If you have a loud truck or motorcycle I don't think you should be allowed to rev the engine during sleeping hours. Or ever for that matter, because it's so annoying and rude. No one thinks you're cool but you [-X

I don't think that's an unpopular opinion. I want to hurt the two guys with motorcycles in my neighborhood when they are out there for a few minutes doing that.
That's the thing to do around here for the average high school male. Intentionally make your beat up truck as loud as possible. Lucky for us we have 1 on either side of our house.
Haha. Sorry. Productive morning. In three hours, I've made pumpkin bread, clam chowder, cleaned the kitchen and had a 3 mile run.
Why can't I be you? I'm still sitting here in my pajama's! I need to shower, get ready, go talk to the insurance guy, go to the bank, meet with the accountants, finish payroll and get out of the house before the cleaning lady gets here.
I hope my kid isn't interested in soccer. I really don't like it, but it seems to be so popular with kids.
I know it sounds awful but I feel the same way. All of my nieces and nephews play and it's such a time consuming sport! My SO was a wrestler in high school and college so I assume my LO might be interested as well, which I also dislike because it is such a time consuming sport.
If my LO decides to play something I don't enjoy, I'll still support him and pretend I love his extracurriculars
I'm cool with my kid playing any sport he wants except football. Maybe not hockey either cuz that shits expensive. But I'm secretly hoping he's a nerdy kid who wants to stay home to bake and read books with me :-B

@biggunsbo I completely agree with you on the football thing. My uncle is a midget league football coach and he's always pestering me about when Haddy can start playing. Not happening, it's just not.

Adding to this. The bass in your car that rattles the windows (of your car and my house) is also unacceptable.
I cannot WAIT to get Isaac in to little league. He's going to rock the baseball diamond. I don't care for soccer so I would rather him not do that. Football I'm iffy about. I don't want him to play but we really enjoy the game so if he wants to play I would consider it.
Eliza I'm not sure about. We need to do something. Dance or gymnastics or something. She likes to swim and has taken lessons but she's not anywhere near being able to do so for a team.

Good luck with that my oldest son no longer plays sports but he joined the debate team and the drama club. I bake and his friends eat all my food..
Sounds perfect! Better them eating it then me anyway

My UO is that if your husband wakes you up at 2:30 in the morning for sex and you can't go back to sleep until 4:30 it is completely acceptable to call in to work. I wish my boss knew that.
I think safety precautions in football have improved greatly in the past several years. That being said, I'm not comfortable with P playing football. Our neighbor has two boys that play on the pee wee league and they're always out in the yard tackling each other. Like full on NFL tackling.

Can I have some of your motivation?
Also, enjoy your cabin stay
I'm happy to share my time mgmt and motivation techniques ;-)
It's the Econ school of getting shit done.
DH played baseball, I swam for my HS and played rec league soccer and basketball. I would love for DS to be involved in any of those. If he really wants to play football, I'll let him, BUT I will lobby for the other sports.
@mermomo5 soccer was never a really big thing around here until recently... or so it seems. We didn't have a high school soccer team until I was a senior so 2002. Maybe that's why I just can't seem to enjoy it? It makes my eyeballs want to bleed. Unless it's professional and then I can actually get into it, a little. Even when my younger brother played I was always in lala land thinking about other things but still went to his games to support him.
I love watching swimming. He swims and this will be his last year since he's a senior. I time at all of his swim meets and it's usually the highlight of my week
@biggunsbo you bring up a good point. Grades will be so important to me! I don't think I could pull LO from a sport, though, unless the grades were really bad. I'd feel like he'd just resent me and continue to do poorly in school? Who knows... so glad we aren't to that point yet!
Well...I guess my UO is that I'm not bothered by motorcycle noise most of the time. There are definitely times when revving their engines is unnecessary but there are lots of times I think it's needed. Too many drivers don't pay attention to people on motorcycles and I know lots of bikers who rev their engines if they are in situations where they don't think a driver realizes they are there. It helps keep accidents down for them.
But as I said, unnecessary engine revving makes me eye roll hard.
Soccer is huge in my family as my cousin played professionally for a few years before she retired at 25 to start at family. We love it and Liam already loves playing with his cousins and kicking the ball around. I will let him play what he wants to play, though I am DH will be pushing him into golf, hockey and baseball after him.
My UO: I loved the torrential rain last night. Sometimes a good storm with a glass of wine is so relaxing.

Not when you live on the NS and need a canoe to get to dunks
Oh no! I take it back then. NOTHING can mess with dunks and be ok
@haddocky Yep. Or in really congested areas of town like downtown. It's super loud downtown, which isn't great, but that's where a lot of motorcycle accidents happen here because people just don't pay attention and it's pretty easy for a biker to get caught in someone's blind spot.
I really really hope that Luke can play soccer and baseball and whatever else he wants to do. I think all kids should play sports when they are young. It's good for them in so many ways.
DH played football all the way through college. He is going to be secretly crushed if (when) Luke doesn't play, I think. He is convinced that a lot of injuries come from poor form, and not being taught proper form. And it's true that he was a smart player, and only ever had one mild concussion - and that was from being hit by Fred Jackson, so there's that.
I'm pretty torn about football, tbh. My nephews played flag football for several years and loved it; it doesn't have to be dangerous at that age, and I am 100% certain they would've been tackling each other in the yard anyway
But - while I don't want Luke to be limited by his health issues, I am pretty relieved that when the football talk happens with DH I can just say "um, no, because guts."

This kid may not have a lot of bowel, but he has plenty of guts! DS born at 34 weeks with (surprise!) gastroschisis turned short bowel syndrome. 131 days in the NICU, 7 trips to the OR, G-button, daily TPN....
We are impatiently awaiting the day we can say goodbye to his girlfriend Ivy for good.
Also lolz at anyone who freaks out about football but would let their kids play hockey. Because that's totes safer.

Re: Unpopular Opinion
Shhh... Don't tell DH or LO. I don't want to share.

I think I'd feel strange to shower with my SO at someone else's house, especially if it was my parents house.
Not judging, I would just feel very strange doing it.
