Our girl name is Agatha Laurel or Agatha Violet. Boy name hasn't been as easy to agree upon. I always wanted an Aden after my grandfather, but I don't want to add to the Haden, Jaden, Braden, Caden crowd. Have even heard a couple Raidens and Zaydens recently. Urgh.
I grew up with a friend named Jaden (girl). She was named after a soap opera character named Jade and mother added the n. She always got so many compliments on her name so my sister named her daughter that 13 years ago. I was mind blown to see Jaden on the top ten boys names when I was pregnant with DD! Such a bummer that it's no longer unique!
Oh names....a tough topic in our house. DS1 is Dean Samuel. DS2 is Hudson Jay (both middle names are my/DH's dad's)
I like:
Girl- (Grace was my grandmother who passed away last year, Lena is my other grandma's name) Callie Grace Lena Grace Elsa Lena (Elsa was my #1 girls name since I first got pregnant in 2010- then Frozen came out and now I feel like I can't use it!) Ellis Grace Maggie Grace
Boy- Bennett And that's all I got for boys....
DS1 born 4/17/11 DS2 born 2/22/13 MMC 5/16/14@8w2d DD due 5/9/15 Please be ourRAINBOW
Top girl name is Freya Imogen. It used to be Beatrix Imogen, but DH objected. Imogen is my grandmother's first name. DD is Iris Wilhelmina. Wilhelmina was my other grandmother's name
Boy will possibly be Gideon Benjamin.
All of my kid's first names are mythological/legendary.
You have some badass family names, my friend. I would love a Wilhelmina or Imogen in my tree.
Whenever I hear the name Ashley for a boy I can't help but think of "Gone with the Wind". Oh Ashley!!!!
I have an Ashton, he was called Ashley quite a few times as a baby because people didn't understand that name. Thankfully Ashton Kutcher became famous and now people understand it.
I really like to imitate Vivien Leigh saying "Ashley..." in that breathy drawl.
We have had our boys name picked practically since day 1. He will be named after DH...
Edward William (he will also be the fourth")
For a girl we are stumped, we have our 2 favorite girls names- Emily and Abigail. So we have by trying to figure out something that flows nice with those names.
I love the name Charlotte but my BIL recently named a dog that name so that would be weird. Lol.
My list for girls names is Alice, Harper, Olivia and Avery. Middle name would be Anna after my Grandmother.
DH likes Ashley and Eleanore

It got very popular very quickly. Henry is DH's grandfather and Lloyd is my father. Martin is my grandfather and Scott is DH's father. Leona is after my great grandmother and Mae is a family tradition. It's my middle name.
DH's family doesn't care for Leona. MIL said a DD better be pretty with a name like Leona. It hurt because I love my grandma and I think it's pretty. We paid homage to his family with DS leave me alone.
We found girls names really easy and agreed on Poppy May (May is the middle name of a grandmother of both sides of the family). Boy names were much harder. DH has 'rules' he wants first names that have more than one syllable and that can be shortened. They also can start with an H because of surname. So far we like Sebastian, Zachary and Oliver for first names and either James or John for the middle names (again both middle names are family names)
Me too. That's one of the reasons why I love it so much.
I love everything about Gone with the Wind. We actually named our second girl that we lost last year Scarlet.
I also had 2 dachshunds years ago named Mammy and Prissy. They were Chocolate and Black and Tan.
We are very much into family names as well, especially for middle names. Hunter's middle name comes from my husband's grandfather's middle name.
If it's a boy, his middle name will be James, after my brother Andrew James. So far we have:
Alexander James
Xavier James
Zachary James (the hubs is still iffy on this name)
Girls.. we are all over the place. I would love love love to name to honor my grandmother Elsie Mae somehow. We would also like to try to include Diane, after my husband's aunt who passed about 10 years ago. We originally wanted Harper, my other grandmother's last name, but that is off the table because it's so stinkin popular now.
I FUCKING love Imogen. Such a gorgeous name. However, it would sound horrendous with our last name.
I love Gideon too. It was my grandfather's name, but again, it would sound awful with our last name.
We are all over the place with names. We are trying to use family names and original names.
Girl:
Ryan Ruby Mae (with or without the Ruby. And go ahead and flame away about using Ryan for a girl, we love it. )
Sienna Mabel
Lillian Marie
Boy:
Jacob Cruz
Lucas Edward
Our list keeps changing the more we talk about them.
I was friends with twins named Lucas and Edward in college--they're great names together. I especially love Edward, but dated (a different!) one in college, so that's a no go.
We haven't completely decided, but are leaning toward girl: Gwendolyn (my mom's name) Grace, NN Wendy and boy: Henry Atticus or Henry Solomon (my grandfather's MN).
I love so many of y'all's names! I avoided this thread for a long time out of fear, but I'm glad I finally took the plunge
Girls: Amy, Megan, or Lauren (MN for all would be Elizabeth)
I 100% approve... as this is my name
@Onceinlovewithamy I've had this name picked out since the TV show Everwood several years ago. DH loves it too, so right now, it's our first choice for a girl. But we're more comfortable having a few more on the name list, just in case.
Anyone else a fan of the show? I think it was on between 2003-2006. LOVED it.
@bearvg, I want to like Dutch names because DH is 100%, and I think it would be a cool way to honor his family. But, I haven't found any that I like. Care to share some of your favs?
DH is only 2nd gen Dutch. His grandpa, great uncles and uncles all rotate names. Henry, Benjamin, Donald, Arne, Richard, Abram.
Our community is very Dutch. Some of the family names and older women I know have names like Reka, Rebecca, Gerda, Marion, and Alberdina.
