Can someone help break down amniotic fluid levels. What should it be at? I just had an ultrasound and my levels were lower then last week bUT when I questioned it the tech said it's because of my diet. She said it fluctuates based on what I eat and drink. I didn't think it worked like that. Considering how often I'm dehydrated from HG. Can someone give me a little insight please.
The way my doc explained it to me is that your fluid is a direct reflection of what you take in. Whenever my fluid is on the lower end she always asks if I've been slacking on my fluid intake (and she's always right) since the fluid is essentially what baby pees out at this point.. The amount of fluid you take in can really impact that.
Hmm okay. I've been drinking more than I have my entire pregnancy now that I can drink water again. What's a dangerous level for fluid? ******************************
I don't know if all docs are the same but with mine she says anything below an 8(not sure what form of measurement they use) is an issue. She also wants to see one pocket of fluid be at least a 3. (I think it's measured in CM if I'm not mistaken.. But don't quote me on that. My fluid level is usually between 14 -16.
They measure the fluid at NSTs so that's good-- you'll get another figure soon! 9-10 is great for this stage in pregnancy so I wouldn't worry (especially since doc wasn't)
I am really wondering how I will make it through a couple more weeks at work. Every time I was up and walking the sales floor it was pretty much constant braxton hicks. And that was not fun.

This confuses me a little. I've heard that amniotic fluid is pretty much the baby's urine, but then have also heard that the way you tell the difference between leaking amniotic fluid and leaking urine is by smelling it (amniotic fluid smelling sweet). But if amniotic fluid is mostly urine, whey doesn't it smell like urine?
Thanks @MrsG1019 she said it was a 9/10 but said that's fine. I have another appointment Thursday, granted it's just it another NST but I can ask the nurse.
This is something I actually know a little about!* I think 5 cm is the lowest they'll let you get before intervening. Besides a good total number, they like 4 pockets, and at least 1 being 2 cm. I only know these numbers because I failed all of them at one point. I improved them, and now my numbers sound like yours (I'm a few days behind you) and my doctor is happy for now. Since you already get NSTs, I'm not sure they'd change anything at this point for your levels.
WTAF.... Sitting on the couch and DH says he doesn't really like the name we picked.... MONTHS ago. This is enough to make his 37 week pregnant wife have a complete meltdown.
@crizz13 That is terrible, if my H did that I would loose it!!!!! We have already announced that name and it would be weird to change it now, especially sense when we talk to him we call him by his name! Did H at least throw out some ideas???
Nope.... Nobody IRL knows the name, but I've been calling her by name for months at home. No suggestions just that he doesn't like it. I told him he has two days to think of something better otherwise he's out of luck. :-(
@flutterbuggie my boss is actually a certified car seat inspector. You're right, it's not easy to find one. I've actually heard mixed opinions on the fire halls- my aunt's BIL is a fireman and has to take a course every year, so some firemen are definitely certified. I'll pm you
@kyliedaniellexx that cat gif is amazing. I also meant to tell you I loved that pic of the kitten in the bump. My cat has been attempting the same, but we're having some issues getting comfy.
@crizz13 that's really annoying. I would lose my mind if DH said that. I'm sorry
I just realized...I have to bring my pup in for some shots today and I absolutely hate doing this. I normally make MH do it because I hate it so much. My dog doesn't even get bothered by the shots but he HATES having his temp done. I'm usually such an emotional wreck (there have been tears before) holding him and telling him it's all going to be ok. The part I just realized...I'm going to have to do this with a kid in a few months and they will probably actually cry. Am I a bad mother if I just MH to those appointments? I'm not sure I can handle this.
Can you not ask to leave the room or have staff hold? We never have owners hold for anything and they are always welcome to stand outside the room if anything makes them uncomfortable.
I can, but we've found that's worse. I definitely cry and Harley has to be physically picked up and carried to wherever they need him to be and he cries too. If I'm in there he will at least sit still and allow them to do what they need to do. This is why it's soooo much easier for MH to handle the vet visits. I'm just such a sap - and I know Harley feeds off my energy so I'm not helping anyone.
******* That makes sense, still sucks for you though sorry!
@crizz13---my DH pulled this last week. Decided he didn't like it anymore. I tried to go back to the drawing board, but I've been calling her by her name for so long it just feels funny trying out other names. My plan is to completely ignore the topic until she is born-at which time if he knows what's good for him he will fold like a card table and her name will be what it's been for the last 2 months!!

I'm sure you just love clients like me
***** Bwahaha! Honestly, for the most part, I'm good with whatever as long as I don't get bit ;-) I go along!
Oh ladies, I both feel for and envy those of you so close to your LO! I'm good without the contractions and general pains right now, though, so you have my sympathies!
My OB appointment went really well, but Dr says she sees no indication that LO could come early "or even on time." I don't want early, at all, but right on my due date would be awesome. It could obviously change at any time, but at this point, it looks like I'm going from "one of the last to give birth" to "how is minibean still pregnant?"

@minibean16 - Lol, when are you due? Will you be one of those lucky END of November moms?

I'm already due on the world's best date of November 28th. At my shower yesterday, my 6 year old cousin predicted I'd give birth on December 20th - WHAT IF SHE'S RIGHT???

I've heard for months that your water doesn't break on its own, especially early on, that they'll break it at the hospital... but it seems like the recent birth stories all feature water breaking... Dare i hope the same for myself? I'm still in camp How The Hell Will I Know, since contractions have no pattern or timeability at all...
I wonder what the real statistic is for water breaking for FTM... Between me and my friends it's about 50/50 that have had their water break on their own. I'm glad my water broke with DD because if not I think I would be one of those people very close to having the baby in the car. I'm super nervous about going to the hospital and them sending me home so I would probably wait until things got really bad, plus I have a high tolerance for pain. Now that I think of it, even though my water broke I still took my time going to L&D because I was in denial and it was a trickle not a gush...
