  • WTF do I tell the kid who wants to know how a baby got inside me? I don't know her parents. I don't want to get fired for being too honest.

    Ideas:
    -I swallowed baby seeds
-You're a muggle, you will never understand
-it's a magic trick grown ups can do
    -The stork put it there
-I asked Santa for a baby, but he put it inside me instead of under the tree

(Yes, I really told her one of the above.)

  • @Peledreamsofrain  Are you referring to the Pickle thread?

Sure am! It's like they are stuck in a daily meltdown.

  • @kellbell1982. My DD isn't autistic by must at 8 I let her look at the magazine you get that had the real images of pregnancy that u received from the hospital. She didn't ask how sperm got there I just answered any questions.

Part of me thinks maybe I should teach her about sex because it's a real fear of mine that someone could take advantage of her condition. I'd rather her hear it from me than a stranger. She mentioned tongue kissing so she must be seeing or hearing stuff somewhere

Since I don't know her parents, I went with "it's a trick grown up women can do. You will learn how to do it when you're grown up too."

Then she asked if it would hurt when the baby came out, and I said yes. She wanted to know if it would hurt a lot, and I said probably. That seemed to satisfy her, lol.

I knew all about gestation (though not the mechanics of sex) in preschool. You might show your daughter videos of fetal development, she may become more interested in what's happening and less curious about how it happened.

Eta - if she's showing interest in the mechanics of sex, I think there are a few age-appropriate books out there. I'm not one to withhold info from kids if it can be delivered appropriately. With autism, it really depends on her personality as far as what would be appropriate and how it would be best to deliver that info.
