Baby Names

Baby Boy Names

Hi, everyone! Just wanted to run the names that we have been thinking about by you. Let me know what you think. Any of them that we definitely should not consider? Any good ones to add? Our last name starts with a D and is one syllable. Dylane is FIL's name, and we are thinking of using it as a middle name.

Rowan Dylane
Jameson Dylane
Brooks Dylane
Brendan Dylane

My husband and I really like Rowan, but I've been hearing it pop up more and more...with girls too. I don't know if I want my son to have what could be the next trendy name, which will make it sound dated.

ETA: I know a lot of people dislike Jameson, but it has a special meaning to my husband and me. Plus I like the name Jamie for a boy.

  • I like Rowan and Brendan but Brendan seems kinda dated in a still too soon to bring back kinda way (I'm thinking early '90's teen show). And Rowan is trending up fast for boys and girls. So I suggest...

    Adrian Dylane
    Bastian Dylane
    Ezra Dylane
    Edgar Dylane
    Earl Dylane
    Maynard Dylane
    Rogan Dylane
    Sullivan Dylane
    Ryan Dylane
    Shea Dylane
    Reid Dylane
    James Dylane
    John Dylane

  • I like all them except Jameson. Rowan, Brendan, and Brooks were all on our list for our second son.
    I prefer Rowan.

    I will suggest:

    Ronan
    Kai
    Blake

  • Thanks, everyone! Looks like Rowan is the frontrunner. It's also my husband's favorite. Mine happens to be Jameson:-O, but it's not getting much love around here. Ha!  As far as naming him James, I just don't think I'm a fan of it, not that it's a bad name at all. I just really like the way Jameson sounds, and I'm sentimental about it.

Thanks for the additional suggestions. I will run the ones I like by my H.

  • Rowan is the best option.
  • I don't love Rowan, and I think it's use is escalating (but I personally don't see it becoming trendy or top 10) but it's my favorite from your list

I get that it's hard to let go of sentimental favorites, but the alcohol association is too strong for me for Jameson. And I'm not a fan of the -son ending name trend.

  • I absolutely love Rowan and would use it if DH could get on board.  Definitely name him Rowan so I can live vicariously through you.  ;)

  • My husband and I love Avery for years now for a baby boy. Only problem is I feel like it's more commonly used for girls now
  • Love Rowan and Brooks (my favorite). For me Brennan Dylan doesn't roll of the tongue so well. I like James Dylan far more than Jameson Dylan ; it's easier to say.
  • I love Brendan and Rowan!

  • Brooks is the clear winner for me. I don't mind Rowan but I don't like it with Dylane, I don't like that they both end with the same sound
  • Dylane isn't pronounced like Dylan. It has a long A sound. Like Dill-lane. I don't know if that makes a difference at all.

  • Rowan is my favorite!  I adore that name.  I love James but dislike Jameson.  Brendan is fine and Brooks is NMS.

I don't think it's a big deal one way or the other. It's in the middle name spot and it's honoring family. I think any of the names you choose will be fine with it. I think meaning trumps the "flow" of a name.

I forgot to mention in my previous post... I think Dylane (pronounced Dill-lane) works with your name choices. Although, Jameson Dylane may be more of a mouthful than the other 3 choices. James Dylane would flow much easier :)
