Waving the white baby naming flag: We need help!

Okay I admit it- naming this baby is hard. We had DD's name chosen within a week of finding out she was a girl, but this time, not so much. So I implore you ladies to help!! Middle name options are all family names: Ann, June, Marie, and Elizabeth. Shorter ones would go with the two longer names, likely Elizabeth would only be paired with Margot.
FYI: Our first DD's name is Evelyn Clara, nn Evie. I am a nickname freak and want to love whatever nickname we use along with the "formal" name. We like traditional but not overused. Other suggestions are welcome, although I feel like I've heard everything by now!

  • I love Margot
  • Loading the player...
  • Maggie could also be a nickname for Margaret, I have a friend with that name and nickname. But of your choices, I went with Margot. :)

  • I love the Evelyn and Margot sib combo.

I like Amelia, but I feel like Margot is more unique since it's not as popular.

  • Two of your options have Maggie for a nn so that seems important to you. I would nix Amelia simply because I had at least 1-2 in my classes every year that I taught so as pretty as it is, it's a little too common for me. Magnolia or Margot I like... Margot gives me a Wes Anderson vibe which I like.. With magnolia I feel like everyone will call her Maggie for sure because it's a little cumbersome? as far as "easy to roll off the tongue.." goes.. But if she is going to be Maggie most of the time, it's kind of a nice surprise when people ask for her full name since most Maggie's I know are Margaret's (which I also love)

  • My sister is Margaret Abigail nn Maggie which I think is an awesome name.

I voted for Amelia though.  It's been on my list for a LONG time and I was bummed that it didn't sound good with our last name and that DH really didn't like it much.

  • I love Margot without a nn. If you're set on Maggie as a nn I like Margaret or Magnolia.
  • Ditto to Margaret being perfect! Margaret June has a cute ring to it.
  • Oh MAN Margot is my wildcard too!!! I don't know what I love about it, but I just think it's darling. Unusual enough without being unique! Magnolia is a close #2. DH loses.

  • I voted Margot, but Ameila is lovely as well. Magnolia is NMS.
  • I hear everyone about Margaret, I do, but it's not a contender. We have friends with a little Margaret, and I'm not fond of it personally. And I know- Maggie is a bit of a stretch as a nn for Margot, but as @erobbins09‌ noted, it's on there twice for a reason- I really love it!!! :)

  • I like Margot. It's unique in that you don't hear it very often at all, but also very traditional.

I know a baby Margaret nn Margot. Just another idea. I voted Margot FWIW.

ETA: just saw your "no Margaret" comment. Then I will suggest Magdalena.

  • If you love Maggie, why not just name her Maggie? I work with a girl and that is her name. It's not a NN for anything. I personally LOVE Margot, but not with the NN Maggie. I voted for Amelia, but agree that it is becoming very popular.

I was waiting for someone to suggest this after I expressed my love for Maggie- I hear you, I really do, I could just name my daughter Maggie. But it's just not me, I just REALLY like formal names with a nickname, so my kid has the choice to drop the nickname as an adult/professional/whatever. I admit this may be silly in the eyes of some, and I'm okay with that. :)

  • Love Margot & Magnolia!!! I like Magnolia June, but it sounds a bit southern bellesque (if you're cool with that). I also agree with @lizzybean that Margot Elizabeth is beautiful
  • I picked Amelia. I had a friend growing up who's name was Amelia and we all called her Leah or Emmie.

@foxslaw I totally agree, Magnolia June is my favorite combo, but it's VERY Southern-sounding to me, and we live in NY and are definite "Yankees" ;) I'm not sure how much that affects my feelings about the name, but I agree with your assessment!
