By the time I got pregnant I had given up my hard drinking ways, so it is not a big deal for H to continue to drink, doesn't make me jealous.

  • My H has been talking a big game about quitting but he definitely hasn't. He's cut back, though. I keep telling him it's okay! I love fall/winter beers so one of us should enjoy them!

  • My husband has cut back, but he was cutting back anyway due to his cancer. There are studies that indicate that cutting back on alcohol can increase his liver's resistance to the cancer metastasizing there. If it wasn't for that, he'd probably be drinking normally. As of now, we've been hitting Trader Joe's sparkling pomegranate and cranberry juices pretty hard.

  • Dh (or me for that matter) doesn't really drink that much. He tries not too drink a ton of wine around me usually since that's my drink of choice, but he'll have a beer since I don't like it. Although with how sick I am nothing is tempting so I don't mind at all if he drinks in front of me.

  • We were never big on alcohol so it's no problem for us. Although sometimes his food choices makes me want to hurl. But as long as I don't have to cook it I don't care if he eats it.
  • I don't drink anyway ( I just don't like the way it makes me feel) I don't care if my husband drinks though, he works in Pro sports so there is a lot of schmoozing but he is pretty tame.

Ugh, agreed with the food thing! My husband heated up some chicken with mae ploy sauce about a week ago, and I could not handle it, it smelled TERRIBLE!

  • He hasn't quit drinking, but he has stopped getting laid after he's been drinking... The smell of alcohol is making me extremely nauseous these days. Poor guy.

He had my favorite pizza the other night and I was so excited when he put it in the oven. Not so excited when it came out. I felt like I couldn't get.away from the smell. I ABSOLUTELY love pizza too.
  • I wholeheartedly believe in cashing in my chips once this is all said and done. There will be some serious moms night action in about a year so I'll gladly play DD for now ;)

  • He hasn't, with football season and hockey season in full swing it'd be cruel and unusual punishment for him. (It would be for me too, but with the lingering nausea and hatred of most smells and food, I'm not missing it too much).
Besides, if we both gave up the booze, our friends would definitely know something was up!

  • Lol no. I love me some booze, but right now it sounds disgusting so I'm not missing it. But around months 7,8,9 I know I'll be dying for a drink.
  • Mine has, but it's unrelated to me being pregnant. He's starting a weight loss med & has to keep his beverages to a minimum. The med can make him really sick if not. I'm his drinking buddy anyway, so it's not a lot of fun for him to drink without me.

  • I think he feels bad drinking alone or in front of me so he has cut back. I am bummed about missing out on the winter beers - I love them!
  • No way.  He loves his miller lite waay too much.

  • 1. I would never make him suffer through my crazy mood swings without allowing him to have a beer or two. That would be just too cruel.

    2. Due to the fact we have not told anyone yet, he is probably drinking more now as he had to cover me this weekend and drink my drink brough by the hostess at a little get together. I tried to not allow the hostess to make my drinks, but she's a damn good bartender and kept topping me off!

  • Ss: SO quit b4 I got pg for personal reasons, so we're sober together for this
  • My husband doesn't drink much...just a beer or two with dinner most nights...so I wouldn't ask or expect him to quit.

He did get drunk at a tailgate/college football game this weekend that I had to drive home from...I wasn't super thrilled but that would have happened whether I was pregnant or not.
  • SS, we are big wine lovers and have quite a collection. So, he is allowed to drink whatever, except the good stuff from our wine rack.

  • SS: My dh and I never drink so it wasn't a problem for either of us to quit drinking. :)

We are wine club members at two different California wineries.  We'll get about 18 bottles of wine between now and when this baby is born- 3 per quarter from each, and we just got Q3 from both right before my BFP.  We do not have room for 18 bottles of wine!

That said, he doesn't drink much.  He has no time.  He's just now on his way home from work - another 15h day, and he'll still have work to do after he gets home.

  • DH offered to give it up knowing how much I enjoy beer once a week or so but the way I see it is that he's got a DD for the next 9 months so he better take advantage. We don't drink that much but we live in Colorado, home of hundreds of awesome local breweries and brew pubs therefore, going out for a beer once a week or every other week is a pretty common social function for us. Well... Now just for him. I'll just have a water... Thanks.
  • I wish he would stop drinking. Everytime he opens a bottle of wine I picked out I want to cry.

  • The DH has been exactly that, a darling who's been eating healthy with me. Being sober with me and being a lazy bloated fatso with me. It's great lol
  • My husband isn't a big drinker, and I am a bad influence on him so he's drinking less only because I'm not ordering a beer first, or going for a glass if wine in the evening. We have Friendsgiving on Saturday though and I told him he had better take full advantage if having me as DD.
