**BFP warning after QOTW**

Welcome to TTC After Loss. I'm so sorry for your loss but am happy you have found us. ((hugs)) This board is full of brilliant and kind women who have experienced the hardship of losing that which is most precious, and I hope you find great comfort and support here in your journey!

For those of you so new that you don't know the routine, this is a check-in for newer members of the TTCAL Board. Please feel free to use this space to ask those "newbie" questions that feel intimidating to ask on the main board and I will try my best to get you an answer.

**Please don't feel that you have to provide individual feedback to all of the posters ahead of you. Many do and it's great, but it's most definitely not required to be a part of this check-in. I'd just hate to think people might feel intimidated and not post because of this. All posts and responses are welcomed!**

Please take the time to read the TTCAL blog to answer any questions you may have regarding our board etiquette, TTC, miscarriage & loss, and much more: https://ttcalblog.wordpress.com/ If you are a check-in regular and get a BFP, please PM me so that I can add it to the weekly check-in with a warning for other members. If I don't get a PM, I will not mention your BFP on the check-in.

Finally, if you haven't done so, please post your introduction on the main board including your story.

***If you do not see your name, it’s because you didn’t check in last week, just join in this week and I’ll add you!***

Weekly Update:  How are you doing?  Post an update including any news, thoughts, or questions - let me know how things are going for you! If you don’t see your name, it’s only because you didn’t check in last week. Feel free to join in this week!

  • hey @rslh10 hope all is well..and as usual thanks for posting this!!

Also good morning and hope all is well to all of you checking in!

AFM, yep no temping yet so at first i was like im not gonna waste anyyy money testing...i dont wanna see another BFN anyways. Then i realized BFN or CD1 will both stress me out sooo why not test. (didnt take long for me to break my promise not to test lol) i bought TWO dollar tree test and that is ALL im gonna invest this cycle. Unlike last cycle with my wasted $15 in test lol i was so BSC that first cycle trying again lol anyways I think ill test on saturday. That would be two days prior to when my cycle is "supposed" to come!!so we shall see..i have NO symptoms but then again last cycle by now i already had "symptoms" and u see how THAT turned out lol so im not reading into that!

qotw:i realllllly need to get these 20lbs off...with the holidays coming up, if i cant lose, i would like not gain a SINGLE pound this whole holiday season..well unless its pregnancy related of course ;)

Thanks @rslh10 :) I was crying the whole first km of the race and thinking about our little one and how I wished I was pregnant with them still on race.  It was so hard, but I'm glad I did it.

Went for the second blood draw yesterday, I should hopefully get a call from the doctor today with the results.  Most likely at least one more tomorrow.  I've just been trying to resign myself to the fact that most likely their is still tissue in there and that I will have to have an ultrasound and a D and C.

My boss has luckily been awesome, she sadly seems to have had some experience with this as she asked if I would need one and when.  Hoping it doesn't come to that, but it's been well over a month since the miscarriage was started, so what else could it be.

I'm having to avoid my sister right now.  She lives 6 hours away, so it isn't too hard.  She is trying so so hard to be supportive but she is convinced that I'm getting false positives again because I'm pregnant.  I have explained to her on 4 occasions that there is NO physical way this is possible, but she keeps being "hopeful".  I'm not proud that I had to throw in a few f words on the 4th time I was telling her there is "no f***king chance" but I don't swear around her, so I'm hoping it drove it in.  She seems to be avoiding me to out of awkwardness.

I'm so sad because the doctor only benched us for one cycle and I've been so excited to get that.  I know if we have to have a D and C that we will be benched for a few months :(
I'm happy to hear that your boss is understanding. That takes a lot of the stress away knowing that you can have time off if need be. Fx for dropping betas, keep us updated on your progress. I'm sorry your sister is saying things like that. I think that when people don't know what to say is when they shove their foot in their mouth the worst. ((hugs))

ETA: Also, don't borrow trouble! You don't have a solid answer re retained tissue so, wait for your answers until you start being upset about the possibility of being benched for longer than one cycle. Three cycles in the long run isn't that long. I know it may seem long, but you want yourself to be healthy and ready physically to TTC again :) more ((hugs))!

@rslh10, thank you for posting this!  How are you doing? :)

For me, yup, AF came Saturday night.  I'm more upset than anything about my cycle.  It was a short cycle for me, with a pretty short LP.  Of course, it came when we had company over, so I sucked it up and dealt with it until they left, and then I fully admit I ugly cried on the couch for a while after they left.

