to act more like a "normal pregnancy" at this point.  All of the RE appointments would freak me out and make me worried.  I love my OB...just get frustrated when I wait so long for the appointment with him...

  • @GrailSeeker14‌ I'm glad your scare wasn't anything serious.

@catlover790‌ and @Alicia_R1‌ I hope your MS goes away soon.

@yarnymommy‌ hopefully you get relief from the rhinitis soon. :/ Glad you found some cute suits. We have a vacation coming up and I haven't even thought of a maternity suit. I guess I better look around quickly!

I finally had another OB appointment yesterday!!! Heart beat was good (156) so I am feeling much much better. I finally feel good about sharing with our family. Ultrasound will be 11/24 and we should get the sex results there. I can't wait! We were team Green last time which was awesome but I am super excited to find out this time. :)
  • What's new with everyone this week? We are getting ready for Halloween at our house, Im bust making 2 costume for a street party on Friday.
Symptoms to report? My MS just will not give me a break, Im 16 weeks 1 day and it's still going strong..Urgh!!! Other than that i feel fine.

Scans? I just came from a 16 week scan, because i had a bleed 2 weeks ago. My OB wanted to give me an additional scan. They discovered i have complete placenta Previa, and our little boy is sitting right on top of the placenta all snuggled in.

Appointments? I had my OB app right after that, she explained how things move forward from here on out. I will be getting ultrasounds every 2 weeks to see if the placenta has moved, then she will make a final call at 24 weeks, in terms of a C-section, and when it will be done. If i bleed again, i have to go back in.
Cute/sweet moment of the week? My DH and I got to see our little boy today, he was putting on a show for us, kicking and waving his arms, it was a priceless moment.

If you have found out or will find out and want to share: are you team PINK, BLUE, or GREEN? We have told people has we have seen them, or when it has popped up. We are not making an officially announcement.

I hope everyone is having a great week, and symptoms are starting to subside. Good luck for everyone's ultrasounds, and appointments.
  • I'm 13w6d today.  I had an NT scan with my MFM last week, followed by a regular appointment with my OB.  It was good to see/hear my babies again - I was getting anxious from the long wait.

I think I'm going to have to break down & buy maternity pants this weekend.  I thought my weight gain last week was a fluke, but apparently not.  Today, I used a hair tie to close one of my roomier pairs of pants.  Sh*t's gettin' real, ladies.  All signs point to the fact that I will be a house before I need to attend Board meetings in November - which means I might need to spend money on more business appropriate maternity clothes.  Poop.  Fortunately, I have a good friend who is a lawyer who offered me her maternity clothes.  Unfortunately, she's petite, and I'm afraid I they may not fit.  Guess I should follow up on that sooner than later.

QOTW:  Since I'm AMA and having twins, I have an appointment with my MFM every 4 weeks, in addition to my OB appointments.  And, since my NT scan showed one placenta close to my cervix (not quite previa), and I had some red spotting this weekend, my OB decided to have me back after 2 weeks, rather than a 4 week wait this time.  I think the extra appointments have made the transition from my RE a little easier for me... but I do still miss the familiarity of my RE's office.  The OB practice I use is on the larger side, and I don't feel like I've built a relationship with any of the staff yet.  If nothing else, I miss the smiling desk staff who were so friendly, and remembered my name every time I saw them at the RE clinic.

  • My answer is going to be a bit all-inclusive, including the QOTW, so I apologize in advance for the length.

Things are going well  this week.  I'm feeling well, but received 2 lovely cold sores yesterday morning, and those are making me feel pretty crappy today.  I had my 16 week apt on Friday, and HB was strong at 154.  Dr. offered Norco to treat my migraines, but said I'd have to go off mid 3rd trimester so the baby would be born with withdrawals!!  WHAT??  Umm, no thanks.