So I was lurking on the baby names board and people seem to hate the name Jace! I've learned that apparently it's the name of a kid on Teen Mom (which i've never watched before) and I also know it's the name of the guy on Duck Dynasty (which i've also never watched).
Besides those two things and the fact that it sounds like a nn of Jason I don't understand what people find so wrong with it. I think i've come across maybe only 3 people with that name, it's not common here at all.
I'm actually surprised people hate it so much, and a little bummed because it's my top boy name at the moment. Can someone enlighten me as to why it's so disliked?
carriet2018 said: all i think of is Janelle from 16 and pregnant she named her son this....her second son kaiser...if that tells you anything. Janelle is a total fuck up and on drugs and crazy and nuts. so it just has left a bad taste in my mouth. but that being said if that is the name you want go for it, 10 years from now ppl probably wont associate it with teen mom.
Ugh! I hate when people ruin perfectly good names!
But I don't want to automatically rule out a name I love just because some fuck up from a show i've never watched named her kid that.
DS is Henry Lloyd
Brother would be Martin Scott
Sister would be Leona Mae
My DS is Henry James! Love a Henry.
Yep, I've kind of been disappointed in how popular it has gotten. We named DS after my grandfather and DH's grandfather (both Henrys) and my mother's maiden name, brother's middle name, and my favorite uncle (James).
We're doing Luna Harper for a girl and Brody Wade, I think, for a boy. H isn't sold on Wade. I'm hoping for a girl, girl names are easier right now lol
There were a lot of names that I really liked, while going through this post. I like the older names like Eleanor, Ruby, Mallory, Beatrix and William. I have always wanted my children to have names that are different, not one where they know another five of them. DH and myself are Jacob & Jessica, so we have well-used names. I wish our families had more interesting names, but that is not reality. Jeff, Debra, Mary, Harvey, Raymond, Dorothy, Brian & Erica. I can't even really play with the names. I like Olive, but a friend used Olivia. I also really like Winter. So pretty! So our favorites as of now: Boys: Dean Jameson Troy Jameson Nixon Stone Girls: Emerson Lana Lana Sterling ("Lah-nah") Karolina("Karo-lena")Sterling
I think I'm set on Olivia or Naima for a girl and idk....Malik for a boy? Boy names are so hard. Maybe Elijah? Good thing I have so much time to think it over lol.
If it's a girl (which DH SWEARS it's not) she will be Lila (pronounced Lie-luh) Raine. DH always liked the name Raine, so I agreed on it for a middle name
We're struggling with boys names. I adore Riley James, and I especially like that Riley is a unisex name just like our DS's name, Rowan. However, DH refuses refuses refuses so I'm kind of at a loss. He really likes Gavin, I don't hate it but I don't love it either. Boys names have always been so hard for me.
We decided long before I was ever pregnant. If it's a girl Parker Leigh and if it's a boy Duncan Jamal. Leigh is a family name on my moms side and Jamal is my husband's middle name. I personally now like Isaiah for a middle name. I had a dream the night before I found out I was pregnant and had a dream of having a baby boy and naming him Isaiah. Which means from the Lord. So to me that's perfect. We will see if we end up using.
I'm late to this game, but I am loving te style on this board!!
Our boy name is August Elliot or Felix Elliot
Girls are so much harder. We like Penelope, Hazel, Kate, and Eleanor
My favorite girl name is a Yiddish name; Baila (pronounced Bay-lah). I'm just afraid of her always having to correct people on the pronunciation. I really don't want to use Bayla/Beyla because to me that looks like a made up name.

It's pretty common in my area.
I dislike it because it sounds incomplete, made up, and really trendy. It just doesn't "look" good on a professional, adult man. If you love it, name him Jason so he will have a mature name, and use Jace as a nickname.
Our names are fairly trendy and somewhat made up but we love them And my husband is very hardcore about naming your kid what they will be called...I have a common name that has several common nicknames and it didn't bother me but it was important to him so we went with it.
DD1 is Carsyn Marie - Carsyn is a boy's name (Carson...specifically relating to Carson Palmer the NFL quarterback) that we made feminine because we literally couldn't agree on a single other name for a girl at that time...we liked Bailey and Brooklyn but our last name starts with a J and DH refused to give our daughter "bj" initials so Carsyn was all that was left. Also Marie is my mn and my mom's mn.
DD2 is Zoey Grace - again only girl name we could agree on....came from my husband's love of Zooey Deschanel.
If this baby is a girl I have no idea what we'll go with...it might turn into a big battle...oy. If this baby is a boy he'll be Dalton William (yes Dalton as in Andy Dalton another NFL quarterback - it was suggested as a joke but we really like it and it sounds great with our last name). William is my husband's middle name as well as FIL's mn, my grandfather's first name and my cousin who passed away at 18's first name.
Also, it wasn't why we chose the names but worked out cool...Carson/Carsyn means Christian and Zoey means Life
We're doing Luna Harper for a girl and Brody Wade, I think, for a boy. H isn't sold on Wade. I'm hoping for a girl, girl names are easier right now lol
Wade is my DH's middle name and I love it! I think it's so unique yet simple.
Re: Who's already thinking about names or has finalists? I'm obsessed...
Instead we are going with
Alice Snow (nn Ali)
Xavier Mack
Mack is a family name on DH side.
I grew up with a friend named Jaden (girl). She was named after a soap opera character named Jade and mother added the n. She always got so many compliments on her name so my sister named her daughter that 13 years ago. I was mind blown to see Jaden on the top ten boys names when I was pregnant with DD! Lena Grace
Elsa Lena (Elsa was my #1 girls name since I first got pregnant in 2010- then Frozen came out and now I feel like I can't use it!)
Ellis Grace
Maggie Grace
Boy-
Bennett
And that's all I got for boys....