But, hey, new cycle, going to try and be better about temping at the right time each day, and for right now I'm just happy with the fact I can bring my heating pad to work to deal with some of these cramps.

I'm so sorry about CD1, and with guests there!? Ugh. Sorry. I like your attitude about temping more accurately this round. I think that's great ((hugs))

  • Hey all,
This is my first time posting in this board, so "Hi".

I'm finding this wait time between my D&C and AF really hard. It has only been 5 days since my D&C, but the not knowing the future is killing me. I circled in my planner yesterday weeks 4 & 6 post D&C since that is when the doc told me I can expect to see AF. However, as evidenced by everyone else's check ins and all the reading I've done (I maybe need to chill on that) there is no guarantee that AF will show up in a timely fashion.

I'm not sure if I'm anxious to TTC again or if it's more for a sense of normalcy and the knowledge that things may be getting  back on track.

Also I'm wondering if anyone is willing to share their experiences with their partners and how they react(ed) to your participation in TB. I think my hubs finds it odd that I'm finding support online in a less traditional (i.e. my mom, sister, & friends) way ....

I hope everything is well with everyone. I look forward to reading check-ins later, when I'm not at work.

  • @tashacn sorry for your loss. we all have been where are you so you are (unfortunately) in good company. it gets a little better slowly but surely.Least for me it did.

as far as hubby. He also thought it was weird. especially when i have said out loud some of the mean comments ive read on various boards. some of the time im cracking up at them..some im like dannng that was mean!!so he doesnt get why id be on a board with mean women But i have explained to him that they are only ruthless to the people who are either super disrespectful or just so idiotic that snark is demanded. told him the knowledge ive gained here has been invaluable..and then dropped an example of one fact i learned just from being here. He seemed to accept it once i told him that fact! soo maybe try that with him.also explain that alot of frustrations/feelings you can say here with anonymity and no judgement, would NOT go over well in real life!!!hopefully he will understand that!best of luck to you

  • Hello all,

I haven't checked in here before, but I miss being a regular poster on a bump board.

I'm in the TWW right now and feeling very calm about this cycle and TTC in general. I am working through my emotions about pregnant family and friends and trying to be a part of their excitement a little more.

QOTW: I would like to finish decorating the parts of our home we haven't quite made our own yet (kitchen, bathrooms, guest room). We have also decided to be a little bit crazy and go ahead and paint the room we plan to make the nursery eventually. Like an "if you build it, they will come" mentality.

  • Hey @rshlh10 ! Good to "see" you again!  Looks like you are gearing up to ovulate, too! :-*

@negritosmami - FX for you girly. Hope you can hold out until Sat! I'm totally with you on blowing tons of money of preg. test! I could have probably bought designer shoes by now with all that moolah!

@crimpgirl Sorry about your sister. She has no clue that trying to give you impossible "hope" right now is just hindering the healing process.  My mother, as much as I love her, frequently says "I know you are going to have a baby one day…I just know it!!" I have had to tell her over and over that "Mother, don't say that because it may not happen for me. I pray it doesn't, but it just may not ever happen."  Anyway, hang in there lady!  I know it's hard to cut her some slack during this difficult time but she obviously just doesn't get it and probably never will unless she has been there.

Sorry for AF. Hope temping brings you some sort of clarity this cycle.

@tashacn Hey lady! Welcome! So sorry for your loss. Yes, AF is unpredictable after a D&C. Mine came 30 days and 28 days , respectively after both procedures. I know I was fortunate. Hope she come soon so you can move on.  Also, my husband thinks this site is good for me, but also doesn't like the fact that it is yet another thing that keeps me looking at my phone or computer.

As for me, I am hopefully going to ovulate soon! I won't be using any OPKs this month per husbands request. He thinks it makes me crazy…which it might a little. So, I am just sticking to temping and looking for that ol' EWCM for now. I don't know how accurate my temps are since this is my first month. I haven't been temping at the same time every day because RE said as long as I get a minimum of 6 hours of sleep, the temp should not be that much different. My work schedule flips from night to day often and so I unfortunately have to keep it this way.

QOTW:  I want to accomplish forgiveness these next few months. I have been bottling up bitterness/anger/ jealousy towards some family members that hurt me and it has done nothing but hurt me more than it has hurt them. I'm going to go over their house, bring them a cake, and tell them i love them. Their pregnancy has been hard on me but I want to truly be happy for them. I can already tell that just planning this has made me happier and in a better place mentally.

