Another Name Post ... Thoughts on Xander

I was really trying to avoid asking here, cause all these name post kinda drive me nuts, but I need opinions. DH and I don't want to ask people IRL yet.

What do you think of the name Xander? Middle name Charles (family name)?

Picking out DS (Owen Emmett) was hard enough and we are at a loss. TIA

I agree with @kristinmtbell - I like Alexander, and Xander as a nickname.

Xander is ok in my book. Paired with name Charles I immediately think Charles Xavier though (X-Men). I like Xander Charles but if you go with Alexander I would personally put Charles first.

I don't mind Xander really. I probably wouldn't choose it for my DS, but there would be no side eyeing if I met a little boy named Xander- or a grown man for that matter. I really like Charles as a mn too.

I'm not sure about it being in a sib set with Owen though. They seem very different in style and "feel".

I like Alexander with Xander as nn as PP said. I have a friend who used Xan as her son's nn and it think it's cute.

I like it, Alexander (NN Xander) is on our list. I don't think I've ever seen it as just Xander but I would do it

I don't mind Xander but would go with Alexander if you want Charles as the middle name.

I've had both Xander and a Zander in my classrooms. Never thought of it as just a nn for Alexander. I like it on its own.

I feel silly posting this since there seems to be a consensus. Ale(Xander) Charles is a great name

As someone who's parents planned on me only going by my nickname I LOVE my full name while I fall in and out of love with the short version. so it was always nice to have that full one to rely on... But even if you forgo the the full, I wouldn't have any issue with Xander at all.

Another vote for Alexander. I mostly go by my nickname (always intended as my first name) but as an adult I do like using my full, more formal name for things.

I like Evander which is close to Xander!

Evander and Owen

Or how about Wyatt or Fletcher. I do like Xander too though.

Xander isn't what first comes to mind as a short name for me. Maybe because it can be a bit cumbersome to say? I don't know, that's just me.

I like Xander. Just Xander, not as a nickname. My brother's mn is Alexander and the only person who uses it is my grumpy grandpa who isn't well liked, so that full name is kinda ruined for me.

Side note: there is this customer who's name is Sanger, but I could never remember it so I call him Xanther (to my other coworkers) and that evolved into calling him Xantham Gum.
