It's Simon Henry. Is it that bad? The reactions I'm getting are horrible, from everyone from our parents, to our friends, to our coworkers. The people who don't openly say they don't like it start suggesting names to us. My parents actually told me they hate it but they'd get over it.
Our dd is named Abigail Rose, and goes by Abigail, not Abby. To us it seems like Simon fits well with her name. I'm starting to think maybe I'm missing something. I've literally had one person out of probably 50 say they liked the name. I know all that matters is that DH and I like it, but I don't want to saddle this baby with a terrible name that gets a bad reaction from everyone he meets.
What do you think, what would you say, what would you do? Thanks.

If we we ended up with two sons Simon would be the name! I adore it.
I wonder what they would all find to be a good name because Simon is as good as it gets in my book.

If you love it, that's what matters.
All of this.
We like Lucas but my friend just named her baby that, and I have a terrible mental association with 2 people named Luke, so I just can't do it. The names my friends have suggested are Riley, Kingston, Camden... Very cute, but timestamped names are NMS either.
The feedback I'm getting from people: My friend said Simon is a cat name, my parents worry about the chipmunk and the nursery rhyme Simple Simon and actually think he's going to get beat up on the playground for that, my inlaws don't like Simon Cowell or the chipmunk thing, and a coworker said he's going to get called semen or hymen, and since our last name is Cochran we shouldn't pile on.
My husband informed me our son is probably going to be called "C0ck" as soon as kids learn that word, just as he and his brothers, and everyone else in his family were. So on the off chance some kids think of semen or hymen too, he'll probably already be able to handle it. A few hypothetical playground bullies that far in the future is just not reason enough to make me want to go back to the drawing board right now.
i have 5 kids, and have done A LOT of primary school, I have never ever heard of a kid getting beat up for their name! I have never even really known of kids being made fun of for their name. I think this is mostly in the heads of adults (that it happens or going to happen) for GAWD sakes we have a kid named Rooster at our school and he does fine.