Married since Dec 2010. TTC since Feb of 2014.

    **BFP#1 Feb 20th. EDD October 28th, 2014. MC March 20th (7.5 wks) D&C.

    **BFP #2 May 22nd. EDD Feb 8th, 2015.   MC  July 1st, 2014 (6.5 weeks) D&C

Heard both babies heartbeats @6w3d, 122bpm and 100bpm. Will never forget that sound!

  • @crimpgirl I hope your levels continue to decrease. Keep us updated.

@TashaCN I am sorry for your loss. Welcome. I have to close TB when my DH walks in. He gets mad at me saying that I should not be reading it. He seems to think I am dwelling on the loss.

    @rslh10 Thanks for the check-in.

afm Still feeling very new to this idea of TTC AL. I am waiting for AF to arrive and will have three cycles before trying again.

Can I ask a newbie question? I was talking to a close friend this weekend who has had a few mc's. I told her that I plan to go to my gp soon for testing. She recommended requesting every test to see what could have caused this. I know that just over a year ago this gp diagnosed me with deficiencies in B12 and D. At the time I was just a hair above anemic. With daily supplements, my level was farther above anemic and more safe/healthy. What should I ask for and how to say it?

QOTW: I hope that DH and I get some work done on the house. We have ripped up our carpeting. Our next step is to repaint the walls. Then we are going to put in new floors- probably wood.

@rslh10 - Thanks for the check in! How are you doing? I'm sorry, I can't remember, are you TTC this cycle or did you say you decided to hold off til January now?

@negritosmami - I hope you have the willpower to stick to your plan of only two tests! Better yet, I hope you don't need more than one test! FX for you! I too would love to lose 20 lbs before the end of the year if I'm not pg before then.

@crimpgirl - I hope your blood test goes well and that you don't need a D&C. I know how frustrating that wait to TTC again can be. Thinking of you! Keep us updated! Also, I'm sorry you are having a hard time with your sister. I agree with what @rslh10 said, sometimes people just don't know what to say and they just say the exact wrong things!

@PowerofBacon - Sorry that AF showed and ever more sorry she showed when you had company! Good luck with temping this cycle. It seems to have brought me some sanity because I feel like I have some sense of what's going on, but this is our first TTC cycle since I started temping, so it may bring the crazy in my TWW.

@TashaCN - Welcome. I understand how you feel about waiting for AF. Mine came 31 days after my D&C and it was an excruciating wait. I know a lot of laides wait a lot longer, so I felt lucky to get it so quick but waiting sucked! As for getting support on TB, I think my husband is glad I have found this place even though I don't think he really understand. And he laughs seeing everyone's siggy pics when he walks by the comp when I'm on here.

ETA: QOTW - I really want to run a 5K! I just started running so I have a little ways to go before I am at that level, but I want to do it next Spring!

@LDubHawksFan - I know I said this already in our other check-in, but I have FX for you.

@hullabalou - Welcome. I'm glad you're keeping calm about TTC. Sounds like a great way to be. Wish I could be more calm!

@mkfish31 - Hope O comes soon for you. I kind of get where your H is coming from. I think the OPKs might put a lot of pressure on the Hs. I am also kind of worried about how MH will react to that this cycle.

@Pickles4Prez - I just had to google HSG to find out what it is. Sounds like it may give you some good info, sorry that it is painful. FX it tells you something useful.

@flyoffeve - I hope AF arrives soon. I know waiting is so hard. As for your question, I would be honest with your doctor about your concerns and see what he/she recommends. Unfortunately, they are often not able to really explain what caused a loss, especially if they did not do any tests on the fetus. I had a full blood panel done after my loss for totally unrelated reasons (I have had vitamin deficiencies in the past) and was so hoping it would give me some explanation, but everything came back normal. But again, I would suggest you just discuss your history and concerns openly with the doc and follow his/her advice.

AFM, I'm doing good this week! AF ended yesterday so now I am just waiting to O and then hopefully get some good timing in for BD. MH and I work opposite schedules so it could be tricky for us. This will be our first time TTC using OPKs and charting, so hopefully it doesn't put too much pressure on MH and kill the mood. I'm so excited but also so nervous! Hugs to all of you ladies!