I'm frustrated a bit because when I switched to my OB, I went with a group practice that my RE highly recommended.  And don't get me wrong, I've liked all the doctors so far, but I wish there was a little more consistency with them.  At my appointment last month, the doctor did an u/s, and I got pictures to take home.  She told me my blood work from the RE all looked good, and I wouldn't have to repeat any of the prenatal blood work.  She told us everything looked good for my transition, and to schedule my A/S with their office, which would have been 2 weeks from Friday.  At the appointment this past Friday, being a group, I saw a different doctor. She began by telling us I didn't have all the initial prenatal blood work done, and have to do it again.  Its fine, its just a little blood draw, but why does one tell me one thing, and another something else?  Also, she said that she's still considering me high risk due to the IVF, and therefore I'll have to see a perinatal specialist for my A/S, cancel my appointment in 2 weeks, and wait for them to call me. Knowing I would see my baby again in 2 weeks was really helping me get through.  Also, the first doctor apparently forgot to enter measurements into the system from my last appointment, so they have no idea if my baby was measuring right, other than the doctor telling me so.  Ok, rant over.

T&Ps: This is totally not baby related, but it's been a rough day.  My husband is in law enforcement (and to some degree I am as well).  For any of you who are in California, you may be aware, we've had a rough couple weeks with law enforcement killed in the line of duty here.  This morning, an officer I work with closely was shot.  It's very hard on us emotionally to deal with so much of it.  Please keep law enforcement in your T&P's everyday, that they remain safe while trying to keep us safe.

@yarnymommy‌ Glad everything looks good for your babies' heartbeats today! Have fun on your cruise!

@Alicia_R1‌ Are you doing a cat theme nursery?! If so, I love that idea! I was thinking of doing a cat nursery (if it's a girl) but there isn't much for selection and I know it will be more work to make it look good. GL!

@keifekm‌ Happy your appointment went well and can share the news soon!

@taahira‌ I bet the moment seeing your baby with your H was so special! Happy for you! Sorry about the placenta previa though; I hope everything goes smoothly from now on.

@baby_blessings‌ That sounds like a really nice appointment you had! Glad everything is going well. I'm sorry about the nervous feeling; I haven't had a loss but I too get nervous with the appointments being so far apart. I hope you can start to enjoy everything; I'm trying to force myself to do/buy things because I think I'm going to wake up and the pregnancy will be over before I really enjoyed it. Hugs!

@CaterinaC‌ I hope the MS eases up for you soon! GL Friday!

@AMShark‌ Glad your NT scan went well! I have started wearing maternity clothes on the weekends but I know I'm going to be spending more on clothes than I intended. I teach, and need to look professional for school (we don't even do casual Fridays!) I hope your friend's clothes fit you!

@Seachele98‌ I'm sorry your doctors are making things difficult for you. I hope you get everything straightened out soon. Happy to hear the heartbeat sounded good this week though! :)

  • @Grailseeker14 - Glad the spotting stopped!
@catlover790 - Sorry you're still dealing with MS. :( Your hubby sounds so sweet!
@Alicia_R1 - I think we might need a pic of those kittens and butterflies!! Pretty please??
@yarnymommy - On the PgAL board some women who don't like pink have been calling themselves team lavender for girls. Think your OH could get on board with lavender? ;-)
    @keifekm - Yay for a great appt!
@taahira - Yikes, sorry about the placenta previa! Hopefully it will move out of the way over time. ((hugs))
@babyblessings - How cool to hear a kick! I'll have to listen for that. We're NT scan twins. :)
@CaterinaC - I hope the MS ends soon for you. You've had it rough!
@AMShark - You're going to love the maternity pants. Sooooo comfy. I'm a cheapskate about these things and have found really good deals on Old Navy, including some reasonably professional clothing, but my workplace may be more casual than yours.
@Seachele98 - Sorry about the cold sores. ((hugs)) I've gotten them all my life and hate them. You can ask your docs about the meds for them, as they're pregnancy safe. Women with genital herpes have to take the same meds in preparation for vaginal birth. I'm sorry you're dealing with a disorganized OB and deaths in law enforcement. Both of those are scary things!

