I pulled out the plastic storage bin of my maternity clothes from the basement and stuck it in my closet. I don't feel like doing the work to clear out space to properly hang or arrange them in drawers, and then re-packing them post-partum.
I'm curious to hear what others are doing. Did you clear out a drawer for your maternity clothes? Integrate them into your "normal" clothes? Keep them separate?

I have the bins out, I'm in the process of switching it all out. I like having my options in front of me, plus grabbing bras that don't fit anymore was annoying!
I pulled out my maternity stuff at the same time that I packed away my summer clothes, so I put my maternity stuff in my drawers/closet, and only unpacked regular fall/winter clothes that I would actually be able to wear this year.
What?!?!?! You people are just starting to wear maternity clothes?!?! I'm all in a panic about the weight I've gained and the size of my bump. I need to start a new post right NOW!
Sorry, had to get the snark outta my system.
Making the switch to maternity clothes has actually helped me purge a lot of stuff from my closet. I decided that if it hasn't been worn in two years than it needs to go.
I've done the same thing actually. The amount of ratty tank tops I purged was legit. And the thought of storing some of these summer clothes until possibly summer 2016 was just too much for me. So much got donated.
I took all my pre-pregnancy clothes out, and sorted it into things that will fit me after the baby is born and things that will only make me cry if I attempt to put them on and put them in totes. I then put all my maternity clothes in the dresser and the closet. I did get rid of a lot clothes that i know I will never wear again. So I guess transferring the clothes sort of helped me de-clutter.
I keep them separate. I have them folded in a bin and when I needed them, I just go to the bin. It works for me. I had them mixed when I was pregnant with DS, but I am so glad I am doing it this way now. The sorting and packing was not fun last time.

I sorted out my summer clothes and other things I knew wouldn't fit me during the pregnancy and packed those away. My closet is small to begin with so there's no way I can cram everything in, I always do seasonal rotations. And hell no to living out of bins/boxes.
I ran out of room in my closet and couldn't stand digging through bins. So I put my prebaby clothes in a box in the basement and hung/put away my maternity clothes. Makes life easier for me.
I have a box in our bedroom and stuff gets hung up as I wear it. This time, I'm pregnant in a completely different season so it's really limiting what I have to wear from the last one.
I couldn't do bins and boxes for months on end. I'm the type that unpacks my suitcase at a hotel if I'll be there longer than a day or two.
I used the pregnancy as an excuse to go through my clothes and donate the clothes I've out grown, worn out, dislike, etc. After I did that there was enough room to add my maternity stuff in. Some of it is hanging in a certain spot in my closet and some is in a special drawer in my dresser. Having it all mixed in would probably drive me crazy. I think I'm a bit OCD about some things.

Me too! A lot of people thought that was too early for a ftm, but my clothes didn't fit anymore!
I swap them out. And actually I have about 3 wardrobes...my normal clothes, what I wear when I start getting a little bigger, then my maternity clothes. Then I go back down. It's nice to have some "real" jeans to pull out sooner post partum.
You girls may hate me for this soo... Sorry in advance.
I lost 30 pounds the first tri due to nausea and vomiting. My regular clothes still are too big for me. I wear the tops but I had to buy mat jeans so I would have pants that fit. So I really don't have anything other than two pairs of jeans which I trade out/ wash a ton. That being said, they obviously just fit in with my regular clothes.
I just away everything that quit fitting into a tote and replaced all of that space with the maternity clothes.

We have such a small closet that I only have in there what I can currently wear, be it maternity or seasonal, i am always switching out containers. Everything else is stored in plastic containers in the basement.
I managed to pull my regular pants out of my closet and replace them with maternity. I put them in a bag and in storage. My shirts are all mixed in, with lots still in a bag at the bottom of my closet. I don't have enough room to hang all the clothes and am too lazy to take out my regular shirts that don't fit. I am half way living out of a bag. Sigh! I keep meaning to fix it.

death stare! grrrr
just teasing. sorry you had such a hard time first tri!
I live in LA, there is no switching out of summer/winter clothes :P I unpacked my maternity clothes and filled the bin up with smaller pre-pregnancy clothes to make room (kept things that are a little looser out since I could wear them longer and will be able to wear them post-partum until I'm back to pre-pregnancy size).
We go together like a wink and a smile. June 27, 2009
Just last week I was getting frustrated putting away laundry so I did a DEEP overhaul organization mission into my closet and dresser. I discovered I had three size ranges of clothes PLUS my maternity clothes.
I organized everything by size / type of clothing and boxed EVERYTHING but my clothes I can currently wear and feel good in. They are stacked in my closet, so it doesn't save SPACE, but it saved my OCD tendencies from going crazy.
Plus looking at my smaller sized clothes while struggling with being bigger + being pregnant was just NOT good for my eating disorder recovery mind.
Can anyone give any help on where to get reasonable mat clothes other than thrift stores ( they make me itch) so far all my normal clothes fit still but I feel the change over will come soon
FTM here but I have a pretty big walk in closet so I have all my maternity shirts hanging in one area all by themselves. I haven't bought any pants yet but they will probably just go in the drawer with my other pants! I'm getting away with just leggings right now!
I don't have that many maternity clothes--I am on about a ten day rotation, with three pairs of pants, five shirts, and about four dresses. So....my clothes pretty much just fit into my closet with my others!!
Probably not a super helpful response, I just realized. :-/
I I a big closet pre move but I kept forgetting what fit and what didn't which made getting ready take forever. I bought bins and as things stopped fitting put them away so I didn't have to look at them. Also made moving so much easier! I only have about a 7 day work cloths rotation so closet is pretty empty now.
Am I the only one who doesn't switch out summer and winter clothes? They just all hang out in my closet and half doesn't get worn for half the year.
I didn't when I had a walk in closet and a great big room--Now I have a tiny room/tiny closet so I wouldn't be able to fit all my clothes in there. H uses the spare room closet, I use the bedroom AND I have hanging racks in the basement, I am not even a big clothes person!
I pulled out the bin from last time, and the stuff I have worn has been put away in my closet. The dresses and sweaters that I have yet to wear are still sitting in the bin in the bedroom, annoying my husband. I guess I'll hang those up soon and put the bin away. Last time I sorted all my tank tops, t-shirts, and sweaters and boxed up stuff that won't fit, but I'm lazy this time and just pushed them aside in the closet. I like that my walk-in closet has enough room for laziness.
I did clear out my jeans and bras that I won't be able to wear until probably a year from now and put those in drawers under the bed. (last time it took me about 6 months to lose the weight, and 9 months to fit back into my "normal" jeans)
