It's Thursday!

I'll start. I think everyone should stop freaking out about ebola and be more concerned with the enterovirus. Maybe because I have a baby, but still.

Also, CDC - you are not helping to calm anyone down.

Bonus fftc - when the cdc director first spoke from the headquarters in Atlanta, my first thought was "Oh, like in The Walking Dead." Seriously?

I think people use the ER for way too many things. You broke your arm? ER. You have a tummy ache that is kind of bothering you? Suck it up or call your doctor. And don't use the fact that you don't have a primary doctor to justify going to the ER for every little thing.

Gender in babies makes no difference to me. I hate how people think they need to have a boy and girl because they feel as though they'll miss out on something. Be satisfied you have a healthy, happy babe and get over yourself.

My husband and I sleep in seperate rooms most nights, and I'm okay with that. In fact, I prefer it. We both sleep better, and since I'm the one who gets up with the baby when needed, I don't wake him, and when he has to get up for work, he doesn't wake me (even though I'm typically already awake.) We still watch tv in bed together, cuddle, talk, and do other things

but when it's sleepy time we usually go our seperate ways.

I 100% agree. I think that they just shouldn't have those services available in the ER. However I'm sure that the hospitals love those types of cases, can change a premium for easy work.

This one might be bad. But I think everyone should have sex of some kind with their partner 2-3 times a week on average in normal circumstances even if you might not want to/are tired/it's not your "favorite thing" (Louis ck anyone? ) as long as your partner has the drive. It helps with intimacy and I think guys especially need it and will be more likely to do all (or some) of the things we are nagging them about during the day.

I refuse to watch the news. I have a vague understanding of what Ebola is. I think the news is too damn depressing to watch and not watching it helps me to not worry about things un-necessarily.

RE: having some kind of sex with your partner 2/3 times a week my DH is not interested if I'm not into it. I'm not one to "fake" it either. He tends to get frustrated if I just lay there/don't actively participate/seem too tired to care. Because of this our frequency/week has gone down since LO arrived but I'm trying to improve my willingness because he is getting whiney. I think you are right though, it does greatly improve our intimacy and communication with other things when we are more sexually attentive to each other.

I think most babies don't get enough time in unconfined play. Confined meaning car seats, rnp, bouncy chairs, playgyms etc.

FFTC: I'm letting DS watch cartoons so when he is spending time with other toddlers and they sing the songs from the shows he can join in.
I don't want him ostracized because of me providing play instead of screen time.

I think the protesters that hold signs and what not in front of Planned Parenthood are ridiculous. Do they think they are going to prevent an abortion with those grisly signs? How do parents explain to their children as they drive by and ask what those signs mean? IMO this is freedom of speech gone too far.

@steprozz‌ hobby lobby lost my business when they filed a Supreme Court case so they wouldn't have to provide birth control to their employees. Doesn't get much more anti women than that.

I didn't know all that. but then I guess my UO is that I'm not going to stop shopping somewhere because they won't pay for birth control for employees or whatever the problem is. I also didn't stop eating Chick Fil A even though they don't support gay marriage. just because I may disagree with the company's beliefs or whatever, doesn't mean they don't have a good product (or products) that I want to buy/eat/enjoy.

FFFC: I am one of those people outside the planned parenthood. We don't hold signs. We pass out literature for resources to help new parents and adoption information. As a whole people tend to know very little about the adoption process. We are very kind and have had very positive feedback from most people.

Now my UO: I hate when the bump gets political. I just want to keep it cool because the Internet really isn't the place to debate these things as they very quickly turn ugly because you can't read tone and no one usually really is fully open minded about these things and will already have their minds made up.

Not quite. Under obamacare, which all future health care plans must be comlient, include birth control. Up until the hobby lobby case, corporations were not exempt or able to choose to exclude birth control under religious freedom. So the real hot button issue wasn't the birth control itself, but that a corporation could have religious views legally speaking. Also to clarify, this part is often misunderstood; they did not cut out all birth control under the health insurance plans they provided, but rather 4 that they believe are abortifacients such as the plan B pill.

ETA: Hobby Lobby covers 16 of 20 preventive contraceptives required in the mandate @elsa1688‌. They did not ban all contraceptives under their health insurance plans. They 4 they do not cover is plan b, Ella (the week after pill) Copper Intra-Uterine Device, and IUD with progestin.

They DO cover the following still:
Male condoms
Female condoms
Diaphragms with spermicide
Sponges with spermicide
Cervical caps with spermicide
Spermicide alone
Birth-control pills with estrogen and progestin (“Combined Pill)
Birth-control pills with progestin alone (“The Mini Pill)
Birth control pills (extended/continuous use)
Contraceptive patches
Contraceptive rings
Progestin injections
Implantable rods
Vasectomies
Female sterilization surgeries
Female sterilization implants

It stays unless it is repealed. Chances are if a Democrat gets in its almost guaranteed this wouldn't happen as the president gets the final say to sign things in or veto them. A republican, then they will most likely try to get it repealed through influence of the house and senate. Also he can't be reelected. The president can only run 2 terms (8 years).

@brighteyes112 - your #Canadian is really showing - this is his second term, he's all done in a few years. I think we're stuck with it unless someone (congress, senate, new president) proposes then passes what would have to be crazy legislature to get rid of it. Or change it. I think.

NO. If guys did things that we constantly nag about (help out with the kids and around the house more often without prompting) the ladies would be happier and more likely to give it up more often. Otherwise I would be thinking about shit that needs to be done around the house instead of enjoying myself. Sex shouldn't be a chore or an obligation, it should be fun.

Pardon my confusion, but this contradicts itself, does it not? Babies need more unrestricted activity with less gadgets and toys (as you've mentioned before), but toddlers need pop culture exposure to avoid being ostracized?

Also, I don't think your 2 year old is going to be "ostracized" for not knowing the words to the Micky Mouse theme...seems to be an extreme worry.

Squeaker gets lots of free play on the floor. She is confined only when in the car seat and which stays in the car, or in the stroller.

I've noticed when we go to other peoples houses and they have cartoons on and the kids are singing to the songs and talking about the characters DS goes off to play alone because he can't join in. I want him to be able to do those things too.

Squeaker is 4months and needs play. DS is 2 and I've relaxed my stance on screen time.

I'm about a billion years late to this, thanks to work Internet sucking all the fun out of my day...

1. I will not give it up to my H out of obligation or to get him to do stuff around the house. If he's in the mood and I'm not, he has a hand he can use.

2. I think the Teal Pumpkin Project is actually a pretty cool idea. It breaks my heart when I have to take half of DS's treats away after trick or treating (not that he needs that much candy, but it still sucks to have to take everything away). So the idea of him being able to choose a non-candy alternative that I won't have to take away from him? Awesome. I intend to have candy and an alternative at our house this year.

And maybe parents that use bouncers or whatever for their kids are fine with it too? I feel like this debate has been had over and over- do you really not get that it makes it sound like you look down on people that make a different choice than you?
