My husband has a manual Subaru outback and I don't drive stick. It's the most annoying thing in the world to always have to take my civic if I'm going to be DD (and lately that's all the time). We know we will need more room with a LO so even though we don't want a car payment, we know it has to happen sooner than later and it might as well be before LO arrives.
My current Chevy Equinox is awesome and roomy, but it's a work vehicle and will probably be replaced by my employer next year (they switch them out every 3 years). I hope there's an SUV/crossover in the next group to choose from. Meanwhile, my Equinox and H's Jeep Liberty are perfect for us.

Yes, we upgraded to an SUV from a small sedan as we wouldnt be able to fit the baby and the dog in the car at the same time and we are a one car family. #firstworldproblems

We did with DD be ause we both drove old VWs. I drove a 1973 Super Beetle, and DH drove a 1972 Poptop Camper bus. Neither had a heater, and the bug coukdnt hold even the smallest of infant car seats. Haha! We didnt.upgrade this time because our Kia Soul is just fine for our family of four.
We have a full sized SUV with 3 rows, however it's a gas hog and I don't really need a Hemi v8 engine anymore (since we don't need to tow anything anymore).
We will be getting a minivan (I hope DH finally gives in) in May when they warranty is up on the SUV.

We already had one SUV when we got pregnant with DD, so we kept that one. DH bought a brand new mustang just before I got my BFP with her, which we still have. We plan to trade it in for a second SUV before this babe arrives, but have yet to do so. I suppose it doesn't HAVE to be done before she's here, but that's our goal.

We finally had to break down and get another car. My car was the same car I had in HS and it was on its last leg and wasn't very safe anymore. It was also a 2 door which was ok with one kid, but it was getting too hard to get DS in the back while pregnant. So we bought a Ford Fusion and we love it!
I had a Jeep Liberty for 11 years. With DS it was fine. When we found out we were expecting #2, we went out and got a newer Suburban. The Liberty couldn't fit 2 car seats in the back. LOVE our Suburban. Not loving having a car payment... but we had to upgrade and I refuse to drive a minivan. Annd the heated seats feel amazing on my back/sciatica right now!
We were not planning on it, but Hubbs was in a minor car accident and his 17 year old Honda was kind of smashed so we decided to start talking about getting another car. When we weighed our options and listed our needs, it turns out a minivan worked best for us. Two kids, two dogs, and a husband who enjoys woodworking means that the third row seats are often down to accommodate either the dogs or lumber from the home improvement store. And we can transport our family and the grandparents around if we want to take a big family trip. We took Nathan to the zoo in New Orleans last weekend and we all piled into the van - it was a super comfortable 3-hour drive and the gas mileage wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. We have already used it for lumber too and it works great. You can get an 8ft board into the thing with the seats down! So we are really happy with our Nissan Quest. Which I named The Millennium Falcon. I'm trying to find the perfect Star Wars family stickers to put on the back now.
We upgraded to third row since this will be number 4. We got an SUV because for some reason vans make my skin crawl. LOL I really dislike them. We even looked/ test drove a couple and I just couldnt make myself like it.
I bought the mom car (Subaru Forester) before we got pregnant with our first, and then when we talked about a second and realized with two dogs and all our stuff we didn't have enough room we bought a Honda Pilot about a year ago. Love my mom car now
Traded in my Civic for a Traverse during my first trimester. Hubs is 6'3" and we needed something big enough for a rear facing car seat. He drives an Outback and we also have a crew cab Silverado. Definitely comfort and safety over gas mileage for us!
We borrowed my bil's sedan, they have a rear facing car seat, and I couldn't even stand how cramped we were!
I bought a ford fiesta two years ago and loved the gas economy on it. While on a trip to visit friends we tried to put an infant seat in the back and we had to move our seats so far forward we could barely fit, let alone drive. When my DH and I found out we were expecting we agreed a new car was a necessity. I traded up my fiesta for a 2014 jeep Cherokee and I absolutely love everything about it!! *disclaimer DH would never allow a minivan in the family, I'm indifferent to them. My after had one for 18years and that's all I knew growing up.
No but we need to. There are not enough seats for all of us.... So a mini van is a requirement at this point. Just waiting for SO to get confirmation on a contract for work before we make that purchase. (Praying that happens soon...)
We did. Kinda had to. We had a small G6. This is baby #3. Soooo yeah, we went the minivan route Back in June my husband actually got into an accident so we figured it was time to just upgrade instead of paying to fix it and my brother took the car. I HATED minivans. Until i got one. Now i see the appeal

We are in the process. But not by choice...we have an escape and a Jeep Grand Cherokee all paid off and ready for LO. we were rear ended in a hit and run a few weeks ago and now need to find a new car in the next month because jeep was totaled The escape is a 2002 and DHs car and all tinny and sounds awful. So he will keep that. We are probably going to get another jeep, no third row...that will come after a few more LOs. Can't stand most new SUVs because the visibility out the back window is zero... I hate car shopping...Bleh.
Also upgraded to a 2014 JGCherokee this summer so that us tall people would not have to move our seats up when a car seat is in the back. So far I love the car, but I can't wait to put it to the test with our precious cargo this Dec and see how functional it REALLY is.
IE: will I be able to BF comfortably in the back seat? Will strollers fit ok in the back? Can we put in multiple car seats years from now?
So far my only complaints are that it's too high for our dog to jump up into the cargo area... And the gear shifter is a little wonky/sensitive.
We'd love to, but we're upside down on my car right now *sigh* We may be stuck with it until we can catch up. It barely fits the baby seat and you have to put the stroller in just right for it to fit. Grocery shopping ought to be fun.
I drive a 98 Nissan Altma. Her name is nancy. And my boyfriend got a lovely two seater ford f150. (I hate it because he will be taking our son NO WHERE) so fingers crossed nancy doesn't break down.
@katnine a wrangler has been my dream vehicle since I was about 10. I would kill to have one. You lucky ducky!!!!
I refuse to buy a minivan (yes it is vanity and it is illogical, I know). We did upgrade my car to a third row SUV because three car seats are tough to fit in most cars. My DH is a serial car buyer/seller so he used this baby as an excuse to upgrade his car too.
Same here! I love cars. I may be persuaded into a cross over but that's as big as I will go. Told DD he can drive a mini van if he wants because I'm not!
