$1,000 a month blog

So I read some of this blog one day and its depressing.  Maybe because she posts her pictures in B&W to make it seem even more depressing.   I don't like her blog.

But I did get something from it.  She recommended Google Analytics.  If you don't already have this on your blog, I recommend it.  Its neat!  It tells you how many visits you've had, from where in the county/world, etc.   Where they came from (kep, most of my traffic arrives from your site, oddly enough!).

  • Yeah, Analytics is great. I use it for work..it gives a lot of valuable info for free.

As for the $1000 lady, the 12-24 board made a big tadoo out of her blog last week I think, I don't agree with the way she lives either, but I think the cries of "call CPS" on that board were a bit much.

  • Yeah, I mean, she's not unfit.  I just don't know why she doesn't set her goals a little higher.  I mean having a goal of owning a trailer home seems odd to me.   Not exactly shooting for the stars.

Also, I personally think her priorities are out of whack.  She won't buy healthcare or dental insurance for her children, but she will pay a midwife for her next birth and will pay for internet access.  She can get free internet access by going to the library.

Just my opinion though and I fortunately don't have to live on her budget.   It makes me appreciate the budget I do have.

  • I've never heard of this blog.  Now I want to see.  What's the link?

And, I'm definitely checking out Google Analytics.

  • I actually think she does a good job of managing her budget on $1000 per month. I can't even imagine living on that kind of budget but I know that it would have to exclude some things that I would normally consider "mandantory" like health insurance in favor of things like food. Her children don't seem neglected or abused and seem healthy in general. If it works for them, and no one is being harmed, who are we to judge? I'm guessing most of us have never tried to raise a family on that budget.

  • The pictures on this blog are awful. They make everything look dirty, and in reality I think she does it to hide the dirtiness. It is not good.

I use statcounter on my blog, and can see where everyone comes from, I love it!

  • I don't like it either Michelle.  And whose to say those kids aren't being hurt from it.  She seems like a total extremist and even makes a joke about it.  And as she states several times, they choose to live under this budget.  They don't have to.  The worst though?? Default Chicken.  GA-Ross!!!!!!!

  • I just looked and disgusting. Now, I can't imagine a budget like that but the pics are completely awful!
  • Enh.  I think she's got one foot off the general grid, but at least the drive behind some of her BSC behaviors isn't altogether ridiculous.  I do, however, take offense at the fact that she calls herself a "phychologist."  Ick.  Not a title to be used lightly, IMO.
