Wow - it's been awhile since I was on these boards!
My name is Kathi. I have a 17m DD conceived through ICSI. My husband and I have been having loose discussion around possibly having another child. Recently, we decided to go for it. We have our initial consultation with our previous Dr scheduled for Tuesday. I am not sure what is in store for us this time around since A. We have already been through all of the diagnostics, B. We know the Dr from our last cycles, and C. We have 6 frozen embryos.
I am excited to start this journey, but also nervous. We had some ups and down while trying to get pregnant (as I am sure most of you did). It took us 3 cycles which isn't a ton, but there were some losses and diagnosis that we weren't prepared for. I don't have time to feel sorry for myself this time around as I have a little one who needs her mommy, so I am a bit worried about how this will all go down. Hoping this board is a good support system as we are trying to keep this cycle private.
I also have a nagging fear of having a disabled child.I feel like there is so littler research around fertility treatments. We are lucky enough to have a healthy and beautiful baby girl - I am scared we are pushing it by trying to have another. I know it sounds crazy, but I am certainly paranoid. I don't miss this part of TTC!
Looking forward to chatting with you ladies!
TTC Since January 2011
Clomid - 3 cycles - BFN
IVF Cycle #1 - 27 eggs, 0 fertilized - cycle cancelled
ICSI Cycle #2 - 18 eggs, 16 fertilized - BFP (miscarriage at 5 weeks)
FET Cycle #3 - transferred 2 - BFP - TWINS! (lost one twin at 8 weeks)
You can always do PGD on your frozen embryos if you are really concerned about having a disabled child, but what would even make you worry about that? Is there some genetic issues with you or your husband?
Spontaneous pregnancy #1 DD1 July 31, 2011
Trying for #2 since Oct 11

Do you have increased risk factors? Either way, perhaps you should meet with your doctor to discuss your feelings.
Good luck with the process.

Neither of us have a history of disability. I just get nervous with the lack of research around ICSI. I am just an anxious person by nature as well.
We have our consult on Tuesday. I have PCOS, so I imagine I need to start Metformin and be on that for at least three months before starting fertility meds, but we will see for sure on Tuesday. Wish us luck!
Looking forward to following everyone's journeys.
