Omg guise.... so I bought Henry a box of teddy grahams to go with yogurt as an afternoon snack and holy crap - I completely forgot how DELIGHTFUL these little bears can be. I might eat his whole box.
I have only been lurking because I usually bump from phone and the app has gotten awful since Apple updated their iOS. Anywho, the city and surrounding areas where I live do Trick or Treating tonight, (the 30th) and it drives me crazy! Plus they don't call it trick or treating, they call it beggars night and the kids have to tell a joke! When I first moved here someone tried to tell me that it was an Iowa thing, and I was like actually no it's not. I grew up in Eastern Iowa and we do it like that rest of the country on the 31st!
Plus, kids today get to go trick or treating like 5 times before the actual holiday. Between the zoo, and the malls, and the museums and the churches all offering alternatives for trick or treating these kids make bank! Maybe I'm just jealous about this because I love candy! Can't wait to go in the upcoming years....next year our little ones will be 8 months. Is that too soon to start trick or treating?
@rosieo52 i took DS trick or treating last year at 4 months. we didnt actually accept any candy from people; we just thought it'd be fun to go around with him and say hello to our neighbors.

Re: medicated birth vs natural. I really don't get why some women get off from telling people how they went natural and look down on those that were medicated. I got one right here at work that loves to tell me I HAVE TO go natural. F that shit, I just want the baby in my arms, safe and unharmed and am open to all options. If the circumstance calls for a C-section, I'm getting it.

Lol I always buy several boxes because I know I'll eat some every time I give them to the girls. In college I would dip them in frosting first. Sinful!
My birth centre doesn't offer epi or C-section, but they send you 30 min away if the need arises. My friend CANNOT get over the fact I will not be giving birth somewhere that does do C sections because she needed one. She thinks its insane. The hospital has a 1% C-section send away rate. This is extremely low, her hospital has closer to 20% rate and this is one of the reasons I chose my hospital--just a personal preference. I believe that it should be available if needed (which it is, just at a different hospital) but what is the big deal of me trying without it? they can heli me in an emergency in less than 5 min. And she keeps saying yeah good luck without the epi you will regret that later...thannnkssss.

Haha, my husband went to pick up my daughter from preschool last month and she was having Teddy Grahams as a snack. Since that day, my house has had a steady stream of TG coming into it... and then going straight into all of our mouths.
@rosieo52 My friend is from Des Moines and told us that she always had to tell a joke to get candy on Halloween... maybe it's just hyper-regional?
I'll go take a look at the hospital bill thread, but can I just ask that we try to say medicated vs. unmedicated (or something similar)? I guess I don't care that much, but honestly, I hate hearing about "natural" birth as a term, because hi, all birth is natural, duh.

@dacora I am so sorry for your loss. When my little sister's hamster had to be put to sleep because if a tumor my entire family was a mess. Big hugs to you.
Had swimming lessons this morning and Ella was back to her usual happy self. She swam ALL BY HERSELF from my arms to the wall like six times in a row!! No tears, no meltdowns. Phew! I am so relieved.
Then off we went to a Halloween party with our toddler play group. Ella had a blast. I was exhausted. Looked like I wasn't the only one because on the way home this happened...
Just read that ridic hospital bill thread and.... some of you have insurance that covers 100% pre-natal and delivery charges?!?! Fuck that shit man! My max out of pocket for the year is $2500!!
Fuck why am I not having this kid in Canada?! Grrrrrrr....
So DBF & I just sat down to eat dinner & it was so gross! We both spat it out, laughed, looked at each other and said "pizza?" Which is now on its way.

Yeah but the crappy thing about Canada is you don't get to choose a doctor. At my office there is a lottery of everyone who doesn't have family doctors and you might get chosen when a new doctor starts depending if your name is drawn. Otherwise you have to go to a mat clinic (which I do) and see a different doctor every time (only 5 diff doctors and I like them all) or go to walk in. Shitty.
I am guessing our doctors don't get paid as much and that's why we have such a shortage!

I think that's the case. Hospitals, doctors, etc. are BIG business here. I will say, it is nice to have a private room, a great OB practice with midwives, etc. I wouldn't know what to do if I had to have baby #2 in Canada. I honestly don't even know how it really works!
The experiences I had in ERs growing up though, make me want to stay away from Canadian hospitals if I can help it. :-<
@lizzybean I'm in the good ol' US of A and have 100% coverage thanks to DH's awesome insurance. Although, I found out if I was still on my parents' plan it would've been the same way.
@foxslaw DH and I have done that before where we tried a new recipe and it was disgusting. We both chewed, looked at each other, and I said "pizza?" and he said "already dialing" gotta love when you're on the same page like that

@lizzybean - yeah DH works for the federal government so that's like the ONE perk, good insurance.
He actually took a pay cut rather than working in industry to work for the government for things like job stability and good insurance benefits - so yeah all maternity related expenses (pre/post natal, labor & delivery) all covered 100%.
I thought that our max OOP of $2500 was pretty good... I didn't even know there was insurance here that covered 100%. With Ella our max OOP was $2000. I am super jealous!

I'm not in Canadia but we just pay a bunch for our PPO, which happens to cover pre-natal and delivery (plus aftercare) 100%. I'm sure we won't be able to afford this insurance forever if we keep adding kids to the policy, but it's great for now.
Our policy costs us only DH's paycheck premium (about $1200yr) and copays $15/$30 for reg/specialist. However standard care visits... routine doc checkups, all prenatal visits-hospital-postnatal... all covered within network, no out of pocket expense at all. No deductibles, no coinsurance. I think our insurance is awesome. Even most of our IVF treatments were covered. Just elective extra procedures/testing we had to pay out of pocket for.

It is good @lizzybean. I think our max OOP for EVERYTHING else is $7000... but usually the coverage and what it entails is enough we don't ever come near that number (thank goodness). This year we're currently at like $680 OOP for the year. For some reason the maternity benefits are stellar - the rest of the insurance is just OK.

Oooh ok interesting. As far as I know, our max OOP is for everything. I didn't realize certain costs could be set aside from that max OOP. It is nice that they specify baby costs as covered 100%.
Hi ladies! My BUMP was a bitch today. I couldn't sign on from my phone, then I couldn't love tit, then I couldn't comment, then I couldn't see my notifications, etc. etc. etc.

@lizzybean we owed something like $4500 (after insurance paid $6300) and are still paying off Noah's hospital bills from 2 years ago. I'm so over working full time with no health benefits to show for it (we have to pay for our own, DH is an hourly worker).
Someday!! Maybe we'll have bangin insurance for #3...

I was going to give jennypolkadots the first vote for catfish but I think she's more of a troll than a catfish. Am I naive that I really don't think we have a true catfish? I mean I'm sure plenty of people are lying about some things to a certain degree, not anyone in particular but just because that's human nature. I really can't think of anyone that really fits my idea of a catfish. Well, there is one but she doesn't even go here, I think she belongs to J15?

It really does suck. The only nice thing is they don't charge interest, so we only pay $45 a month and will probably keep doing that for the rest of our lives...

Glad you're feeling much better than this morning! Speaking of pears, have you ever had Asian pears? They're an apple pear hybrid and are awesome!!! DDs prefer them over pears or apples. It seems silly to me that I only just discovered them a few months ago, but I'm sure glad I did!
