I'm coming over to play (Intro)

edited October 2014 in Trouble TTC
Hey ladies,

I'm DaBears and I'm new to 3T. My home board is TTC TTGP and I started there in February 13. Some background without overwhelming statistics. I told my OB that I just wanted to get through our wedding and honeymoon without getting pregnant. I told her I wanted something temporary, easily reversible, but without a lot of maintenance/remembering. She gave me Depo. I took two Depo shots. Two. One, two. The second one was in September of 2013. Since then I have been fortunate enough to get AF every other week or so and sometimes three times in one month. It is fantastic. Oh, and I gained 35 pounds. I charted for the first few months but after four months or so with no ovulation and no cycle longer than 18 days I stopped charting. There was no sense in it.

So I kicked my old OB to the curb and began hunting a new one. It took a while but I finally found one who didn't immediately want to prescribe Clomid. She told me to come back after I had been trying for one year and we could discuss my options. Which brings me here. I'm coming up on my one year mark. My new OB wants to do bloodwork and an HSG. She's not the one who will be helping me though, she just does the inital work and then will refer me to an RE if anything looks off. I am having a longer cycle this month (CD 20 today) but I expect that I'll start a new cycle in the next few days.

And for your time, here's a gif of a fish chasing a laser. Cause cats aren't the only ones.

Welcome I recognize you from TTGP? Or maybe from a search I did about depo... I was put on depo after I finished chemo and wasn't allowed to get pregnant for two years.  It is definitely not the thing an OB should give you if you want to get pregnant soon.  That was really stupid of your doctor.  It can take a long time to regulate your cycle after depo, most doctors say a year after you were due for you last shot.  I know that my issue is AF hasn't been here for a very long time even before depo.  But the doctor said after my ultrasound that most of my damage and issue are from cancer and chemo not depo. I would recommend seeing an RE sooner rather than later even if your OB does some of the testing.  RE's can tell you pretty quickly (usually a month or two) what they think the issues are etc, you might not start a treatment that quickly but at least start a game plan.  Good luck to you!
    Married: 12/15/2012    TTC: 08/2014
    Husband: 26 SA: normal
Me: 23 Low AMH and damaged ovaries due to chemotherapy.
No AF or O in 3 years. HSG showed a slight T shaped uterus.

High Risk OB 9/29- got the ok to get pregnant.
RE Appt:  10/28/ U/S showed follicles, but also small damaged ovaries.
B/W results CD0: all normal except low AMH at 1.3
    Cycle 1-November (TI)- Femera 2.5mg, 2mg Estradoil, and Trigger=BFN
    Cycle 2-December (TI)- Femera 2.5 mg ,4mg Estradoil, and Trigger= No O
Cycle 3-January (TI)- Femera 5 mg, 2mg Estra
    doil, and Trigger=

That's something I wanted to ask about. Since I know I'm not ovulating (which makes me the obvious problem in this equation) should we bother getting the SA at this point? Or should we wait until I get my blood work back?

It will take awhile for both b/w and SA to come back and then meet with dr etc.  You will have to get at least one some doctors require more than that before they will start any type of medicated cycle

Hello and welcome! I'm sorry that you find yourself here, but I hope the rest of your testing goes smoothly and you have some answers and a plan soon!

Looking forward to getting to know you, although I will have to work on calming my hatred for your avatar. (Proud cheesehead here) :)
Ah, I see. Well packersfan and I got along eventually, I'm sure we can try. Although if we lose to you next week it will make it hard for us to be friends.

Welcome! I hope you have good luck with the rest of your testing and with seeing an RE.

Definitely get a SA done. I started off seeing an OB too, and first thing she did was an HSG for me and a SA for him. In our case, it was a good thing we did because well, we ain't got no sperm. Hopefully, he comes back A-ok, but it is better to have all the information before you plan out the next step.  Good luck!

Hahaha. Yeah, that's what my OB thought. Unfortunately we're in the 30% of couples that have both male and female factor IF, and I'm so glad that we got the SA done at the same time of my HSG and my initial bloodwork.

I'm sorry, I guess it's better to double check than to make time wasting assumptions. Thanks for the advice and welcomes everyone.

Welcome! Good luck with the testing. I agree with PP's to get the SA done now. My RE did all the tests (blood work for me and DH, SA, HSG, ultrasound) and then sat down with us to go over it all at once and come up with a plan. I think that's the way to go, versus doing selective tests and trying to make a plan without knowing the whole picture. Hope your stay here is short and sweet!

    TTC #1 Since July 2013

I just migrated from TTGP too, so I recognize you :) Our SA was pretty cheap (something around $40 although insurance covered it) but I'm not sure if it is normally that cheap. It is non-invasive and it doesn't hurt just to get it done. Best wishes!

Welcome! Hope you're stay is short and sweet. I started my testing with my OB (HSG, some blood work and DH's first SA). From there I met with my RE where he did a SIS, a crap ton more blood work, and a repeat SA for my DH. Apparently a lot of OB's use the WHO criteria for SA, whereas my RE used the Kruger which is WAY more specific to IF. Good luck with all of your testing. It seems like a lot but feels really good to know the exact cause of IF.
