I don't see a post, so I'm just going to start one even though it's Thursday.

We had PT conferences last Wednesday. No one was immediately after us, so we ran like 15 minutes long because DD1's teachers had so many great things to say about her. That she's conscientious, doing great academically, and even that she is easy for other kids to work with and "makes other kids feel safe". Some anxiety that peaks at times like when she can't find something, but it sounds like her teachers are handling that way better than mine did when I was a kid, and the way they're responding is actually helping her be a bit more resilient each time, it sounds like.

It's great to feel like your kid is both loved and getting what she needs. I wish she had a BFF, but I'm encouraged that when I asked her to start thinking about what she'd like to do for her birthday this year, that she immediately named a group of about half a dozen kids, both boys and girls, that she'd like to invite.

OH. I almost forgot! She SCORED A GOAL at her soccer game this past weekend. It was the last game of the season and she did it! She has been playing spring/fall since she was three and I don't think she's kicked a goal in at least four seasons, maybe more. We've tried hard not to emphasize it, and praised her for the things she has improved on, like focus or speed or just getting in and kicking the ball, or assists. But DH and I were so thrilled that she finally was able to do it, and I think DD1 was (deservedly!) proud of herself as well.

We survived two back to back parties with dd in tow on Saturday. She did about a million times better than I could have ever imagined. Towards the end of #2 (hour six of socializing!) two of the other kids came to the big pile of pretend kitchen food she was playing with. She ripped the stuff out of their hands and said no, that's mine. I went over and hand over hand for her to give it back because there was enough toys to share. She sulked and said "I am not happy!" I told her I was sorry she was upset but she needed to share. I assumed that she was going to lose It and we were going to have to leave but instead she joined the other kids instead. She actually outlasted ds as he was the one who lost it and forced us to go.

They trick or treated at CSS yesterday and DD did great. According to her SLP she walked up to each office door said Trick or Treat held out her bag for her candy and said Thank You. We've been reading a social story and her ABA school has been doing some work around this too as part of there Halloween theme for the week. I am so hapoy that she seems to be getting it!

Last Friday we went to a big event at DD's school (around 300 people). We were there for almost 3 hours in the evening, and DD1 handled it beautifully. She was anxious about it because she really wanted it to be fun, and at a similar event at her preschool a couple of years ago she had a huge meltdown. She talked herself through her anxiety beforehand and was in a great mood when we got there

DS started his new preschool on Tuesday and his SEIT said it went pretty well. He had trouble sitting still for circle time and in line but he did an art project almost completely on his own and interacted appropriately with the other kids in his class. Day 2 is today and it is a Halloween party so it's gonna be a tough one. Keeping my fingers crossed.

I have a funny one. DS was eating a Hershey bar, and asked me what it said (he always asks me to read print to him). I answered, "it says Hershey's, it's the name of the company that makes it." He looked at me, an incredulous look on his face, and said "Mom, how do you know all this stuff?"

Thanks to strep throat taking down my entire family, DS1 only went to school 1 day last week. This morning he was finally all better and said he wants to go to school. He also ate something a little different for breakfast. It's not a new food, but something he doesn't eat that often, which is great considering yesterday was the first day he ate normally since last weekend. He has also been hugging/trying to hug his little brother a lot the last few days. I just wish it was better received by DS2! ;-)
