Laser hair removal

Is anyone familiar with laser hair removal during pregnancy? I want to ask my doctor if it's safe so that when I get a big belly everything will be all good downstairs and not shock the doctors when I go in labour.

Re: Laser hair removal

  • I think it's $40 a month and after awhile it doesn't grow back much I had a friend telling me about I don't really know much about it myself so I was seeing what people know on here

  • @SoyBoy‌ thanks :) I had a feeling that would probably be the answer but wanted to check anyways
  • I did laser hair on my armpits years and years ago (obvi not when I was pregnant), and I have to say, I regret it. It didn't work like they said it would and now the hair grows back all funky. I don't recommend it, but that's just me.
  • I did laser hair removal for a yr in my bikini area and maybe 10 treatments under my arms. I still have to shave it grows back, but it is thinner.

As far as while you are pregnant, I wouldn't do it. I was going to do a few more treatments because I had a groupon when I was trying to get pregnant and they told me it was a waste. While trying and pregnant you are on prenatal vitamins which stimulates hair growth and that just defeats the whole process.
    Fucking bump!!!!

I'm pretty sure even if you had a huge mangled up bush no doctor would be too shocked. I mean, once you're huge and can't reach it can really become the last thing on your radar. It's nothing they haven't seen before I promise you.

ETA: And during labor you're in so much pain you don't care what the hell it'll look like down there, I promise things will look worse right after the baby comes.

  • I've had it done to my underarms and bikini area (multiple treatments) and all it did was make the hair thinner/more sparse. I certainly still have to shave. I would not even think of doing this while pregnant as a means of preventing you from having to shave/groom/wax "down there" when you can't see. It's not like having a permanent bikini wax, unfortunately. If you are worried about hair removal once you can't see, I'd just invest in regular waxing if it's important to you, but like @pintobean39 said, no one will care at all what you have goin' on down there.

  • I had it done on my bikini and armpits 7 years ago. It worked in some areas but didn't work in others. I didn't know at the time, but pregnancy stimulates the hair growth. I'm already noticing more hair than before, meaning I will have to do this all over again after I'm done having kids. What a waste!
  • I have had it done on my legs, underarms, bikini, and face. I love it! It worked for me. I started the bikini area way later and was told that might take a while to treat but I do see a huge difference. I would like to continue it now but I also am not sure if I can while I am pregnant.
  • My pubic hair was the last thing on my mind during labor. Blind shaving isn't terribly hard either. I'd be worried about the hormones affecting skin pigmentation or extra hair growth, so I wouldn't do it. You could wax if it's a big deal to you. Definitely ask your doctor though! It could be totally okay. I don't know anything about it.

  • No experience with laser but like pps have said, your doc has seen it all and wouldn't bat an eye at anything you got goin' on down there.

That being said, I turned into a big foot with DS and had my belly waxed. Fuzzy navel anyone? Also a couple chest hairs but those were taken care of with tweezers.
  • Invest in a hand mirror and shower bench and call it a day. I worked for a Infertility Specialist and believe me they have seen it all! ;)

  • Definitely stick with waxing if you want to do something:)
