Shelby Thomas was born on September 8 at 3:58 pm in the comforts of our home. He was 6lb 7oz and 19" long at 36 weeks 2 days gestation. I had a little bit of bleeding the night before, and I sent my midwife a text but we thought it was just a little bit of dilation. I woke up to discomfort but I thought it was false labor. It wasn't until my midwife made it to our home and told me I was 7cm dialated did I know that I was in labor. We made the choice to stay at home rather than go to the hospital after talking to our midwife. After 15 minutes of pushing our little rainbow baby was born healthy and wonderful!
Miss Nadia Claire was born on 10/1 at 5:05pm, 8lbs 5oz and 21" long. I went into labor at 39wks 2d. This is our first child and we couldn't be more in love!
Went into the hospital to be induced Thursday night at 41 weeks. Was so busy took over an hour to get a room. Finally got a room and an iv after 2 tries. At about 10pm the dr put in cervidil but when she did she wasnt so sure the head was down. Ultrasound confirmed she had turned breech at some point. dr tried ti manually move her with no luck. Allie Grace Katharine was birn via c-section at 11:35 am on October 10. She is so cute byt i am sore was not expecting my third labor to g quite like this.
Our first child, Ethan Michael, was born 10/02/14 at 4:36pm at 38 weeks 7lbs 8ozs 19 1/4" via scheduled c-section due to transverse lie. Upon completion of my c-section my dr. informed me that I had a large fibroid blocking baby's exit that they never saw on my U/S's so this is most likely why baby never turned head down. So it's a good thing they went with the scheduled c-section because had I gone in to labor, it would have turned in to an emergency c-section because there was no way for him to get out. After some nursing/milk coming in issues during 3 night hospital stay baby Ethan had lost 13% of his birth weight and we were released to go home on 10/5 with formula supplementation (FINALLY! after he went 3 days with very, VERY little colostrum being fed and the hospital refusing to let me supplement him with formula) and him down a whole 1lb (6lbs 8ozs). I took him to see his pediatrician the next morning and after 24hrs of formula supplementation had gained 5ozs back. Other than this, his pediatrician says he is perfectly fine and healthy. We went back to pedi 3 days later and he had gained another 3ozs. I do have some milk coming in now that I am pumping and mixing with his formula. We go back for our 2 week appt on Thursday and hopefully he should be back up to his birth weight by this point. We are so in love with our baby boy and cannot imagine him not being here with us now.
Ayden Thomas was born on Oct 4th at 10:50am via unplanned c-section. My water broke on Friday 10/3 at 5am and so DH and I didn't go to work that day - instead, we spent the next 29 hours at the hospital waiting for baby to arrive! I was induced at 11am and received epidural at 11pm. By the 30th hour of labor, on-call Dr. said it was time for baby to come out....I was stuck at 9cm and my cervix wasn't low enough for me to push.
DH and I are so happy he is finally here!! He was 8 lbs 8.5 oz and 21" long!
Caroline Piper was born at 7:25pm on October 11, 2014. She weighed 7 lb 14 oz, 19.5 inches long. DH, myself, and our families couldn't be any more blessed or thrilled.
Corinne Helena arrived on 10/07/14 at 5:54 am after almost 13 hours of labor after my water broke at home. She weighed 7 pounds and 3 ounces and was 20 inches long.
Ella Elizabeth was born on 10-12-14 at 9:46pm weighing 6 pounds, 9 ounces and 19 inches long. She is the cutest thing Ive ever seen!
Woke up Sunday morning at 10am, rolled out of bed and then my water broke! Had to go straight to the hospital since I was GBS positive. We were admitted to our room around 11:30am. Still had yet to feel a contraction so they started me on pitocin. Around 5pm I was dilated to a 2 and decided to get an epidural because I was so tensed up during the contractions and yep they do hurt! Around 6pm I was dilated to a 5 and feeling dam good and relaxed. At 9pm I swore I was feeling the urge to push and that baby was gonna fall outta me so I called the nurse in to check me. Im pretty sure she thought I was crazy for thinking it was time. They kept saying how its my first baby and its gonna take several, several hours, etc etc... Well I was right dammit. . 10cm and ready to go!! My Doc arrived at 9:30 and baby was born at 9:46 after 18 pushes.
Wouldnt have had it any other way! Love my baby girl so much!!
Aram Robert had arrived 10/14 at 2:09 am. We arrived at the hospital at 11 on 10/13 because my water had broke and 15 short hours later I was holding this precious pumpkin:
Silas Lee born on 10/8/14 at 10:38pm @ 6.3 lbs and 17.5in. Kane Tiberius born on 10/8/14 at 10:56pm @ 5.3lbs and 17in. This birth was almost perfect, which I think has helped me come to terms with my bad first birth experience. I'll add link to story when its up.
Congrats to all the ladies above me and good luck to all the ladies that will be below me!
Solomon Bradley was born Sunday, October 12 at 1:51 PM. He weighed 8lb 5.4oz at 21.75 inches long. I love his birth date because 10-12-14 are consecutive even numbers. 13 hours of labor and fewer than 20 minutes worth of pushing. Recovery has been awesome, and we are all just enamored with him.
Carter Judson was due October 23rd but decided to join us on September 11th. After 11 hrs of labor he was born in a rush after his heart decels became to critical. With a vacuum and two pushes we welcomed out precious lil guy into the world at 5lbs 9oz an 17" long. The. We welcomed him home on September 21st.