AFM, it's very boring over here. I had an appt with my new OB's office, but I only met the NP and not any of the four team OBs. I know I have plenty of time to meet them all, but I'm just keeping my FX that I'll like them okay. She only used the doppler, so I haven't seen baby since the NT and won't again until the A/S on the 17th. The old OB called me high risk, so she wanted me in every two weeks, but the new one said I might be slightly elevated risk, but no need for more frequent appts. It's so hard to go that long! I'm so grateful for my home doppler, as there are sometimes (particularly when someone posts a loss thread here or similar) that I just get so worried that something is going to go wrong. I pulled it out three times in a 24 hour period this week because of that paranoia, but the heartbeat was there no problem every time.

I guess I just answered the QOTW! Otherwise, the only symptom I still have is the fatigue, and I finally broke down and introduced half-caff coffee into my day bc I'm so behind with my work. We'll find out the sex on the 17th. I bought my first baby item yesterday: a changing table with pads off CL for $25! Unfortunately the nursery is still without flooring, so I don't know where we can put it. :-/

    Hope all are doing well!

  • Hi all! I absolutely love reading these updates every week. Not much new here. We found out we are having our 3rd girl from the Harmony test several weeks ago. Our anatomy scan is Monday. I can't wait to see her on the ultrasound for an extended time. I've had 3 short ultrasounds so far, which is so much different than my previous twin pregnancy. That is definitely hard to get used to. I've gotten a few comments now from strangers. It is definitely obvious that I'm pregnant. And I feel her move at least once a day.

Since I'm high risk, I haven't gone longer than 3 weeks without an appointment. I think between my midwife and the MFM I will have one every 2 weeks. Its nice to be able to know everything is okay, but I'm too busy to be driving 1 1/2 hours one way to the doctor every 2 weeks. I think I'm a little resentful of being high risk. I am heterozygous Leiden Factor V, so I have to stay on blood thinners as a precaution. I've never had a blood clot myself. My midwife told me that I may have to be induced because of it. Definitely, not in my plans! I'll also have to have continuous fetal monitoring because of that and that I'm going to be attempting a VBAC. I'm just disappointed that I can't have a "normal" pregnancy.

  • GrailSeeker14 so glad that all is ok, sorry you had such a scare!

No appointments to report (will have one next Thursday... IS IT HERE YET?) but nothing scary to report either, so I have to take that as a good sign. I think as soon as I can feel baby moving it will do A LOT to give me peace of mind... until then it's all just a waiting game from appointment to appointment.

We find out whether we're team pink or blue on December 5. Til then, I swear its a boy and hubby has a gut feeling it's a girl. One of us will be right! LOL

As for my OB, the practice as a whole is very very understanding of women coming out of IF clinics. I have appointments every three weeks (instead of the standard 4-5) and I have been told repeatedly that if I ever need a 'calm me down' visit to just call and they will fit me in. When I went in at 12 weeks and they didn't hear the hb with the doppler (baby was too small and hiding) they let me have an extra visit and a bonus U/S. Overall I am very happy with the transition.

  • @grailseeker14 - I'm sorry about your scare, but glad your OB is so great! Did your OB check your cervical length because of the bleeding, or is that part of your normal check up?

@fro88 - I feel the same way as you - once I start to feel baby moving I think I'll feel a whole lot more reassured!

I'm sorry for those of your still experiencing morning sickness - that just doesn't seem fair.

AFM, we have an OB appointment on Friday but no ultrasound. I went shopping for maternity clothes last weekend! I'm SO much more comfortable this week at work and don't ever want to go back to normal pants. For those of you who need professional clothes, try Macy's - I got three pairs of pants and a skirt for $120.