  • Hi Ladies!

I'm brand new to this board. I'm still in the process of my miscarriage but I'm so thankful to have this board full of supportive ladies.
  •  I have a HSG scheduled on Thursday. Nervous for the pain but hopeful. Googling experiences has been a mixed bag.
Take advil before you go and bring a pad with you.  That's my advice.
  • @ctk181 oh i WILL stick to the two test plan...last cycle..testing four days in a row(more than once a day)...the AMOUNT of rejection i experienced was devastating. from here on out i plan to limit my rejection to ONE BFN or CD1!!! and i know what you mean about being nervous using opk's and waiting for O. Just give him a heads up a few days before and then try ur best to focus on bein sexy and not BSC lol i tried my best to do that..its HARD to hide the crazy u feel during that time though lol but you can do it girl!!

  • I've been better. I am having some digestive issues, mainly constipation with some minor pain but the doc thinks it is just trapped gas. So I'm taking fiber supplements and they did a blood draw to check thyroid just to make sure it's not causing me issues.

Started charting again and ordered Wondfos, but I'm not really in the mood because of my stupid digestion. We booked a trip to Vegas for next week, hoping everything clears up by then so we can just relax and enjoy ourselves.

QOTW - We are working on sorting through all our boxes from moving into our house (over a year ago!) and some minor updates to the house.
  • Hi guys, I've just noticed this checkin. I've almost finished my first af since my last miscarriage 6 weeks ago. We will be waiting a couple more cycles before we try again with the RE. In the meantime I'm just concentrating on staying healthy physically and mentally.

Hi, Welcome to the board. I am so sorry for your loss. I know that post loss cycles can be unpredictable or could go right back to your normal. The waiting is the hardest part. So ((hugs)) while you wait! As for your H's feelings about you getting support here, I was in that boat when I first joined. I don't know if he felt that I was sharing personal information with strangers or what, but this place helped me ( and still does, every single day) to cope with my loss, and now it's helping me cope with my infertility. My H sees that, and sees all the love that I get here from the people who get me, and he is now a better sport about it. I think once your husband sees the support and advice etc etc you will receive here, he will feel differently. I hope, anyway, because this is the greatest place that no one wants to be.

  • Hi there @rslh10‌! Thanks for the checkin! I'm doing ok. I was going to test today, but my temp was lower, so I didn't bother. I all of a sudden feel deflated and that we are probably out. I know it's only 12 dpo, but still. I guess if my temps are still higher and AF isn't here on Friday (or the telltale signs), I might test. Dollar tree was out of tests yesterday, otherwise I probably would have anyway. QOTW: I really want to get into a workout habit. I woke up with DH at 6 this morning to work out whole he walked the dog, so it's a start!
Sorry for the temp dip, but I will keep my FX for you! Also, damn dollar tree!!! They need to keep those suckers in stock. Don't they know there is a world of ttc'ers out there who need those! :D

  • Hello all, I haven't checked in here before, but I miss being a regular poster on a bump board.
Welcome to the check in. I'm glad you're calm during the tww! That makes things a little easier. I'm always BSC when I'm in mine ;)

My H said OPKS make me crazy too, so I get that. I hope the temping really helps you this month! I also think your QOTW is great. I'm so glad you're feeling strong enough to forgive this person. I hope everything turns out well when you go over to their home. Good luck, and I will be chart stalking you! :D

I have a HSG scheduled on Thursday. Nervous for the pain but hopeful. Googling experiences has been a mixed bag. Edit: doh! I always miss the QOTW. Continuing to improve my skating skills. Roller derby has become such a fantastic source of therapy, and I'm considering joining a home team and trying out for their travel team. Do I join and risk having to step down because I get KU (and then everyone knows my business) or do I continue doing rec league even though it's below my personal skill level (but if I get KU, it wouldn't be as noticeable if I stop hitting drills, ect)?
I hope your HSG goes well! I have heard from very reliable sources (haha!)  it's not nearly as painful as you build it up to be in your mind :)  Googling is always a mixed bag.I have a love hate relationship with Google for this very reason! I think roller derby sounds awesome. I would say, if you don't really care that people know your business, get in there and do your thing with the home/traveling team! Why not! Balls to the wall, lady!! Good luck with whatever you decide ;)

afm Still feeling very new to this idea of TTC AL.