Baby M was born at 1:30 am today, October 16 by unscheduled c-section. I was induced beginning on October 12 at 38 weeks 2 days and began to go into labor early the next day. I labored without pain meds other than Nubian for rest for over 60 hours. After baby got stuck after 2 hours and 45 minutes of pushing, we did an emergency c-section. We were able to stabilize my blood count just enough that I could get an epidural by that point.
Emeline Serena finally arrived on October 14 at 4:24pm 8lbs 5oz 21" via successful VBAC. About 8 hours of labor, maybe half hour of pushing. One day shy of having a foley bulb inserted. Cuttin it a bit close but she came on her own as I knew she would, yay
Daphne Kuena arrived 1/16/14 weighing 6lb 11oz 19'' of pure love. Was in labour for 32 hours and pushed for an hour. She has a full head of hair and we're absolutely in love.
The twins arrived via csection due to pre e issues on Sunday October 5! Alexandria Marie entered the world at 4:29pm, weighing 4lbs 15oz & 18.5" long! Andrew James arrived one minute later at 4:30pm weighing 5lbs 5 oz & 19.5" long! They are absolutely perfect & we are so in love!
I'm working on my birth story as it is quite traumatic & long due to complications. It has taken me sometime to come to terms with things, so I'm sorry I haven't been around lately! Also my recovery has been slow too but I am working on it & will get the story out very soon!
Yella726's Birth Story (Team Green) - Lucas Armando
Saturday October 11 was 2 days past my due date, so DH and I decided to drop by the vineyard (I work at a winery) to check out how harvest was going and then go for a hike that morning. Almost as soon as I started on the trail, I definitely felt some downward pressure as if gravity was starting to take effect.
The rest of the day was uneventful and we took advantage of doing stuff around the house (including making some yummy lasagna for dinner later that night).
But by 8 PM, I started having some uncomfortable (what I thought were) Braxton Hicks. Up until that point, I was getting Braxton Hicks pretty regularly, so this didn't phase me -- except for the fact that it was getting difficult to get comfortable. My doula was 1.5 hours away that weekend, but told me to call as soon as things started happening. After deciding to take a bath and (try to) relax, I decided to start timing things. They were already 3-4 minutes apart and lasting average 45 seconds each. I was expecting to have *some* back pain, but it was all in front which continued making me question things. After hemming and hawing for a while (I felt bad for waking her up since I just wasn't sure), I called our doula at 10PM. She told me (since I wasn't sure), to drink some water and lie down for an hour to see if they continued in intensity or died down. But before the hour was even up, I knew this was the real deal. I called her back and she said she'd hit the road immediately. Since we had decided in our birth plan to labor at home for as much as possible, I drew another bath and tried again to relax. The sensations began radiating into my back and, at a certain point, I told my husband to just text our doula and let her know to meet us at the hospital.
We arrived at the hospital just after 12AM and were wheeled directly into L&D. Things are a little hazy after this point; my husband tells me stories of things that happened that I just can't remember. We were going for a natural birth, and I was hooked up to a saline lock right away for antibiotics (Group B Strep Positive). Our doula arrived about half an hour after that and we immediately set up the birthing tub and I jumped in as soon as it was ready. After an hour or two, we decided to get me up and out and moving around and going to the bathroom. Over the course of the next -- ::counts on fingers:: -- 10 hours, I shifted from the yoga ball, the birthing tub, the toilet, the birthing stool, hands and knees and squatting. Each change of position was incredibly painful, so once I was IN a position, I was hellbent on staying there. Ultimately, I ended up on my back pushing with my legs against the squatting bar and pulling with my arms.
After a little over 2 hours of (incredibly vocal) pushing, an offer of an episiotomy from my midwife (which I turned down), and the most intense "ring of fire" sensations I have ever felt, Lucas Armando came into our lives at 12:56 PM, weighing in at 8 lbs, 8.5 oz and 21 inches long. I was relieved, in shock and so in love! My husband cut the cord (he swore up and down that he wouldn't be able to) and we had some serious skin-to-skin time (DH as well!). Our midwife told us that my pelvic floor muscles were so strong (uuhh, thanks yoga?) that it prolonged my labor and that if I had let her give me an episiotomy the baby would have been born 45 minutes earlier. That said, I had almost no tearing BUT I did bleed quite a lot so I was hooked up to an IV bag of Pitocin and given methergine (in pill form) to help stop bleeding, as well as a daily iron pill to combat my bleeding-induced anemia.
Team Green turned PINK on October 14th!! One day before her due date, and one day before her Grandpa's birthday! Little Miss Audrey Elaine was born at 9:38 pm weighing 6 pounds 7 ounces. She is a joy and I couldn't be happier to be her Mommy!!
Elise Kathleen joined us on October 17 @ 1:11pm via emergency c section. 7 lbs 12 oz, 21.5 inches long. The little stinker was frank breech, and we didn't know it until several hours into our induction. I will add a birth story soon. We are both doing great, and she is the sweetest little doll ever. So excited she is here now!
Tyler James was born October 7, 2014 @ 6:31 pm. 7 lbs, 11 oz., 20.5 inches. He gave us a scare by taking a full 5 minutes to come around and cry, but has been great ever since!
Riann Audrey was born 10-22-14 @4:04 pm induced at 9pm on 10-21-14, water was broken at 10am and delivered vaginally. She was 21 inches and 9lbs 12oz. Healthy, happy with a head full of hair.
Emma Margaret L born at 9:05 on Fri Oct 24 after an induction due to baby's uneven heart rate. Cervadil given at 2 am Thursday and 43 hrs later with 4+ hrs of pushing, Emma arrived! She was 8 lbs 8 oz 21 in long and I still can't believe she is really here!