I finally came out to my coworkers because I couldn't hide the bump anymore. I found out that another coworker is going through IVF now - even though IVF feels so lonely, since we had success I've been amazed to find out how many others have been through it or are going through it now.

Cute moment of the week is that DH has started sleeping with his hand on my belly. He just reaches out in the middle of the night, I'm not sure he even knows he's doing it. Love him.

My OB isn't doing anything differently for us, just treating it like a normal pregnancy. I can't decide if that's a good thing or not.

  • We had our 16 week appointment and early anatomy scan on Friday. Everything looked okay so far. It was so cool to be able to see different parts of the brain and the chambers of the heart. We also got visual confirmation of our Panorama results that we are having a girl - they estimated that she weighs about 5 ounces.

I had been worried that I haven't been eating enough, but I've already gained 10 pounds since my pre-pregnancy weight!

It's starting to feel a little more real, but I still don't quite feel pregnant. We painted our "nursery wall" this weekend (we live in a one bedroom apartment, so we just have a nursery nook, not a whole room), and a dresser that's going to double as a changing table. I wanted to wait until at least 20 weeks to do anything baby related, but my husband insisted on painting. Still can't bring myself to get a crib yet though.

    QOTW:
I think my OB practice is used to seeing lots of IF patients (we live in NYC), so they haven't really treated me any differently. My RE office was like a factory, so I definitely don't miss it, but I do miss the frequent appointments and their high tech US machine. At the same time, it's kind of nice (though strange) to be considered just a "normal" pregnant person now.

    Random question for the group:

My OB said I needed to get a pertussis (whooping cough) vaccine in my 3rd trimester, and that anyone who is going to be in regular contact with the baby before she's 6 months old needs to get one too. Has anyone else heard of this?
  • @GrailSeeker14 - Sorry to hear about the spotting. Hope the pesky SCH resolves very soon. GL with your Thursday appointment. Yay for the crib arriving and an awesome OB.

@catlover790 - Hope your morning sickness starts to fade soon. Are you taking any medication for it? Medication helps me a lot.

@Alicia_R1 - GL with nursery preparation! Fun!

    @yarnymommy - I hope you have a great vacation!

@tashira - I am in a similar boat…was hospitalized 2 weeks ago for heavy bleeding due to partial previa. Lots of T&Ps for no further bleeding. I hope your placenta will migrate.

@CaterinaC - Meds have helped me a lot. I take diclectin (called diclegis in the states) regularly and on the bad days I take Zofran.

@AMShark - I am already a house! The growth is pretty exponential and shocking with twins.

@Seachels98 - Lots of T&Ps to your colleague and his family. That sounds frustrating with the conflicting info from the OB's office.

  • Update: Thankfully no more bleeding so far -- really hoping it will stay that way. I think I posted last week that we are having a boy and a girl :) Still dealing with morning sickness, but it is pretty well-managed with medication at this point and I just noticed that my headaches have become more infrequent, which is awesome, especially if it's a continuing trend. I can't believe how big I am getting. I already feel so uncomfortably big and I hopefully have a very long way to go. My next scan will be 11/9 and that will be a quickie u/s with a cervical length check. Next OB appointment isn't for a couple weeks.

QOTW: I've had a lot of appointments and ultrasounds due to the recent hospitalization for bleeding. My OB is high-risk only and I think she sees a lot of patients who have an infertility history. I do miss my RE, though.

  • I had a 16 week anatomy scan (have another at 20 weeks) but so far team green and staying that way.  Everything looks good so far.

QOTW: mine handled it very easily.  I transitioned from my RE to my OB somewhere around 10 weeks.  They have worked together with countless patients so already had a method on how that goes down.