Have you been seen by an RE? I'm just going to assume no because this is your second loss, and most don't take you until you've suffered 3, or have an infertility diagnosis of some sort. I feel that I need to page @petrastonegirl here to answer your question more thoroughly. (Petra- I'm paging you because I feel like you always give amazing advice and really explain things well!

I'm holding off until January! I have an RE appt tomorrow so we'll see how that goes.

I'm glad that AF is gone! I hope you have great timing this cycle. I can't wait to see how opks and charting go for you. I will be stalking you, for sure :)

FX your bw comes back normal. Enjoy your trip to vegas! :)

Welcome to the check in! I think focusing on you during your cycles off is a great idea :) Good Luck!

  • @negritosmami‌ - you are too funny! Good for you though. I like your plan! I think one BFN or CD1 is a great idea and saves you some of the mental anguish of repeated BFNs! I hope I can not go crazy testing this cycle. I have given H the heads up that it is go time this weekend. My plan is to try EOD for one week starting on Sunday and hope we hit my O date in there. I hope he is ready and that I can keep the crazy in check. FX!!

  • @rslh10‌ thanks for the check in. I'm still hanging in there. No sign of AF but my beta was 221 yesterday so I guess I've still got some waiting to do. On a TMI note I'm almost to the two week past miscarriage mark and ready for things to get back to normal between DH and I. I had a rough day today. My friend who is due any day now came over to talk. I want to be excited for her but the timing is tough. The whole day was tough. QOTW: I sort of fell apart these last two weeks. So the rest of 2014, I want to get back into my running routine and back to cooking. I usually love trying new recipes and finding healthy alternatives. I want to be there to support and congratulate my friend even if it's hard on me. I also want to pass all of my boards! Three down, one to go.

@rslh10 Right, no RE visits. My OB said to wait to see if I had one more mc to go further. That is harsh, but I understand if it needs to come to waiting to see what happens next time. On the other hand, if there is something more I can do for supplements now is the time imo.

  • Thank you for posting this check in.

I know I have been absent on this board since my intro. We just had our exam week, and it was intimidating to get through my first final exam in medical school, plus a lab practical and a unit exam, all in the span of four days! But I passed my first course so it's definitely given me a confidence boost!

This is cycle three for us, last cycle I didn't get an LH surge (I'm sure my exams coming up had NOTHING to do with that...) so I'm really hoping my crazy cycle gets itself in order! Other than that just really a mess emotionally. I think the craziness of exams has finally caught up to me.

  • @nikiswimr you also run? Maybe we should be sisfers I am a runner too. I've ran several halves and was even supposed to run one last weekend but couldn't because all the pregnancy hormones left me so winded. I think my next goal will get back to running my long distances. I ran five miles yesterday, so so very slowly but I did it and it was the first time in over a month so I mark it as an accomplishment! My body disagrees
  • @breaker0506‌ you are in your first semester of med school? My husband is in his third. I can't speak from"first hand experience" but being with him through it I know how awful and stressful it is. I admire all of you who tackle it!
  • @rslh10 thank you for the check in :-) things have been not good. I was in a very dark place last night and cried and cried. I took the misoprostol on Tuesday, but so far just like a regular period, not even a heavy one. No tissue and it's been 48 hours. I have some minor cramping, but it's barely there. I'm pissed because I should have just done the stupid D&C this week and been done with its. Now I have to wait until next week, which adds a week to whatever wait they assign to me. Pissed.

I also have my RE appointment on Wenesday, but I'm pretty sure I need to reschedule since this is still not resolved. Double pissed.

I felt better today, actually did some things, walked the dog AND took her to the dog park, I cleaned the house a little and made dinner for the husband. All in all a successful day considering I haven't wanted to clean anything or do anything except lay on the couch for the past week.

Thinking of everyone here as well, forgive me for the time being while I'm in my angry hole, I really appreciate the check in!

Congrats on med school! That's great but it sounds busy. FX your cycle was just wonky last time :)

I am so sorry you're in a dark place. I know I can relate, as can a lot of us. I have my FX that your body gets its stuff together and passes tissue and you don't need more meds or a d&c.

If I was you I would call the RE and ask if you need to reschedule. Maybe he will still see you for a consultation that way you can get in, get your medical history over there and get the ball rolling?

I'm glad to hear you got out and walked the dog. Sometimes the littlest things make a the difference. One day at a time :) I have my fx that your able to start feeling better very soon ((hugs))
