s/o: Brushing Teeth

Does your DC let you brush their teeth?  If not, how do you brush their teeth?  DD used to be really good about letting us wipe her teeth with a washcloth.  That worked until she decided to start clamping down...ouch.  Now, she won't let us wipe her teeth at all.  We've tried a little toothbrush, but she refuses to let us brush her teeth.  Help before my child has rotten teeth!

Thanks!  :-)

Re: s/o: Brushing Teeth

  • I let him hold the toothbrush and then put my hand on top of his and guide it. He does okay...not the greatest brushing in the world, but I figure it's better than nothing! I also let him play with the toothbrush during his bath. He chews on it, so he's gotta be getting something clean...right?

  • We're lucky and DC seems to really enjoy it. She's quite the chatterbox these days and once she learned the word "teeth", she is very proud to point them out and I make a big deal of "brushing mommy's teeth" and she watches, I show her my teeth in a big smile and ask her to do the same in the mirror.  She really seems to enjoy watching herself during it too.

Oh, and I may regret this later, but at the end, I give the toothbrush to her to brush her own teeth (which she really just sucks on).

  • She doesn't like it but she lets us. She fusses the whole time and tries to bite the toothbrush.
  • we do it at the same time as he does so he wants to do what we are doing. I let him do it a while then I help him.