.....   Random question for the group: My OB said I needed to get a pertussis (whooping cough) vaccine in my 3rd trimester, and that anyone who is going to be in regular contact with the baby before she's 6 months old needs to get one too. Has anyone else heard of this?
We're actually looking in to getting a TDAP (Tetanus, diphtheria, & pertussis) vaccine for DH - possibly tonight.  Though, I'd like to know if he can get a vaccine just for pertussis, since he is already up-to-date on the other two.  I was wondering when/if I could get one too.
.... We're going to a "Baby Fair" at our hospital tonight, so I'm hoping to get more info on the vaccine then.
I'm not afraid to make a list of vaccines that people are required to get before spending time with my babies.  I'll totally offer to pay for the shots for my parents & in-laws, as they've both offered to help, ...  but I plan to be pretty insistent.   :D

Speaking of costs, does $50 seem off base for this vaccine?  That's the price that I've seen - I'm wondering if I should shop around a little more.

  • Hi! Found out we are having another girl last weekend! I have even feeling movement since last week which is so reassuring.

QOTD- my ob doesn't treat me any differently which isn't great for my anxiety. I used them before so I didn't expect it either.

    Glad everyone is doing well!

  • I find out the sex on Saturday. I cannot wait to find out, but I am also just so excited to see the LO. It's only been 3 weeks, but it feels like an eternity. I am feeling movement pretty frequently at 16 weeks; at first there were flutters, then they turned into somersaults that are keeping me up at night. Like a PP said, I am also going into this elective u/s a little leery of the idea that they will not mention if something doesn't look right, and it's at least another 4 weeks until my official A/S.

Since I unexplainably conceived this baby pre-IVF, my RE kicked me out quickly :) I've only seen him once since my BFP. I'm pretty indifferent with the OB since it's a group practice. I think I underestimated the value of familiarity. I am always happy to see the US Tech because she's the only person I recognize!

When we found out we were having a girl I had no idea how to decorate.  I had been thinking of doing forest friends with foxes and raccoons, but that changed and it took me a good week to find kitten decorations.

here is the link that shows all the kitten decals and this is the picture we got for the other wall

    All Welcome

  • GrailSeeker14 - I'm sorry about your scare, but glad things are okay.  And yes, I'm having a girl.

New this week:  My belly keeps popping out even though I've hit a weight plateau (temporary, I am sure).  I also saw my OB this week, and everything looks good with the baby.  I still have something that might cause some bleeding/spotting, but it has gotten smaller.

I did tell the ultrasound technician that regardless if she saw something or not, I was acting like I was finding out the sex.  I was so tired of acting like I didn't know the sex, but the reason I knew was due to the genetic testing on our embryos.  That isn't anyone's business but who I've disclosed it to.  Well, my baby girl decided to flash her butt at us so we actually got a shot proving it's a girl.

QOTW:  I love my OB.  She considers IVF patients higher risk, so I have an ultrasound every time I visit.  (I think I've mentioned that before).  I appreciate her attention.  Plus, I personally know others who have had some issues and my OB has been great (even performing an emergency surgery on her day off).
  • Hi ladies. Late to the party because this week has been crazy for me. Teachers' favourite time of year: report card writing week! Except I'd usually just have a bunch of late nighters to get them done, and I just can't stay awake past 10pm now. To add to that, I caught a nasty cold and am suffering through with no meds. Anyone have any safe suggestions for cold remedies for us pg ladies?

Anyway, enough complaining. I'm 14w, 5d today and feeling pretty good! I definitely have a little bump going on. My next appt is in 2 weeks (@16 weeks) and I'm having an ultrasound to check my cervix length. I don't know if they'll check the bean too, but I'd love an early look to determine sex.

QOTW: from reading on here it seems my Re is not the norm, but he will continue to monitor me throughout the whole pregnancy unless I want to switch to an ob. I like that he knows my IF history best so I'm happy to stay with him even though I could get an ob much closer to home.

  • Thank you @catlover790‌! I used a heart shaped potholder and traced the heart. I then carved the hole around the tracing. Worked well! Hubby worked with the lighting etc in Photoshop. I love how it came out and it was a good team effort. :)
