Baby stuff I hate

I really don't mind even the "worst" parts of taking care of baby like poopy diapers and MOTN feeds.

But I seriously hate snapping up sleepers. I always end up with an extra snap. It seriously make me ragey. I make DH do it anytime I can.

Also, clipping baby fingernails. Is there anything worse?

What do you hate?

Re: Baby stuff I hate

  • Bath time, our before and after Bathtime ritual doesn't bug me but its sitting there with a slippery baby and for some reason I can't. DH does it every night while I clean the kitchen.
  • Loading the player...
  • The only time DS really annoys me is when I'm side nursing him and he kicks/climbs me. Every once in awhile I will grunt and jump out of bed like grouchy teenager all, "F this!".

Sleepers with snaps drive me INSANE !
I refuse to let LO actually go to bed in one because it is such a pain in the ass to deal with at 3 am when he needs to be changed. The ones with zippers are no better because that means you have to open the whole ensemble to change the child and then he gets cold and awake and screams at you like you told him he lives in a sugar free household.

I hate preparing bottles. I don't mind actually feeding him but I hate mixing up all the bottles and bottle washing. I don't trust the dish washer .

This is why I prefer snap up pyjamas x1000. He wakes up less and I don't have to bend his knees backwards just to get him into the damn thing.

I hate zip up pjs, bottle washing, pumping and nursing bras. Nursing bras suck and make my boobs look atrocious.
  • I hate cleaning his nose, giving him meds (he's been on reflux meds since 3 weeks), and the worst one...clipping his nails!!!

  • I hate snap pjs too! They're a last resort if everything else is dirty. Cleaning pump parts and bottles every night is really wearing on me. I take 3 sets to work so I don't have to worry about cleaning them before the next use but it's so much to do at night!
  • Why not just not re-snap after changing MOTN? Leave it open if they're also in a sleep sack. Might help!

I hate it when baby vulture-nails grabs my belly rolls while nursing.

I also hate the wipes thing! And baby socks.

  • Washing pump parts, Clipping nails and putting her down for naps- just nap child!

Target has sleepers that zip from the top- they are wonderful! Circo brand I beleive.
  • Car seats, car seats, car seats

    Nursing bras

Daily battle to give LO her reflux meds, which she still tries to spit out - every day
  • @lcr23‌ You can put your pump parts in a ziplock bag then put them in the fridge between uses without needing to clean them, then just clean the one set at night. This way you don't need to take 3 sets to work. The reasoning behind this is milk is good in the fridge for 3-5 days so any milk on the pump parts will be fine for the 8 hours while you're at work.

I feel weird about putting them in the work fridge for some reason. Completely irrational, I know :)
  • Putting clothes on her is a 60min process. And folding is useless because it all collapses on itself.

  • Bibs that tie up... I have enough trouble getting a Velcro one on my wiggly worm! The tie-up ones are now the last resort bibs.
  • I find trimming LO's fingernails oddly satisfying.

I strongly dislike washing pump parts and bottles several times a day.

    I am a cliche: I hate diapers.
  • Changing a poopy diaper in a public restroom!!! Eewww!!!! I totally freak if she touches the changing tray thingy. The whole process is just so unnerving to me.
  • Yes on wipes sticking together!! Everyone raves about Kirkland wipes so I thought I'd try them but the damn things stick together so much they need brute force and two hands to get one free! No thanks!

  • I've got another- how baby gear and carrying baby ruins my own clothes! I bought two new sweaters that got ruined within days because I keep catching them on the stroller (hauling it in and out of the car) and other miscelaneous baby-related bodily fluid incidents. I've been living in those two sweaters now since I'm still off on mat leave and they're already ruined.
  • The car seat is number one.
It's heavy, I have a 20lb baby and the strap is always getting twisted! I also hate pump parts and bottle washing (my bottles always seems to have a film no matter what!). I hate doing my own laundry but oddly don't mind baby or diaper laundry. I have a love/hate relationship with my diaper bag- it's cute and big, it holds everything and is organized when i leave the house, I can never find what I need when I need it!!!

