This pregnancy has been one surprise after another! Last night my water broke. My hospital has a new policy that it can't deliver babies under 36 weeks so they examined me and ultimately decided to transfer me to a bigger center with a NICU. I've gotten steroid injections to speed up lung development and IV antibiotics to help baby cook a little longer. They're hoping we can get to 34 weeks (about 10 days) but they reckon s/he'll be here within the next few.
Prayers are much appreciated! I'm completely in shock. This pregnancy has been so uneventful that I never expected to go so early. Not to mention that DH is having surgery next week... Busiest week of our lives!! I should probably figure out a name....
** UPDATE: So yesterday was going well- very few contractions and not much leaking. I kept a log of my contractions all day and at 5:00 they were 6 mins apart for over an hour. The docs hooked me up to a fetal monitor to confirm them and the cervical check showed I was still at 1cm. However, they were still 6 mins apart for such a long time that they send me to L&D to monitor. When we got down to L&D at 6:30pm, my contractions immediately picked up. I went from 6mins apart to about 2 mins and VERY intense out of nowhere. When I arrived, I was 1cm and was at 9cm in under an hour. I asked for drugs and they said it was too late bc of how fast I was progressing. Meanwhile, DH was still driving to the hospital. He walked in (right at the business end) just in time for the last few pushes. LO arrived at 7:38pm, 4lbs 5oz and 16 3/4in long. He came out with his hand by his head so I had a 2nd degree tear but I didn't even notice... Too much going on. I only got to hold him for a few seconds before he was whisked away to NICU but I visited later and he looks great. Docs see no obvious reasons why he was early. He won't be home for a couple of weeks while he cooks at the hospital a little longer.
Thank you so much for the T&Ps! It felt so amazing to have such a support system.
**Update 2: His name is Isaac Andrew. I got to hold him skin to skin for an hour today

Also, my butthole feels like it was punched repeatedly.