  • The flipping car seat is the bane of my existence! It is BEYOND heavy and it makes it impossible to just pop into anywhere to just pick something up real quick! I seriously loathe leaving the house by myself.

  • Zip up pj's suck.  Give me all of the snap up pj's.  I also do not enjoy bottle washing.

  • Yes on the washing all the pump parts/bottles, baby socks never staying on, the car seat, wipes sticking together GGGGRRRR! I used to hate snap up pjs, but they aren't so bad now that DD sleeps mostly though the night and doesn't need to be changed until morning when I will get her dressed anyway.

I hate any frufru baby clothes that take to damn long to get DD into with tons of buttons etc and that are not comfy/practical. I have a bunch of super cute and beautiful boutique dresses and outfits that my step mom has given me and I know she spent a lot of money on but damn - I ain't got no time for that nonsense!
  • Since this is not my first rodeo. I am dreading putting up baby gates!!! I freaking hate them it's like being trapped in a cage all day ! 2 story house with multiple large fancy staircases will be the death of me. :((
  • Fighting with the wipes, putting away the baby bath every other day since it's massive, sizing on clothes, accidentally shrinking baby clothes (gasp!), baby stains and cheap feeling bibs or blankets (gifts) since they aren't soft but is much rather spend money on other things.
  • @ambarnett1 I hated giving reflux meds too! It was bitter tasting and LO haaated it. The company that makes omeprazole finally realized they ought to make it in a little kid friendly variety, and they just changed the formula. Now it tastes like strawberry and LO practically sucks it out of the syringe!

  • Diaper leaks. I feel like I'm soaking his clothes in oxyclean every day to prevent staining. Getting him out of the car seat. He goes in fine but fights me when I take him out. The damn mirror in the truck (so I can see him). That things falls off every other freaking day and it takes at least 5min if back and forth to get it attached and positioned at the right angle.
  • Putting on cold pump parts.  Blegh.

Socks.  LO has some great big calves.  No socks fit him.

Thankfully I have a kind kitchen elf who washes my bottles and pump parts.  Otherwise that would suck big hairy balls too.

Pumping one boob while LO eats from the other side.  He constantly kicks the bottle or puts a hand under the pump.  It's like a juggling act.
  • Having to make sure the bibs are in mesh bags in the laundry so the Velcro doesn't snag other clothing or the muslin blankets.

genius. I just have a bunch of snagged clothing ;)

One more hate - maybe it's because I live at a higher elevation, but when I open the film on a new container of formula it always sprays the powder everywhere because it is so pressurized. I've had to change shirts more than once due to this.

  • Lifting the effing carseat into my DH's lifted Suburban. I have bruises all down the backs of my legs from the damn infant seat.
    Baby socks. Hate them.
    Nose spit up.
Folding up the goddamn stroller. One-handed my ass.
The infant bathtub. It's hard and uncomfortable and he just slides down in it.
Baby gloves. No thumbs. Tiny hands. Smell like cabbage.
And jeans on a baby. So hard to put on!

  • Baby snot/runny noses bar none. But have to say I do find sucking snot satisfying when you get an impressive load. I know.... I know. God I love the nosefrida!
And people, strangers specifically, who touch your baby! No wonder he's sick and snotty! Arghh.

  • I hate how all baby toys have a million stupid zip ties on them! Seriously the toy was $3 and you have $2 worth of zip ties on the damn thing!
  • Just sleep kid, you are crying to tell me you are tired? I already know! I hate clipping nails too, luckily DH does it most of the time. I won't use sleepers. I go for shirts and baby legs. Also hate Velcro. Basically just won't use anything that has it. I don't take the car seat out of the car anymore. Too much work. If shopping I use ring sling. Once we change to convertible I can't pop it out anyway so decided to just get used to it already. @AprilMay9‌ love my A&A burp cloth/bibs they snap then It's one less things to need cause it works as both.

  • Pumping is definitely number one on my list.

Followed by clipping baby nails, and then the ridiculous scratches you get from said tiny nails when you slack on clipping them.

Trying to change a diaper on a screaming, squirming baby in the dark at 2 am.
